nu-metal rage
Dillinger Escape Plan reports: [from the band's Myspace blog...]Wicked Wisdom. GET THE FUCK INTO IT. If you don't know what it is, you need to find out and make it a part of your life. What would Professor Klump think if he saw this? Seems like Miss Purty has been diagnosed with a serious and career destroying case of "nu-metal rage". Get into the lyrics. I mean way into them. "SOMETHING INSIDE OF ME IS.....PISSED!". Change "pissed" to "AWESOME" and GET INTO IT. Shit is going off over at the Wicked Wisdom camp. Jada Pinkett wins for best comedic performance of the year so far. Happy Friday. All tour dates coming soon, info about DVDs, other little treats like a secret *cough* EP, and more. South Florida, we are coming for the first time in a long time. Get ready to GO OFF.

I Hate Myself and Want to Die
Hyperion reports: Does the opening "pling pling plinggg" of Bette Midler’s ‘The Rose’ fill you with existential dread? Do you cringe at the mere whiff of what Phil Collins is spewing ‘In the Air Tonight?’ Have you ever bolted from a restaurant because Celine Dion’s cover of ‘All By Myself’ was threatening to drive you over the edge? Well, turn around, bright eyes – because Tom Reynolds is here with I HATE MYSELF AND WANT TO DIE, a laugh-out-loud-til-you’re sobbing compendium of the world’s most hideously depressing pop songs – and a guide to what makes them so heartwrenchingly, earsplittingly sad and bad. With chapters like ‘I Was a Teenage Car Crash,’ ‘I’m Trying to be Profound and Touching but Really Suck At It,’ ‘Perfect Storms,’ and ‘I Mope, Therefore I Am,’ Reynolds details the history of melodic misery, from the days of Bobby Darin to the era of Evanescence. Complete with a ranked ‘Countdown of Doom’ and wonderfully dreary drawings, I HATE MYSELF AND WANT TO DIE is the one book that fans and foes of woeful tunes won’t want to live without. Staff Meeting: Dan Upton
antiMusic reports: A lot of people work hard to make antiMusic what it is. So with our 8th anniversary we felt it was time to spotlight each writer so you can get to know them a little better. Over the next few weeks we will be posting a small portion of each staff person's new profile page. So let's begin and get to know Dan Upton a little better.

Dan is from Charlottesville, Virginia and has been with antiMusic for almost a year. The first CD he purchased was Dave Matthews Band's 'Under the Table and Dreaming' and his first concert was Dave Matthews Band with Bruce Hornsby and Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise . He lists Dave Matthews Band, Bela Fleck & The Flecktones, Dream Theater, Soilwork, Days of the New, Celldweller, Scott Henderson, Wes Montgomery, Ra and Sevendust as his Top 10 Favorite artist. His musical pet peeves are "Generic beats (if you're not going play instruments, at least be creative with the technology), lyrics that don't mean anything, and the people who love/"get" them (see: emo)". His favorite part of antiMusic is "Keavin's editorial comments on news." Click the full story to learn more about Dan and discover which star's name that elicits this response: "please, can somebody knock out his lights?", why Dashboard Confessional has contributed to the downfall of modern music and a lot more!
