bin Laden Targets Singer
antiMusic reports: The mystery of identy of the 7,000 people that still buy Whitney Houston CDs has been partially solved. Turns out that when Osama Bin Laden isn't plotting the destruction of the "great satan," he's blasting Whitney's music in his batcave. That also goes a long way in explaining why the rest of al-Qaeda has a deep hatred of the West. Imagine how bad it would be if Osama loved Celine?

You see, ol' Osama is infactuated with the screeching singer and as a result he is reportedly gunning for Bobby Brown's ass. This all came to light via an article by Sudanese writer Kola Boof. Since then Bobby has been watching his back.

"Come on, if anyone is threatened by al-Qaeda they'd take it seriously," Bobby reportedly told an Austrailian radio show. "I figure if Bin Laden wants me, and everybody is looking for him, it won't happen. But if he wants to try and find me for something so stupid, then he can if he wants. I have to leave it in the hands of a higher power." - full story

Serj Down With Solo CD
antiMusic reports: System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian is now a solo path. The outspoken singer is currently in the studio mixing his debut solo album, entitled "Elect The Dead," which will be released on Serjical Strike/Reprise Records this fall.

What can fans expect? Here is a little info that Reprise issued in a press release last week: Known for his work with hard-rock agitators SOAD, Tankian says he had no clue he was about to make a rock record when he began to record at his home studio in Los Angeles last summer. "I was writing more traditional type songs on my piano and acoustic guitar, with a classical, almost operatic flavor; and lo and behold, it ended up being a rock record. Funny what happens when you add distorted guitars and drums," he says. "There are political songs, funny songs, love songs, songs about painful experiences, vanity, and the environment. It has a deep melancholy that runs from the personal to the global, with a glimmer of hope in the solidarity of spirit."

Tankian produced "Elect The Dead" himself and played most of the instruments, though the album does feature guest- find out who that might be here and here more from Serj

antiMusic Prize
antiMusic reports: It's almost that time of year again. That's right, time for the antiMusic Prize! Where one lucky winner will walk away with $2.37 (minus $2.37 shipping and handling) and the honor of being the antiMusic Prize winner. We'll be opening up nomination in the next week or two so you can submit your favorite artists for this stunning honor. Once nominations close, we'll take your nominations, disregard the ones we don't like and come up with a list of 12 finalist that you will vote for! Stay tuned for that.

In other news, the Mercury Prize nominations were announced and while less prestigious than the antiMusic Prize and not quite as cool as Uncle Joe's Crab Shack Battle of the Bands in Tupelo each spring, some people go goo goo over this prize where the winner walks away with 20 pounds (not of drugs, Brit money to spend on drugs or drink). The Arctic Monkeys walked away with the glory last year, we don't know what they spent the windfall on but they are up for the prize again this year and are looking to make history as the first artist to snag the honor two years in a row. Amy Winehouse will be giving them a run for the beer money and 2003 Dizzee Rascal isn't going to sit tight for just any monkeys trying to steal his cash. The Klaxons, The View and bunch of other people we never heard are also battling it out for the honor that will awarded at a live ceremony in London on September 4th. - full list of nomies here

Rammstein Singer Switch a Hoax?
Blabbermouth reports: According to The Gauntlet, RAMMSTEIN's management has dismissed as a hoax a press release that was issued on the band's behalf announcing the departure of singer Till Lindemann and addition of En Esch (KMFDM, PIGFACE, SLICK IDIOT) as his replacement.

"[The news that Till would be leving the band following the completion of the band's new record] is not true and was not released by either band or management," a group representative said.

"We have no idea where this comes from. The band is writing a new album at present."- mehr heir

Sepultura Get Inflikted
antiMusic reports: When news got out that Max and Igor Cavalera have mended the fence and began working together, many assumed that a Sepultura reunion was in the offing. Not so says Max. It will be an entirely new band complete with a new name and some punk thrown into the mix. The name is... Inflikted. Maybe they have been hanging out with Korn or Linkin Park?

Max spoke with Metal Hammer about the new band and Max offered this description of their sound: "very punk, very hardcore, but also metal too. You'll hear stuff and you'll know it's coming from songs like 'Arise' and 'Beneath The Remains.' I've even done some death metal stuff 'Morbid Visions'-style which I haven't done for ages. Everyone was into it and it was such fun to record that sh*t. And we did fun stuff like a Possessed cover, 'The Exorcist,' but we did it in a more punk style."

Metal Hammer then asked, How worried are you that people will look at you reuniting with Igor and jump the gun by assuming it's some kind of Sepultura reunion?: "I tried to do this as naturally as possible. If you play together and that's the way the music comes out then you can't really change anything, even if you wanted to," Max responded. "There's a natural f**king energy coming out of both of us playing together. It's something I have no control over, because we have both worked on different things for many years and learned different stuff."- You can read the entire interview here

Quickies: Jacko, Paris, Underwood and Sum 41
antiMusic reports: A Superior Court judge has ordered Michael Jackson to pay $256,000 to the lawfirm Ayscough & Marar. The firm sued Jacko after the singer stiffed them for legal fees related to work they did to help prevent "the release of some information to the public and to lawyers in civil cases during his 2005 criminal trial," according to AP.

The follow up to Carrie Underwood's six-million plus selling, Some Hearts, has a release date. Arista will drop the new one from the country pop idol on October 23rd. Mark Bright is producing the as-yet-untitled album.

Speaking of sophomore albums, Paris Hilton is going to give a pop career another shot. The heir head is working on a new album, despite being dropped from her label. "I'm already working on my new record," Hilton told E! Online. "I've been in meetings with Scott [Storch] and we've been working on it." No word yet if it will include a cover of "Jail House Rock".

Avril posted a statement on her Myspace blog thank fans for their support through the entire song theft ordeal but unlike her public denial of stealing from The Rubinoos, she didn't counter the latest claim that she ripped off Peaches "I'm The Kinda". Instead she asked her punk rawking fans to support the equally hardcore new album from her boyfriends band. That's right Sum 41 is releasing a new CD, Underclass Hero, and it's streaming in it's entirety on MTV.com's The Leak. - Click here if you are punk enough to handle it.

Snorting Viagra with Ace and more as Eric Singer KISS and Tells
CC Banana reports: Drummer Eric Singer was recently interviewed live onstage at the 21st annual NY/NJ Kiss Expo by rock & roll comic C.C. Banana. Part serious interview and part comedy roast, the exchange has been transcribed and is now available online. Topics include original Kiss drummer Peter Criss, Eric's numerous hirings and firings from the band and Ace Frehley's experimentations with Viagra. C.C. Banana: In 1995, it was you who suggested to Gene and Paul that they should let Peter Criss sit in with the band at one of the official Kiss Konventions. This set off a chain of events that ultimately led to a reunion of the original Kiss lineup, causing you and Bruce Kulick to be fired from the group. Looking back, how badly did you want to kick your own ass for making that suggestion?

Eric Singer: Well, it was Gene and Paul who told me that Peter wanted to come down to the convention with his daughter. They wanted to know if I would be uncomfortable with that. I told them that not only would I not be uncomfortable, they should let Peter come up and play. That led to the taping of MTV Unplugged, which eventually led to the full reunion. But they still had no idea how things were going to play out with Ace and Peter. So if the reunion ultimately didn't work or if the tour was a flop, they already had the Carnival of Souls album in the can and they still had Bruce and me on retainer. That's why they kept us on the payroll, so they could just pick up where they left off. We were sort of a "Plan B." That part wasn't so bad because we were still getting paid while they were out doing the reunion tour.

Read Eric's recollections of being fired by Gene two times, Ace kissing Peter's drumstick (the one between his legs), snorting Viagra and putting a hex on Gene. plus more fun with- more on this story
