Notorious B.I.G. Coming |
PR reports: Bad Boy Records has announced
the upcoming release of the Notorious B.I.G.'s "GREATEST HITS," a 16-track
compilation honoring the extraordinary life and career of the late, great
hip-hop legend. The album - which features tracks spanning the one-and-only
Biggie Smalls's prolific, all-too-brief career, as well as two previously
unreleased cuts - drops into stores on March 6th.
The Notorious B.I.G.'s "GREATEST HITS"
commemorates what is unquestionably one of hip-hop's most remarkable bodies
of work, gathering together such iconic classics as "Juicy," "One More
Chance," "Big Poppa," "Notorious Thugs," "Ten Crack Commandments," "Dead
Wrong," and the #1 smash, "Hypnotize." As a special bonus, the set features
a pair of never-before-released tracks: "Running Your Mouth" and "Want

PR/DiR reports: In June, 2007, Phoenix-based
Colossus Books, a subsidiary of Amber Books, the largest publisher of African
American-related celebrity biographies in the U.S., will publish 'Dr. Dre:
In the Studio' by Jake Brown, which focuses exclusively on the hip hop
production godfather's studio craft, exploring the writing and production
of all of Dr. Dre's catalog of smash hit albums and singles. The book will
debut at the annual Book Expo, being held this year in New York City at
the Jacob Javitz Center. Amber Books' other published titles by Brown include
books on Kanye West, Biggie Smalls, 50 Cent, Tupac Shakur, R. Kelly, Jay
Z, and Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight. Additionally, that same month,
Rock N' Roll Books will publish 'Red Hot Chili Peppers: In the Studio',
also by Brown, which studies the 25 year recording career of the Red Hot
Chili Peppers." [Disclosure: Jake Brown is also an antiMusic contributor.

subsidiary of Eagle Rock Entertainment, will continue its acclaimed Montreux
series of DVDs and CDs by finally releasing on March 20 Yes Live At Montreux
2003 on DVD by England's Prog-Rock heroes, Yes.
Overlooked by the Rock'n'Roll Hall Of Fame,
Yes has put forth a stunning catalog of great music dating back to 1969.
Each and every member of this band is looked up to by two generations of
musicians as being the supreme exemplar of craft�from guitarist Steve Howe,
vocalist Jon Anderson, bassist Chris Squire and keyboardist Rick Wakeman
to drummer Alan White. This is the lineup that gathered together in Switzerland
on this night, its Montreux debut. It is regarded by the band members themselves
as the finest Yes gig ever to be filmed. Fan blogs have been asking for
this set since '03 but its release had been held up pending the solving
of legal clearances. Until now. A satisfying two hours and 18 minutes in
length, the incredible 17-song set, which lists at $14.98, features rare

PR reports: Black Snake Moan is the new film
from Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow) starring Samuel L. Jackson, Christina
Ricci and Justin Timberlake. The scene is set with Jackson playing an old
bluesman that chains up Christina Ricci to 'get the devil out of her.'
In the process of filming, Jackson learns to play guitar, and sings on
the film's soundtrack.
To celebrate the release of Black Snake
Moan, a limited a 7-inch vinyl has been pressed. The record features two
songs performed by Samuel L. Jackson: the oral tradition toast, "Stackolee"
and Blind Lemon Jefferson's "Black Snake Moan." Check out the video for

signing of Sioux Falls, South Dakota's Nodes of Ranvier. Band leader Jon
Parker gets right to the point by saying, "This band has been through many
ups and downs in its seven year existence. What started in a cramped room
in my parents' basement has grown to international exposure. For a bunch
of kids from South Dakota it has been quite a ride and we have achieved
more than we ever originally imagined."
Nodes of Ranvier's last album for Facedown
Records has sold over 15,000 copies since its late 2005 release. The band
will be heading into the studio later this month to record their Victory

TKO reports: Even before their TKO debut drops,
the GLASS HEROES are already back in the studio this month working on their
second full TKO length, "Liars Cheats & Thieves!" With producer &
Punk legend Rat Scabies of the DAMNED at the controls this sophomore effort
will be the HEROES salute to the 30 year anniversary of the Punk Rock explosion.
This new album will contain a cover of the RUTS "Backbiter" with RUT Segs

is about to break through into America's mainstream music consciousness
on the strength of their acclaimed new album, The Walking Wounded, and

their lead track "Duality." Beginning February 21, they will embark on
a nationwide tour with Anberlin. Soon after that, they head to England
for a quick headlining jaunt, before returning to take the stage at the
massive Bamboozle Festival, held at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford,
NJ on May 5 and 6. Then the band really gets into high gear�performing
