Piracy worse than child porn
05/05/06
.
(Inquirer) THE NEW look Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA) seems to be giving the world an unusual moral code.... It appears that the DMCA will have a maximum sentence of ten years inside for the crime of software and music piracy. It will also give the FBI the powers to wiretap suspected pirates.... assaulting a police officer will get you five years, downloading child porn will get you seven years, assaulting without a weapon will get you ten years and aggravated assault six years.

So in other words if you copy a Disney CD and sell it you will be in the same league as a paedophile who is distributing pictures of sexual attacks on children. [the Feds can't control the border but they want to wiretap DVD and CD pirates? see full story for more on this from CNet] - Click here for the Full Story

Hey, Dick and Donald! Look! We still got those people thinking the DeMocracy Capping Act (DMCA) actually stands for Digital Millenium Copyright Act!!! Hahahahahahaaa! ROTFL

Posted by info@riaa.com:
This is exactly what is needed. Pedophiles sell photos of crimes that happened before, it's not like those children are assaulted so the pedophiles can sell them.

Piracy, on the other hand, is a fresh crime, and actually KILLS PEOPLE. Look, I currently earn 20 billion bucks a year selling crappy music, now if 50% of the people pirate it, I'll only get 10 billion! How is anyone supposed to live on just 10 billion a year? I'd definitely starve.

Save my life, execute software/music/movie pirates!

Pedophilia is a respectable occupation. Software piracy is abhorent!

The smart (national security) thing for America to do (post crash of the petrodollar vis the coming Iran war) will be to take the lead in advocating common ownership of info. The alternative is to face a mega tsunami of Chinese lawsuits defending Chinese copyright. Better to get global consensus (including Chinese civil society) for common ownership of info. Of course, because of the sheer scale of China, its plutocratic elite, as they gain power are seen as the main enemy of its own people, so without common ownership of info, you're looking at global chaos...

I think america is a goner. That country is a collapsing dictatorship. It will die. And good riddance. Let it collapse hard and painful and fall apart in 3+ states; people will learn some humility. Hopefully what emerges will be a less corpocratic/plutocratic nightmare.

Posted by Tracy:
Obviously things are really only a problem in this country if they impact a business, but if your crime is only against people it isn't that bad. That is what they show the masses with stupid laws like this.
