(antiMusic) And the winners of this season's American Idol are the show's producers, Fox TV and RCA records as they will benefit most. As for the winner of the karaoke contest it was the 29-year-old grey-haired Alabama crooner Taylor Hicks who carried the day and proved wrong the major label mentality of signing up young kids with little talent. Hicks earns a record contract out of the victory, a contract many outsiders criticize as mostly benefiting everyone but the singer. Runner-up Katharine McPhee will likely end up signed to a very similar contract, so they basically Hicks won bragging rights.
