Tool Riot
Blabbermouth reports: NBCSanDiego.com reports that video footage has surfaced of the incident Saturday night (August 5) when nearly 100 fans were hurt after thousands of rock fans surged forward at a San Diego performance by TOOL.

The Los Angeles band was the headliner Saturday night at the Street Scene 2006 music festival in the parking lot of the Qualcomm Stadium. The group had just taken the stage.

"Everyone was getting pushed up toward the front," said Eric Hanau, who was at the show. "People were getting crushed."

In the end, more than a dozen people went to the hospital after being crushed. One person is being treated tonight for life-threatening injuries. Multiple ambulances and paramedics were sent to the venue in the Qualcomm Stadium parking lot when the crowd got out of control [see full story for more including a video report] - Click Here for the Full Story

My Chemical Burn
punkbands reports: My Chemical Romance was not in a car crash as speculated earlier this week. The dorks burned themselves while they were shoting their new video. Here is the official statement from the band:

Here are the facts for you all and please know that none of the injuries sustained were permanent nor intentional and it really proves that sometimes these things happen and every person should truly value what they have. Last week, while shooting a new video for our new record, 2 of us sustained some damage more than we normally would have. Gerard tore multiple ligaments in his ankle and Bob received a bad burn to the back of his leg. [ooh pyro is so cool! See the full story for the full statement] - Click Here for the Full Story

Ill Nino Accident
antiMusic reports: Ill Nino issued the following statement: It is with sincere regret that we must announce that Ill Niño will not be able to perform its upcoming European tour. Danny Couto, Ill Niño's percussionist, and also semi-pro skateboarder, was in a skateboarding accident late Wednesday (August 2nd) night. Danny landed on his wrist and tore a ligament and is unable to use his right wrist and arm. This accident makes it impossible for Danny to perform in the upcoming European tour. Ill Niño works and lives like a family and each member is integral to every show. Ill Niño feel that performing without Danny not only takes away from the live show, but is unfair to the fans who expect nothing less than an amazing show. We promise to make up the shows as soon as possible. Thanks for supporting Ill Niño!- Click Here for the Full Story

Music Makes Sluts
hecklerspray reports: There's nothing we like more than a good scientific study, especially if it concludes that children will basically turn into sex-crazed nymphobeasts within seconds of hearing a vaguely sexy pop song.

That's more or less the point of a study published in Pediatrics magazine, which has linked underage sex with children listening to songs with lyrics about sex. And it's a fair point, too - who can't say they've been influenced by the lyrics of a pop song now and again? For example, would we have precociously tried to forcefully sex up a librarian in 1991 if it weren't for Color Me Badd? No, but you try telling that to the police. .[sure blame it on the music, hormones have nothing to do with it see full story for more on this "study"]- Click Here for the Full Story

Dillinger Injury Plan
SMN reports: The Dillinger Escape Plan have posted the following update:

"Because there have been numerous people wondering what the f*** is going on, and because we haven't said anything yet, I feel as though we need to address what people who have been to the last two shows already know. Ben Weinman had to fly home the morning of August 4th to deal with some personal issues, and could not play the final four shows of this tour. Ben has played through injuries too numerous to count, and severe enough that most people wouldn't have even gotten out of bed, let alone play intense and physically demanding shows. He has played through sickness and ignored family emergencies to never ever miss a show, so when he tells me that he has to go home I know that he has to go home. .[ see full story for more] - Click Here for the Full Story

Victory Sucks?
punkbands reports: Hawthorne Heights announced this week that they will be leaving their label, Victory Records. The band states that the split is "anything but amicable," and that label head Tony Brummel is to blame.

In the letter, they cite the incident with Ne-Yo (an email from Brummel asking street-teamers to hide his cd's in stores so Hawthorne's own would be more visible to consumers), as well as Brummel's bickering with a program director of a Chicago radio station over airplay (subsequently leaving HH out of radio rotation), as instances of his greed and disregard for the band. The band goes on to explain that they have never received a single artist royalty from Victory, despite selling 1.2 million copies of "The Silence In Black And White."

They describe their relationship with Victory as abusive, claiming they were too afraid of the consequences to speak out against the label. They claim the same is true for every band on Victory's roster. [But it's the biggest label in the universe oops emo label. Wait, indie label.. sorry. Their message is pretty damning, see the full story for that. Also they are reportedly suing Victory for lost record sales, lost publishing revenues, lost merch revenues, lost touring revenues and damage to Hawthorne Heights reputation.] - Click Here for the Full Story

Metal Meat Toss Protest
Blabbermouth reports: The organizers of the Swedish hard rock/heavy metal festival Gates of Metal may face prosecution over the stage show put on by the Norwegian black metal band Mayhem last Saturday (August 5). Pig heads and other animal parts decorated the stage during the band's performance - a violation of the Swedish animal by-product regulation.

"It's illegal to handle animal parts in this manner," Hanna Werthén, administrative officer at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries, told the Swedish newspaper Östran/Nyheterna. "You may use animal by-products for educational purposes or in an artistic context, but in that case you need a permit from us first. We have not received an application from the festival promoters in Hultsfred. Therefore we will take action. Exactly what will happen I can't say at the moment, but it may very well lead to prosecution." [see full story for more] - Click Here for the Full Story

Legal Panic at the Disco?
punkbands reports: Brent Wilson, former bass player of the band Panic! at the Disco, reportedly has plans to file a lawsuit against his former bandmates. The bassist's brother posted this bulletin:

A court case is in the making. Brent and his lawyer have taken the next step. A letter has been sent to Panic! stating that Brent will be taking them to court if he has not received an agreement from the band within 14 days. If this 14 day grace period is neglected, further measures will be taken. If Panic! does not agree to Brent's proposal, the case may take anywhere from two to four years. If, in the event the band does not come to a settlement, the IRS will have to get involved and things will get even uglier. In the mean time, the family thanks all of you for your support.- Click Here for the Full Story

Warped Loses Another
punkbands reports: It seems like we should just have a special column for this kind of thing...but gypsy punks Gogol Bordello have joined the ranks of mewithoutYou, Spitalfield, Gatsby's American Dream etc. in dropping off of this years Vans Warped Tour. In their case, they blame an injury to drummer Eliot Ferguson as the reason for ending their tour plans. [maybe they should rename the SmartPunk stage the dumbpunk stage as, according to MTV, the band's aren't paid to play it. Then again it could be Ozzfest where they have to pay TO play. ] - Click Here for the Full Story
