Screech
Sex Tape Planned? |
TMZ reports: Dustin Diamond, aka Screech from
"Saved by the Bell," may have known that a sex tape featuring him existed
and that it was going to be released soon. According to a source at Globat.com,
the Web hosting company that recently hired him to be its spokesman, Screech's
management told them that something "huge" was going to happen next week
and that they were "lucky to have him."
This, of course, was not what the company
had in mind. The company says they are seriously concerned over the recent
headlines and is contemplating its next steps. In a statement released
to TMZ, Globat says: "We signed Dustin Diamond based on his persona as
the recognizable lovable nerd. Through talks with his management, we knew
they had something big planned -- but never expected this! We have not
seen or received confirmation from Diamond's management of the alleged
tape. We are reserving any judgment until further information is available."[see

Hoodoo
Gurus Remastered |
PR reports: For over twenty years and eight
albums, Australia’s Hoodoo Gurus have given the world a dozen
classic anthems, topped the charts and gained cult hero status. Hoodoo
Gurus have now remastered their early albums and on October 24, the bands’
own Hoodoo Gurus’ Records will reissue their debut recording
Stoneage Romeos. Additional back catalogue will be available digitally
and a new studio release is planned for 2007. Hoodoo Gurus have
also assembled all their favorite video footage together in a long-form
DVD for the US release of Tunnel Vision.
The Stoneage Romeos reissue comes with
the original Australian front cover art, as well as additional new material,
including a fold out poster, and features bonus tracks “Leilani
Pt 2”, “Be My Guru” and “Hoodoo
You Love”. Full of garage punk songs, big fat rhythm
section and a wall of guitars, the band’s debut topped the
US college charts ahead of The Replacements, REM and Black Flag and stayed
at #1 for seven weeks. [the weird formatting is AOL's fault, this was the
way we got the press release… so blame AOHELL if you can't read this. ]

Live
Pixies DVD |
Kayos reports: Hot on the heels of its debut
“Club Date” DVD (Elvis Costello & The Imposters Live In Memphis), Eagle
Vision, the wholly-owned Eagle Rock Entertainment subsidiary, is proud
to announce the October 3 release of Pixies Live At The Paradise In Boston,
an intimate night of magic by a band that set the standard for all things
“alternative” in the 1990s.
This most influential American band—Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist
Black Francis, Bassist Kim Deal, Guitarist Joey Santiago and Drummer David
Lovering—had parted ways in 1994. Deal started The Breeders. Francis became
solo artist Frank Black. The silence was deafening. 10 Years. But when
Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain stated in interviews that all he was trying to do
when writing “Smells Like Teen Spirit” was write a Pixies song, interest
in the Boston-based band piqued into an obsession. Fast–forward to 2004.

Strait
To No 1 |
PR reports: The King of Country Music strikes
again, notching his 53rd number one. “Give It Away,” the debut song from
his forthcoming album, is Strait’s fastest-moving single in five years
before claiming the top spot in a mere 13 weeks, making him Billboard’s
all-time leader for number one country singles.
Humble as always, Strait had this to say
about his latest coup: “First of all, it's hard to believe it has been
25 years. When I think about putting together an album, the process of
listening to hundreds of songs each time and picking out the best 10 or
so that will go on the record, it really sinks in as to just how many songs
I've listened to all these years. Considering that and the fact that my
fans and friends at radio have stuck with me all this time makes it seem
even more incredible. I can only say thank you and thanks also to all of
the great songwriters who wrote those wonderful songs that became number
ones.”
Strait’s highly anticipated 34th studio
release, It Just Comes Natural, will be in stores on October 3. From sophisticated
Western swing and clever barroom anthems to sawdust two-steppers and smoky
neon ballads, the recordings are classic Strait. - Click

Simple
Man of the Hour |
PR reports: Simple Plan's Sebastien Lefebvre
and longtime friend Patrick Langlois of Role Model Clothing have teamed
up to create Man Of The Hour, a new side project/podcast that airs every
Saturday at 9 pm EST on idobi Radio. Though Man Of The Hour is theoretically
a band with an EP, "En Memoire de la Famille" (In Memory of the Family),
the project is currently most visible in its podcast incarnation, because
the EP is out of print, and there are no plans to tour.
"The band side of Man Of The Hour has always
been more for fun. We jam in basements and once made a CD of the things
we did, but lost it," Lefebvre explains. As for the podcast side, Lefebvre
and Langlois decided to do a show for idobi Radio at the suggestion of
station head Tom Cheney. When over 12,000 people tuned in to hear the duo,
Man Of The Hour was quickly turned into a reoccurring broadcast/podcast.
The show currently boasts a total of over 50,000 listeners and more than
275,000 iTunes downloads since its August 13th debut.[see full story for
