Dylan Speaks
Kayos reports: On October 31, Eagle Rock Entertainment, through its wholly-owned Eagle Vision subsidiary, will release Ralph J. Gleason Presents "Dylan Speaks: The 1965 Press Conference in San Francisco." More than any other artist, Bob Dylan used the platform of being interviewed by the press as an opportunity for theater. Fabricating elaborate scenarios about his past, cutting through the rhetoric of what an "entertainment feature story" is supposed to be all about, adding his own surrealistic tinge, Dylan pulled the strings and journalists of the era were the unwitting puppets. His early interviews are legendary.

At the time of this press conference, presided over by the late Rolling Stone co-founder Ralph J. Gleason, whose authorial bearing brings one of the first legendary rock critics back to fascinating life, Dylan had already released Bringing It All Back Home and Highway #61 Revisited. He had shocked the purist folk fans at Newport by infamously "going electric" and getting booed off the stage. Against this backdrop of cultural upheaval, he entered the television studios of San Francisco's KQED for his only known televised press conference. Eleni Mandell's Miracle
conqueroo reports: From her first album, 1999's Jon Brion-produced Wishbone, to her fifth, 2004's Afternoon (upon which Los Angeles magazine named her "best local singer"), L.A.-based singer/songwriter Eleni Mandell has been feeling the love from critics and her fellow musicians, who have offered their respective kudos. Impressive to be sure, but her career to this point has been a tantalizing extended buildup to her new longplayer, Miracle of Five, due out February 6 on Zedtone Records, which is at once the quintessence and culmination of her body of work to date.

In order to optimize this crucial undertaking, Mandell assembled a group of talented and supportive players, including Wilco lead guitarist Nels Cline, X drummer DJ Bonebrake (who plays vibes here), her longtime rhythm section of drummer Kevin Fitzgerald and bassist Ryan Feves, reed player Jeff Turmes (James Harman, Badly Drawn Boy) and keyboardist Andy Kaulkin (Merle Haggard, R.L. Burnside), who also produced. Rob Schnapf (Beck, Elliott Smith) did the mixing. The album will be released on V2 Records for the world excluding North America.- Click Here for the Full Story

Steelheart: What's in a name?
sleazeroxx.com reports: Original Steelheart drummer talks to Sleazeroxx.com about new music and the band's name:
SR: I was gonna ask that, what do you think of the Steelheart music Mike has done on his own and do you mind him using the name without the original band?

JF: I hold no animosity towards Mike...I wish him the best of luck. I think Mike has a lot of European influence in his music...i.e. melodic changes and shifting time signatures...he also loves to ROCK! I think he is closer to what he wants than ever...be it commercially succeeding or not. I think HE is succeeding in what he wants to be...wasn't that deeeeep!!!! The new stuff is pretty epic and he told me HE did all the guitars himself (except leads...old hammerhand likes to break strings...old band nickname). Speaking of names, I always disliked it. We were forced to come up with name...the record was done and we had no name. It makes me feel like I should be riding a f***ing horse in full armor to the local joust!!!! MIKE IS WELCOME TO IT![see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
