Hate
Eternal Lose Member |
SMN reports: HATE ETERNAL drummer Derek Roddy
has issued the following statement regarding his decision to leave the
band: "Real life situations have forced me to resign as a member of HATE
ETERNAL. I can on longer afford the expenses of touring. I have put MUCH
thought into this for the last several years and kept coming to this conclusion.
I must be able to afford the quaility of life that I enjoy, and thus far...
touring in extreme bands has not allowed me to do anything other than go
into a financial hole. Every tour has put me in finanancial burden. Now,
I'm not complaining (because I never expected to "make it" playing metal)
But, I cannot continue to pay to do it either!!! Too expensive.[see full

Gibson
Stomp |
conqueroo reports: This May, the New Orleans,
Louisiana-based music festival the Ponderosa Stomp - on the road since
hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated the Crescent City and the Gulf Coast
- is setting its sights on Memphis, Tennessee. Stomp organizers the Mystic
Knights of the Mau Mau, a 501c3 non-profit, will descend on the Gibson
Guitar Factory in downtown Memphis May 8-10 for a three-day fundraiser
benefiting the New Orleans Musicians Clinic an MusiCares.
Although by the time the first performer
hits the stage, the factory assembly line will have ground to a halt for
the night, a more appropriate venue could hardly be imagined: In this monolithic
building, located a block south of Beale Street, craftsmen create Gibson
ES Series electric guitars - specifically, the B.B. King "Lucille" model
and the Chet Atkins model. The roster for the 2006 Ponderosa Stomp reads
like a Gibson guitar dream team of rockabilly, blues, R&B, and soul
greats: [see full story for more]- Click

Sudden
Death Motorjesus |
Kayos reports: Locomotive Records has an impending
crash on its hands when two metal forces—Motorjesus and Sudden Death—explode
in April.
On April 4, Sudden Death, from a small
town in Indiana called Angola, builds on a hardcore and thrash base to
put forth Unpure Burial. Call it post-metalcore. Beau, Bill, Corey, Joe
and Jon honed their craft gigging throughout Ohio, Illinois, Michigan and
Iowa, establishing a fanatical fan base (that even extends to Texas and
Florida where the final member of the band, Jon, joined). Their all-out
assault fuses a speedzip punk aesthetic with heavy-as-hell metal to produce
a sweltering effect that will be celebrated onstage with a spring tour.
On April 25, Motorjesus, from Germany,
takes a Classic Rock and Trad-Metal approach with the release of Deathrider.
Formerly The Shitheadz, Motorjesus has been rockin’, in one form or another,
since 1992. Guitarist Guido Reuss, bassist Mark Neschen and drummer Oliver
Beck have been the foundation. Now, with vocalist Christoph Birx and lead
guitarist Andreas Peters, the building is complete. The band considers
the sound more traditional and less metalcore than its 2004 Dirty Pounding
Gasoline debut. With the production talents of The Resetti Brothers (Vince
Sorg and Jorg Umbreit) behind the board (who have finetuned albums by Kreator
and Grave Digger in their own Principal Studios), Deathrider has a modernistic
sheen to its appeal.[see full story for more]- Click
