Van Halen Jr
TMZ reports: Van Halen has finally found its new bassist -- and it looks like the rock gods are keeping the band a family affair.

TMZ is first to confirm that Van Halen has hired 15-year-old Wolfgang Van Halen -- the son of guitarist Edward Van Halen and estranged wife Valerie Bertinelli, and nephew of drummer Alex Van Halen -- as the new bassist for the band. Wolfgang replaces longtime bassist Michael Anthony, who left the band earlier this year. Van Halen spokesperson Janie Liszewski tells TMZ that Wolfgang, known as "Wolfie," has already joined his dad and uncle for rehearsals in the studio. Wolfie played dates with his father during the band's 2004 tour, and the song "316" on 1991's "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge," was named for Wolfie's birth date that same year. The band is still without a lead singer, despite rumors that David Lee Roth might rejoin the band. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Sugertits Intervention
hecklerspray reports: Judging by his recent behaviour, getting Mel Gibson to help keep you sober is a bit like getting Jeffrey Dahmer to help you stop killing boys and storing their severed heads in your fridge - but, compared to Courtney Love, Mel's a saint.

And now Courtney Love has decided to tell the world that she's been sober for 15 months, something which she puts entirely down to the intervention of Mel Gibson. .. Back in February Courtney Love said that she had kicked "a very gnarly drug habit." Back then Courtney Love didn't mention Mel Gibson's name at all, but things have changed and Mel Gibson needs a friend. Oh, and Courtney Love has a book out now, did we mention that? [they also reportedly share a publicist see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Disturbed About No 1
blabbermouth.net reports: DISTURBED frontman David Draiman told Billboard magazine that while he's happy his band's cover of GENESIS' "Land of Confusion" hit No. 1 on Billboard's airplay-based Mainstream Rock chart, he's also a bit disappointed.

"To be honest with you, I expected it to be better," Draiman said. "I had hopes for it multi-format, not simply at the active (rock) format, especially with the rotation of that video (director Todd) McFarlane did such a great job with." happy outsells depressing
punkbands reports: I don't know what the f**k is going on with the Billboard website, but the charts they have up are all from last week. There IS an article saying My Chemical Romance did NOT debut at the top of the albums chart this week. The boys in black didn't sell as many records as.... wait for it... Hanna Montana, the Disney Channel's latest tween-queen. I guess happy outsells depressing. Or maybe 10 year old kids and their parents don't download illegally as depressed goth teens.[see full story for more.. to be fair the PR from the MCR came said they had the highest "Rock" release of the week]- Click Here for the Full Story
