Animal Benevolence from Former Malevolent Creation Drummer
SMN reports: Former MALEVOLENT CREATION drummer David Kinkade has launched the Metal 4 Pets Foundation in support of helping abused animals. Kinkade's personal appeal for help reads as follows: "I have launched the start of a life-long dream that I have had for years, to the helping of abused, homeless and neglected animals. I have always loved animals and have 3 myself. A young, black cat that I raised since birth, an older cat that I saved from a shelter and a little dog that I saved as well. "

"Everyday, more that 2,600 animals are put down due to not being able to find homes for them and the complete over-population of shelters. This is complete f***ing bulls***."

"My goal is to pull the "metal community" together as 1, to support saving these unfortunate animals and finding permanent homes for them. It is going to take a hell of A LOT of work, help and support BUT if metal is really "the strongest fan-force", then lets make it happen."[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Even Linkin Park Hate Nu Metal
Blabbermouth reports: Jeff Vrabel of Billlboard magazine recently spoke to the members of LINKIN PARK about the group's new album, "Minutes to Midnight", due on May 15 via, Warner Bros.

"There's still a hip-hop element to us, and there'll always be," LINKIN PARK singer Chester Bennington told Billboard. "But we've really moved away from anything that sounds like nu-metal. I know that we kind of helped create, I guess, the sound of that genre, but I hate that genre. I'm not going to speak for everyone, but I can personally tell you that I am not a big fan of almost everybody in that category. There are a few bands that I don't really believe belong in there, and we're one of those bands."[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Sister Hazel B-Sides
PR reports: Gainesville, Florida five-piece Sister Hazel is planning to release a B-sides disc this summer. "BAM! Volume 1" is scheduled to hit store shelves on June 8th and is the follow-up release to the band's latest studio album, "Absolutely," which was released in October 2006. Since everyone in the band writes, there tends to be a lot of music that battles for space on each Sister Hazel CD. The best solution for what is a very good problem to have? "BAM! Volume 1."

"One of the hardest parts of making a CD for us has been picking songs," said the band's lead singer, Ken Block. "We are a 5-man democracy, and sifting through 70-something songs each time to narrow it down to one-CD-worth of music has always been challenging. Since we all write, there are always a ton of songs that we work up."

The band will continue their road warrior ways leading up to and following the release of "BAM! Volume 1" (please check band's website for a list of confirmed dates). - Click Here for the Full Story

Killswitch Engage Officially Warped
PR reports: Dates and line-up have been announced for the Vans Warped Tour 2007 and metal titans Killswitch Engage have landed the coveted spot as one of the headliners for this year! Beginning in Pomona, CA on June 29th and wrapping up in Los Angeles, CA on August 25th, the tour routing will see Killswitch Engage weave a two-month path of destruction across North America. Having previously participated in Ozzfest, Headbangers Ball Tour (also featuring Lamb of God and Shadows Fall) and shared stages with the likes of Slayer, the band will be provided a unique opportunity via Vans Warped Tour to reach a new and exciting fan base as well as stand out as one of the harder acts on the bill, shredding eardrums as it moves through town.

Killswitch welcomes the return of guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, who has spent the past two months recuperating from a severe back injury and receiving donations of beef jerky while his bandmates toured Europe and North America.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

After Vue
PR reports: San Francisco's Vue packed it in over three years ago, but that hasn't stopped principal members Rex Shelverton and Jeremy Bringetta from reconvening under the name Bellavista, with former Vue drummer Cary LaScala behind the kit. As could be expected, these guys are offering up more of that sweet, sweet fuzz pop, and sweaty, reverb-y guitar rock. Think BJM, early BRMC, or even a sun-scorched version of Ride. Bellavista will be releasing their self-titled debut via SF's own Take Root Records in early May, and are prepping for a monstrous record release party at The Rickshaw Shop in San Francisco on April 25th.

Rock / USAdown With Touring
PR reports: The remarkably candid and outspoken members of noise duo Rock / USAdown have faced many challenges in their respective lives -- from mental illness and drug addiction to trading prestigious musical educations for life on the road in the ballyhooed 90's AmRep band Love 666. So, it's fitting that its freeform musical style is equally challenging to the listener. Those familiar with the heyday of the fantastic T Rex-meets-Blue Cheer power trio Love 666 will recall that band's penchant for grandiose statements of drug-fueled revolution (including the landmark album titled Please Kill Yourself So I Can Rock.) Over a decade later, Dave Unger and Joe Johnson are still advocating pure freedom, drug use and revolution in the new skree collective fittingly named Rock /USAdown, two independent endeavors that perform separately on tour and on future releases.

This May, Rock / USAdown plans to throw down the gauntlet nationwide for all to see on a tour destined to be an event of legend.[see full story for dates]- Click Here for the Full Story

Today's Reviews
....George Michael - Twentyfive
"Twentyfive" allows you to see George Michael's true talents as a musician and songwriter. While not everyone will always agree with the subject matter of his songs- Michael's talents for music and writing are on par with any musician who has been classically trained. (4.5 stars) - Read the full George Michael - Twentyfive review

....The Berzerker - Animosity
Animosity defines the skill and intensity that The Berzerker has been trying to do since 1995. The attitude and intelligence placed into this disc is an unmatched method that few groups could ever assemble or even consider.- Read the full The Berzerker - Animosity review

....Denelian - False:Positive
Believe it or not, the newness of 80s New Wave music did not fade away, at least according to groups like Denelian. One stroll down this memory lane and you'll suddenly don that Flock of Seagulls pompadour and eye makeup all over again. (4 stars) - Read the full Denelian - False:Positive review

....The Scene: Nublu Scene
New York's "Nublu" scene has so much going for it. Its artists typically start with a dance or jazz template and add elements of techno, trance, R&B and blues. Combining the two uninspired genres, and sprinkling in other kinds of music, might be the best way to save both.- Read the full Nublu Scene review
