Fall Out Boy Denies Sex Tape - Top Story of 07
antiMusic reports: Fall Out Boy main man Pete Wentz has denied he is the latest victim of a leaked sex tape after footage of him writhing with a naked girl appeared on the internet. The video was posted on Youtube but it turns out that the clip is actually from a short film which Wentz starred in.

In a statement on Fall Out Boy's website he wrote: "Just wanted to put the word out on the streets/the internet. There is no Pete Wentz sex tape in existence. About a year and a half ago I took part in an indie gore/horror short film as a favour to my friend Nathan - called goodnight moon.

Either way I'm not into being an actor or having a sex tape either sooooooooo (sic), hopefully u can deal with it."- watch footage from the scene

Bon Jovi for Governor? - Top Story of 07
antiMusic reports: Despite some speculation that Jon Bon Jovi has been positioning himself to run for governor of the state he abandoned, his PR person has denied such plans and says that Jon's "day job is going too well" for him to contemplate such a move. Maybe the pay cut would be too much for him?

Bon Jovi has long been a supporter of left-wing politics and politicians so it's natural to assume that he may want to get involved directly instead of being a fund-raiser for the political causes he believes in. Some have read into a few facts that Jon is positioning himself for a run.

Fact one is that when Jon and his family abandoned their native New Jersey for the trendy mecca of SoHo, Jon kept his house in Red Bank in retain his residency so he could run for governor. They also point to his political appearances with the Al Gore's and John Kerry's of the world. Perhaps thinking his fame would help him actually win elections? And the big one is the fact that Bon Jovi has hired former Mayor David Dinkins chief of staff Ken Sunshine as his new public relations "guru".
Sunshine has dismissed the political speculation- more on this story

Skynyrd Sex Offender Arrest - Top Story of 07
Contact Music reports: Former LYNYRD SKYNYRD drummer ARTIMUS PYLE has been arrested for the second time in eight days after again failing to register as a sex offender. The 59-year-old - real name Thomas Delmer Pyle - was arrested by Florida police on Tuesday (27Nov07) at one of the three addresses he had given to authorities the previous week (19Nov07), when he was taken into custody for the same offence.

Pyle pleaded guilty in 1993 to charges of attempted sexual battery on a victim younger than 12 and also principal to lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 16-years-old. He was sentenced to eight years' probation and ordered to register as a sex offender.

But, having ignored police warnings from his 19 November (07) arrest, he was picked up by cops on Tuesday and is currently being held on $50,000 (GBP25,000) bond, according to Sergeant Chuck Mulligan.

Nas Says You a ------ Too - Top Story of 07
antiMusic reports: [If you are easily offended we recommend you stop reading here. What follows contains quotes from a Nas interview by MTV where he discusses his controversial choice for the title of his new album. If you continue reading and are offended don't blame us, we warned you.] Nas exclusively revealed details about his controversial forthcoming album to MTV News earlier this week. "It's not an attack on any race," he said.

"I have a song called 'The Fear,' " he said. "The full title of the record is 'The Fear of the Black Man's D---.' That's some sh-- you can get comedy [from], or you can get some seriousness from it when you talk about the barbaric castrations that happened in our past; which is very serious, nothing to laugh at."

"It's not an attack on white people at all," he promised, regarding the record's content. "It's knowledge; it's understanding for all people. It's not an attack on any race. It's about the attacks that have happened to blacks, whites, all ethnicities: 'mick' ------s, 'guinea' ------s, 'kike' ------s. I have a song called 'You a ------ Too.' "

Axl Quit GNR To Gain Control of Guns N' Roses - Top Story of 07
antiMusic reports: One of the big revelations in Slash's new autobiography is how the original Guns N' Roses split up and Axl Rose gained control of the group and name. Slash also delivers bad news for those that have been hoping that the original line-up would somehow regroup, it's not going to happen.

Slash writes of the possibility of a reunion: "It's funny, when fans ask me, as they do almost every day, whether Guns, in its original form, will ever reunite, it is hard to take them seriously. That question is so asinine to me; if they knew the real story, they'd already know the answer. But my response is always the same: 'Take a look at what everyone is doing now. Duff and Matt and I are part of a really successful band. Izzy's content doing his thing; Steven too. And Axl is touring with the "new Guns." No one is making phone calls to see when we can get the band together again.'"

Just how did that "new Guns" come about? It started when Axl and the band's manager had the other members of the band sign a contract that gave Axl control of the group name if they ever broke up. And that's exactly what Axl did, he broke the group up. Slash writes that the break up was caused by "Axl wanting control to the point that the rest of us were strangled." Then on August 31, 1995 Axl dropped a bomb on Duff and Slash, the only remaining members at the time, when sent them a letter "saying he was leaving the band and taking the name with him under the terms of the contract." Of course, Slash and Duff were invited to still be part of Axl's band, but you'll have to read to book to learn more about how that worked out.

Eagles Slam Britney - Top Story of 07
Gigwise reports: It's bad enough that the 70s country rock icons denied Britney a triumpant comeback, now one the band leaders has blasted the pop tart and her behavior. Gigwise has the story: The Eagles' Don Henley has hit out at Britney Spears' influence on children, adding that he doesn't want his children to grow up like the popstar.

Henley also said that the band have now replaced the rock'n'roll ethos which they used to live by with a better lifestyle in order to set a good example.

"Things are different to when we were young and single and self-absorbed. Back then all we had to think about was music and girls," Henley said. "(Now each of us are) deeply involved in being a good parent and not having our kids grow up to be Paris Hilton or Britney Spears." [who can argue with that?]- more on this story

Rap and Country Cause Drug Abuse - Top Story of 07
antiMusic reports: We learn something really interesting today. Two things actually. One is that universities use that small fortune you spend on tuition to fund asine studies that have no real benefit to humanity and we also learn that you have to be on drugs to get into popular country music or rap. Or at least you are more likely to encounter music about drinking and drugging if you listen to rap and country music than rock music. Who knew? If you listen to rap or country and are easily influenced you most likely aren't reading this or are too stoned to turn the computer on.

Researches at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine took time out of researching real medical issues or trying to cure diseases and wasted time and resources to look at the top 279 songs on the Billboard charts in 2005. Their mind-shattering discovery was that a third of the songs included references to alcohol and drug use. The bozo that headed this study, Dr. Brian Primack justified this worthless study by saying "Tobacco in movies, for example, is now known to lead to smoking. We started realizing adolescents are exposed to two and a half hours a day of music. What's in the music?"

According to Reuters, the study found that: "nearly 80 percent of rap songs mentioned substance use, followed by 37 percent of country music lyrics, 20 percent of R&B/hip-hop and 14 percent of rock songs. Only nine percent of pop songs referred to drug or alcohol use." And with all that good stuff it still doesn't improve the listen-ability of music but gives idiot professors another way to "blame" music for the ills of society while wasting money instead of realizing that people with certain lifestyles are drawn to music they can relate to.

My Chemical Romance Pay University - Top Story of 07
antiMusic reports: University of Maine have reportedly settled with My Chemical Romance after the band pulled out of a performance on the campus at the last minute. According to PunkNews.org "The band was invoiced for all the promotional costs of the performance, which totaled over $20,000. The student government and the band recently announced a settlement, with the band agreeing to pay the University of Maine's Student Government over $20,500 in restitution."

So why did they pull the plug on the show? Drummer Bob Bryar blogged their reason on their Myspace page last week: Hi, it's Bob. We are very sorry about canceling our recent show in Maine. I have been having many problems with my wrists over the past few years. They have been getting worse but I kept playing. I have seen many doctors to get some relief so I wouldn't have to stop playing. I guess I pushed it too hard this time. During our show at Maxwell's I got a golf ball-sized lump in my wrist, I started to not only have pain, but lose control and feeling in my fingers. I went through a process to control the swelling and attempted to play the show with Bon Jovi the next day.

The Bon Jovi show was really bad for me - I was dropping sticks and could barely hit my drums. After that show we decided I had to go get immediate treatment. I had to leave the tour. Being the stubborn person I am, I made a last minute decision to give it another shot on the second Bon Jovi show. It didn't work, we had to cut the set in half. We have a fill in now as I am getting treatment - he learned the songs in one day. We will try our hardest to make the show up to you when the specialists give me the okay. Thanks for understanding.- listen to their emo sounding non-emo songs

My Bloody Valentine Reunion Confirmed - Top Story of 07
CMJ reports: After a 10-year hiatus, My Bloody Valentine is reuniting and is set to release a new album in the upcoming year.

Lead guitarist Kevin Shields discussed the group's reunion on Soft Focus, the VBS.TV talk show hosted by DC punk Ian Svenonius.

According to Shields, the three-fourths-completed set sounds very much like what you would expect from the Dubliners, as it picks up literally where they left off, largely consisting of songs that the band was working on when they broke up in 1995 (he and fellow Valentiner Belinda Butcher continued to work on songs into the mid-'90s). Radiohead Snub Beatle - Top Story of 07
antiMusic reports: Most people in music wouldn't turn down Beatle Paul when he came a-calling hoping for a collaboration. But Thom Yorke isn't like most people. Gigwise has the story:

Paul McCartney has revealed that Thom Yorke turned him down when he asked him to collaborate on his latest album.

In an interview for T4 he said "My daughter was putting an album together and she put us in touch. I asked Thom to do a duet, but he said he couldn't because he only felt happy working on his own and Radiohead's material."

Fans Sue Hannah Montana - Top Story of 07
antiMusic reports: We've done a few stories recently addressing fan anger at fan clubs. Most notable Bon Jovi fans angry at excessive charged added to fan club tickets on top of what they already paid to become members of the club. Seems Bon Jovi are not alone as Hannah Montana fans are angry at her fanclub over concert tickets policies and aren't just complaining, they are suing.

Billboard has the report: Thousands of "Hannah Montana" fans who couldn't get concert tickets are suing the teen performer's fan club over memberships they claim were supposed to give them priority for seats.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of a New Jersey woman and anyone else who joined the Miley Cyrus Fan Club based on its promise that joining would make it easier to get concert tickets from the teen star's Web site.

Page Hints At More Zeppelin Shows - Top Story of 07
antiMusic reports: Jimmy Page is getting fans hopes up that the whole Led Zeppelin reunion won't just be a one-off, a move that he said would be silly and selfish in a new magazine interview.

Page, frontman Robert Plant and John Paul Jones will reunite for the Ahmet Ertegun education fund benefit show at The O2 in London on December 10th. Led Zeppelin's late drummer John Bonham's son Jason will play in his father's place. Ertegun is the late president of Atlantic Records who signed Led Zeppelin.

Those can't make the London show have a small glimmer of hope that more shows might be in the works. Page addressed the issue in the new issue of Guitar World which comes out next week. "It's a bit silly (for only one date) because there is such a massive demand. It is a bit selfish to do just one show. If that is it we probably shouldn't have taken the genie out of the bottle," Page told the magazine

Boy George Kidnap Arrest - Top Story of 07
antiMusic reports: Did he really want to hurt him? Got Milk? Those are some of the questions Boy George may be asking himself as he faces justice. The androdynous former Culture Club frontman is in hot legal water. He has been charged with the false imprisonment of a 28-year-old man.

On April 28th Boy George, real name George O'Dowd, reportedly invited a male escort to his home and chaining the man to a wall. George was charged this week with the crime and released on bail, scheduled to appear in court on November 22nd.

George reportedly went online to the gay dating website Gaydar and invited Auden Carlsen, the 28-year-old male escort to his apartment in Shoreditch, east London, for a midnight photo shoot for George's fashion boutique. However, things took a strange twist when Auden was left "handcuffed to a hook on the wall shortly after George returned to the flat after nipping out at 5am to buy a pint of milk," according to the Scotsman. Apparently Auden didn't like George's version of hanging out and went to authorities.

QOTSA Kicked Out of Rehab - Top Story of 07
antiMusic reports: If you are playing a rehab it may not be that great of an idea to kick off your set with a song that contains the lyrics "Nicotine, valium, vicodin, marijuana, ecstasy and alcohol... c-c-c-c-c-cocaine". But that's just what Queens of the Stone Age did last at an LA rehab.

NME has the story: Queens Of The Stone Age were forcibly removed from a California rehab facility last week. Josh Homme's desert rockers' plan to perform a six-song show for in-patients at an unnamed Los Angeles drying out clinic came to an abrupt and chaotic end when the band were cut off before the end of the first song and manhandled out of the building by heavy security, NME.COM has learned.

The rehab show was intended as a light-hearted, intimate performance in their home city of Los Angeles

Hotel California Mystery Explained - Top Story of 07
antiMusic reports: There is a cottage industry devoted to trying to decipher the meaning to The Eagles' "Hotel California." They vary from it being about a California mental institution to our favorites dealing with Satanism. Don Henley told 60 Minutes Steve Kroft that the truth of the lyrics are actually rather boring. But before we get to that conversation, here are a couple of the wild theories that were emailed to Urban Legend site Snoops.com:

There's a rumor that's been around for some time concerning the Eagles' song "Hotel California". The basic premise is that the song is about a Christian church that was abandoned (or otherwise vacated) in 1969, and was taken over by an occultic group (usually Satan worshippers). For some unknown reason, it became known as the "Hotel of California". Further rumors have it that the Eagles are Satan worshippers, and that Satan appears in the window on the "Hotel California" album jacket. [another emailer says] I remember hearing as a kid that the Eagle's megaplatinum song "Hotel California" was about Aleister Crowley's mansion near Loch Ness, and the weird goings-on that supposedly happened there; including such "clues" as the line "...they stab it with their steely knives, but they just can't kill The Beast" (Crowley's nickname). It's even been said that if you look on the album cover, you can see Satanic High Preist Anton LeVey in one of the windows. I've looked, and though it is fuzzy... damned if it doesn't look like him.

So did Henley and company sell their souls to Satan and then discuss the torment in song? Not even close. It appears that the song was much like "Life in the Fastlane," which was a look at the culture of the time. In an interview on 60 Minutes earlier this month when he Henley was told by Steve Kroft that "everybody wants to know what the song means." Henley responded, "I know, it's so boring... It's basically a song about the dark underbelly of the American dream, and about excess in America which is something we knew a lot about."

Butch Walker Victim of Ca Fires - Top Story of 07
antiMusic reports: We told you earlier about how Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea lost his $4.8 million Malibu home to recent fire in the region. Flea was not living at the home, in fact he had it on market for sale but we have learned that he was renting it to former Marvalous 3 frontman turned ubber producer Butch Walker (Advil Latrine, Fall Out Boy, etc etc) and Walker said in a statement that he lost everything in the blaze.

According to reports, A family friend was forced to evacuate Walker's family from the home, while the singer/songwriter/producer was in New York City on tour.

Walker said the following in a statement sent to MTV "I had just consolidated my entire recording studio from Atlanta into the house in Malibu. I lost everything I've ever owned. Every master of every song I've ever recorded, every piece of recording equipment, guitars, drums and things I've collected over the years, cars, motorcycles, every family memorial, heirloom, picture, and document we ever had....Gone. I feel like I finally know the difference between 'going back' and 'going home.'"

Adler Pulls an Adler and Nixes Tour At Last Minute - Top Story of 07
antiMusic reports: European fans were once again disappointed by Steven Adler as the former Guns N' Roses drummer pulled out of a tour at the last minute. At least this time he didn't get to Europe and decide to fire the entire band a few shows into the tour. The reason given for the last minute cancellation is health/personal issues. Rumors suggest that he refused to board the plane, but we could not confirm that.

Steven's GNR cover band, Adler's Appetite, were to tour Europe to mark the 20th anniversary of the GNR classic "Appetite for Destruction". Chip Z'nuff issued a statement to fans about the abrupt turn of events: "We sincerely apologize to all our friends and fans for the cancellation of this tour. Of course, Steven loves to play and meet his fans. Unfortunately, he has some personal issues that prevented him from participating. He was optimistic about doing the shows, but when it came down to it, he just couldn't.

"Steven's like a brother to us, and we just want to see him healthy. We're looking forward to making up these shows next year. Please forgive us, and thank you for your patience and understanding. Peace."- more on this story

Manson Buys Human Remains Instead of Paying Band? - Top Story of 07
antiMusic reports: Marilyn Manson is facing more legal action from his former keyboardist after a new complaint was filed, accusing the shock rocker of spending the band's earnings on items made from human remains.

Madonna Wayne Gacy - real name Stephen Gregory Bier Jr. - made the revelation in new legal papers added to his existing lawsuit against the singer, in which he accuses the star of failing to pay him during his time in the band. Bier filed the original lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court in August (07), in which he claims Manson squandered his band's earnings on "sick and disturbing" Nazi memorabilia and a skeleton of a young Chinese girl, among other unusual items.

Bier claims Manson, his business manager, lawyer and the band's manager "filched millions of dollars" from the band's earnings, after promising Bier "partnership proceeds" from the group in 1993. And in the new complaint filed by Bier's lawyer Keith Fink on Wednesday (21Nov07), Bier says Manson bought another skeleton of a man in a wheelchair, and African masks made of human skin - both illegal in the U.S. - according to the New York Post's gossip column PageSix.- more on this story

Pennywise Trying Free Business Model - Top Story of 07
antiMusic reports: Will MySpace replace traditional record labels? Probably not but there is an interesting experiment planned next year with the release of Pennywise's new album. Adweek has the report: MySpace is joining the search for a new business model for the music industry by enlisting the help of advertising.

Next March, fans of punk band Pennywise can go to stores to buy the group's ninth album. Or they can go to the MySpace profile of Textango, a mobile music distributor, and add it as a friend, which will allow them to download the entire album for free.

The promotion is the first test by MySpace of whether it can marry its enormous reach, fledgling record label it began two years ago and roster of advertiser relationships to create an alternative for bands to the current distribution model, which nearly all participants agree is faltering. - more on this story
