Metallica Eye Early 08 Release for New CD
Rockdirt reports: Belgium's Studio Brussel caught up with Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich at the 2007 Rock Werchter Festival over the weekend, where he talked about the band's forthcoming album.

Lars said the backing tracks were done in May and will start vocals and overdubs in August hoping to finish in October or November.

Lars predicted the album will drop in February 2008. He said, "It doesn't sound like 'St. Anger' to me. It's a little early to kind of put in a soundbite exactly. But it doesn't sound anything like 'St. Anger'. It's probably a little more dynamic, and a little more varied, and it has lots of different nutty Metallica stuff on it. I don't know."- more on this story

Dresden Dolls Live DVD
PR reports: The Dresden Dolls Live at the Roundhouse London 2006 DVD will hit stores on 7/10. Here is a little info on the release: London's Roundhouse was simply knackered from hosting the wild antics of The Stones, The Who, The Doors and all forms of naked performance art and avant-theatre in the 1960's and 70's, so it decided to close and sleep in the early 80's. In 2006 it woke up and re-opened its doors. The Dresden Dolls held a conference and decided that yes, this would be the ideal place for a party.

It was a scene to behold: the café was covered in prints that Nick shot during illegal urban explorations of squats in Berlin, there was a bunch of half-naked Australians lurking out in the freezing cold practicing an esoteric Japanese dance form, a makeshift gypsy band hidden under the concrete stairwell, an aerialist from Montreal hanging above a pair of drunken secretaries from L.A., a beat-boxing New Yorker looping himself infinitely, a pair of British buskers with Mohawks beating wildly on household objects, a collection of puppeteered Barbie dolls lip-synching to "Ace of Spades," a roving confessional booth and a magnetic science experiment using My Little Ponies. Oh, and then The Dolls beat the living daylights out of a piano, and a drum-set while everyone sang along. - more on this story

Suffa New (hed)pe
PR reports: Southern California's (hed)pe have recently shot a politically charged video for "Suffa," the first single from their upcoming new album "Insomnia," which is slated for a July 17, 2007 release through Suburban Noize Records.

"We were trying to accomplish a couple things with the video. First, we wanted to get into the warrior mindset, and give respect to the troops," said (hed)pe front man Jared Gomes. "Second, we wanted to stimulate thought about politicians, all over the world, who never see a battlefield and never step into the line of fire."

The album is the follow-up to last year's Suburban Noize debut, Back 2 Base X, which lead to the group embarking on back-to-back sold out tours with Papa Roach and the Kottonmouth Kings, and headlining tours in Europe and Japan.- The video can be viewed online here

Karmina's Kiss
PR reports: CBS Records is proud to announce the digital release of Karmina's EP debut, "The Kiss", on September 9th.

Today's pop music charts are littered with pretenders whose main claim to fame is their daddy's fortune, their ability to lip sync on cue or the fact that they've been successful at acting, so, hey, maybe they can make a record, too! By contrast, the music of Karmina -- helmed by sisters Kelly and Kamille -- reminds us that there's no substitute for actual substance.

Although Kelly and Kamille are only 23 and 21 respectively, they've already acquired a good deal of experience and expertise upon which to build a lasting career. One of the first acts signed to the newly inaugurated CBS Records, they have both the craft and the commitment to make music that's emotional, engaging and inspiring. As evidenced by the songs that will make up their forthcoming debut album -- to be preceded by a five-track EP named for their first single, "The Kiss" Karmina's music possesses a soulful, seductive embrace that tugs at the emotions, without sacrificing the hooks, melodies and exuberant sense of fun found in the very best of pop music. - listen to the song and judge for yourself

ALO Get Festive
PR reports: Hot on the heels of a mighty May that saw their second release ROSES & CLOVER (Brushfire Records),greeted with critical acclaim, and a sold-out tour throughout the U.S., ALO (Animal Liberation Orchestra) is riding high on a wave of success toward the High Sierra Music Festival in Quincy, CA, July 8th.

ALO's lives shows have proven to be just as seductive to not just the ears, but feet of music fans. According to the Philadelphia Daily News, the masterful collective will "free your mind and move your feet with substantial songcraft." The Boston Herald drolly fesses that the abundance of breezy, acoustic jams "would be overkill if not for ALO's way with a melody and knack for pop hooks." Though great songs need a great band to rock the house and give audiences a magical experience. So as the Chicago Sun-Times affirms, "the overall level of musicianship is superb," clearly ALO has that covered.

ALO will be playing at several music festivals and other shows this summer.- grab the dates here
