Crucified
Barbara US Release |
Black & White PR reports: Liquor and Poker
Music has set a May 30 U.S. release date for "In Distortion We Trust,"
the debut full-length by Sweden's Crucified Barbara. The all-female quartet,
who have been called a cross between Motorhead and The Runaways, will be
touring Europe throughout the spring and the summer.
On its overdue North American release,
"In Distortion We Trust" features one bonus track - a blistering cover
of Motorhead's "Killed By Death" - as well as music videos for each of
the group's three singles released in their home country. And even though
English isn't their native tongue, it's clear they've mastered the language
on songs like "My Heart Is Black," when vocalist Coldheart issues a warning-cum-mission
statement: Life's a bitch, and so am I, you see / I dedicate my love to
a Flying V.[see full story for more]- Click

Ike
Reilly Film Debut |
Skye Media reports: Chicago-based musician
Ike Reilly plays himself [in] James’ Marsh’s forthcoming film “The King”
and shot his scenes for the movie in Austin, Texas in the summer of 2004.
The movie is set to debut at the film conference portion of South By Southwest
in Austin on Tuesday, March 14th at 9:30 p.m. at the Paramount.
For his part in the film, Reilly performed
“Put A Little Love In It,” a song from his debut album, Salesmen and Racists.
The twist was that Reilly sang the song, originally performed and written
in English, in Spanish. His performance and song are part of a pivotal
bar fight scene in the movie. Reilly “love[d] the script” and was thrilled
that director Marsh is a fan of his music. Marsh, best known previously
for “Wisconsin Death Trip,” co-wrote the script with Milo Addica (“Monster’s
Ball”). “The King” stars Gael Garcia Bernal, Laura Harring, Paul Dano,
and William Hurt, and will be released by THINKFilm. [see full story for

303s
Are Coming |
Magnum PR reports: The 303s Announce their
Debut LP “Lines of Parallel Minds” to be released April, 11 on Cult-Hero
Records. Electronics, rock, ephemera, and mood make New Jersey’s The 303s
an ingenious meld of power and fragility. Ingrid Dahl and Parixit Davé
learned most of their musical savvy together, unknowingly creating their
own reverb-eclectic pop sound that resonates with intense attention to
detail. [see full story for a free mp3 from the CD]- Click

Tipton
on Priest Reunion, Next CD will Be Surprising |
antiMusic reports: antiMusic's Morley Seaver
recently spoke with Glenn Tipton about his two recent releases Baptizm
of Fire and Edge of the World. Glenn spoke about working with
John Entwistle and Cozy Powell on Edge as well as working with Shannon
Larkin, Billy Sheehan, Robert Trujillo, Neil Murray and Don Airey on Baptizm…
and how he approaches his solo work differently than Judas Priest. But
they also touched upon how the Judas Priest reunion came about and what
they plan next. Here is an excerpt.
antiMUSIC: Before you go, I just have
to ask. Were you surprised at the reception given to Angel of Retribution?
Glenn Tipton: It was fantastic.
It was very special when we reunited. And I'll never forget the day we
did it. We were at Rob's in England. We had no intention of discussing
the reunion. It just cropped up and before you knew it, we had reunited.
When we started to write, you know it's magical when we write because we
don't really know what we're going to come up with. But what we decided
to do…obviously there was a big expectation after 14 years. People, even
if you did something really good, can be disappointed, because they're
over-anticipating. So we decided to take the pressure off us because the
whole world was watching us. The whole metal world anyway. And we just
decided to enjoy. And we did that. We'd get together and just kick ideas
around until the room lit up and we just enjoyed ourselves. And I think
that comes across with Angel of Retribution. It's a comfortable
album. It retraces steps from back away but it has some new things in there
as well. It's very much vintage Priest.
antiMUSIC: Can you see the next record
being very much in that same vein?
Glenn Tipton: Well, we're going
to start writing this month so we've all got our ideas together. We always
get our individual ideas together first and then we pool them. I have a
feeling that our next record will surprise everybody. I think it's going
to be something special (*you can almost see the sly grin through the phone).
