Suicide Machines Commit Suicide
punkbands reports: After torrent of rumors surrounding their demise, Suicide Machines' co-founder and guitarist Dan Lukacinsky has sent Punknews.org a statement regarding the future of the band: "Yes - the Suicide Machines have indeed disbanded and will no longer be playing shows. We originally had planned on calling it a day at the end of 2005 - but some great offers for tours came in late last year that we just could not turn down so we decided to take them and keep it going. Things just got to a point recently of where we could no longer continue doing this band although we had planned on trying to stay with it until the end of this year.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Stolen Concrete
The Tripwire reports: NYC is supposed to be safer than ever... so why do bands keep getting their gear stolen? In a sad turn of events, The Concretes are the latest to have experienced the wrath of musical instrument theft here in the Big Apple. The band got their guitars, an organ and a euphonium lifted from their locked trailer following last week's performance at NYC's Bowery Ballroom. [see full story for more.. perhaps there is a mob connection? you're not supposed to have anything to do with concrete in NYC without them getting their cut.]- Click Here for the Full Story

Dissection Coverage
Reader Mail reports: I read Antimusic.com everyday, but I noticed you have no coverage for the band "Dissection". They are a Black Metal band from Sweden with a long history. Their new album "Reinka½s" comes out Tuesday May 15. I found out about "The Black Dahlia Murder" from Antimusic- Dissection is one of their influences. Maybe others will be able to find out about "Dissection" from you as well.

answer: We've actually covered them a bit. Just had a story last month. We used to get news from their label [The End Records] but they stopped sending it to us for some reason, so blame the label! For those that want to learn more about the band and this release check out the full story link.- Click Here for the Full Story

Death Cab For Henry
Cornerstone reports: That's right, your favorite band, Death Cab For Cutie will be on Henry's show this Saturday night, May 20th. The performance should be really cool as Henry's set is very intimate and small. It will be cool to see Death Cab play like that as they've been playing really big venues as of late. And for those of you who didn't know this already, Death Cab For Cutie takes their name from a song performed in the Beatles' movie "Magical Mystery Tour." 30 Seconds to Kill
Virgin reports: 30 SECONDS TO MARS has just released their exclusive “Two Beautiful Lies” EP through iTunes. Two weeks ago the band asked their fans to submit photos for a set of digital liner notes to accompany their new single for “The Kill” and the response was tremendous. In just 24 hours, over 1,000 fans submitted their digital photos. The photos have been transformed into a 36 page photo book that is now bundled with the EP, which includes “The Kill” and a previously unreleased live recording of “Attack” at iTunes for $1.49.

The video for “The Kill,” loosely inspired by themes of isolation and insanity present in the Kubrickian nightmare The Shining, was ranked #1 in the Hot 5 Videos on MTV.com for the past two weeks while, during the week of May 1, it was #1 on Fuse’s Oven Fresh. Dixie Embargo
antiMusic reports: We got a press release in stating that The Dixie Chicks have ended their "press embargo" with an exclusive interview on a certain TV show. However, we can't give you any more details because our reciprocal embargo remains in place. But we do enjoy the irony of receiving a press release about a press embargo. - Click Here for the Full Story

Staff Meeting: Jake Brown
antiMusic reports: A lot of people work hard to make antiMusic what it is. So with our 8th anniversary we felt it was time to spotlight each writer so you can get to know them a little better. Over the next few weeks we will be posting a small portion of each staff person's new profile page. So let's get to know Jake Brown a little better.

Jake Brown is from Nashville and has been with antiMusic for 2 years. The first album he purchased was Prince's "Purple Rain" and his first concert was Bon Jovi on the Slippery When Wet tour. He lists Izzy Stradlin & the JuJu Hounds, Motley Crue- Red, White & Crue, Tom Waits- Heart Attack & Vine, Paul Westerberg- 14 Songs, Janes Addiction- Nothing's Shocking, Smashing Pumpkins- Gish, Prince- Sign of the Times, The Pixies- DooLittle, A Tribe Called Quest- The Low End Theory and Fleetwood Mac- Rumors Top 10 Favorite CDs. His musical pet peeves are "That PAUL WALL has a career as a rapper. That reality TV shows can legitimize pop music stars, that J LO is still working as either an actress or singer, that Kevin Federline is getting ANY press at all about his stupid fucking rap career, when grunge singers used to wine about being rich rock stars, Ozzy gave the best response to all of them: 'If you don't like it, go work in a f**king car wash!'" His favorite part of antiMusic is " The Newswire, without question. Definitely one of the most varied and current news summaries out there on the web".
