(Filter) Kill Rock Stars is giving away a free download of singer-songwriter Elliott Smith's song "Angel In the Snow" to celebrate his birthday. Today he would have been 38 years old. "Angel" is a track from the New Moon,compilation which was released posthumously in 2007 and contains recordings from 1994-1997. Smith died tragically in 2003 from knife wounds to the chest. His death is generally attributed to suicide, but police investigation of his case remains open - more on this story and the link to the song
