Rapper Smashes Pumpkins
antiMusic reports: Billy Corgan's new Smashing Pumpkins project wasn't strong enough to kick T.I. to curb, or rather from the spot atop the Billboard 200 charts. The Smashing new CD 'Zeitgeist' did attract 145,000 fans this past week to debut at No. 2. T.I.'s "T.I. vs. T.I.P." took a sharp nosedive in sales (65%) but still managed to hold on to the top of the chart with sales of 175,000.

Miley Cyrus' "Hannah Montana 2" dropped one spot to No 2 on sales of 128,000 units proving once again that Tweens with their mother's credit card can inflict damage. Interpol's major-label debut "Our Love To Admire," debuts on the US charts at No. 4 with sales of 73,000 while Kelly Clarkson assumed the No 5 position with her latest "My December" which grabbed the attention of 59,000 more people last week which helped her relegate Bon Jovi's "Lost Highway" to sixth place with 4,000 fewer copies of the country hair metal opus being sold last week.- The big question though: Is Velvet Revolver now firing blanks?

Fall Out Baby?
antiMusic reports: It was a pretty dead day for real music news but children's entertainment had some hefty headlines with a reported leak of the ending to the final Harry Potter book (he falls in love with Clay Aiken) and news of a Fall Out Baby.

Will the world soon welcome an eye shadow wearing, lip-synching, emo love child? According to a host of always reliable tabloids the answer is yes. Pete Wentz has reportedly proven his manhood by knocking up Ashlee Simpson. Of course, this news comes from the sources that give us UFO sightings and the adventures of rabbit boy.

The tabs took it one step further and reported that Wentz will do the honorable thing and wed the lip-synching popstar. The couple were reportedly engaged under of the romantic backdrop of New Jersey during the Live Earth debacle. However, the mime's representatives told USmagazine.com that the engagement story was "absolutely not true." However, contrary to some reports, the pregnancy was not denied in the USmagazine.com story, who also broke the ground breaking story today that Tori Spelling lost 22 pounds. Yes, we were shocked too as soon as we remembered who she was, shocked that they are still covering her.
- but did they deny the bun in the oven? find out here

White Stripes Stage Silliest Publicity Stunt Yet
antiMusic reports: Is your album not selling as well as you hoped? Even after staging a heavily covered publicity stunt in Hollywood to kick it off? Not to mention using planes, trains and other vehicles to try and generate interest. What's a band to do? If you are The White Stripes you trick some of your fans into attended a secret performance and reward them with a single note.

It's being billed as the briefest White Stripes gig ever by the more generous reporters. In fact, it was one of the silliest publicity stunts thus far from Jack White and co. And that's saying a lot.

Jack and Diane, oh wait... Meg, reportedly had a stage set up Monday on George Street in St. John, Canada, where they jumped up and played a single note before rushing off to their real concert at Mile One Stadium. In case you were wondering, the note was a C-sharp according to reports. - more on this story

Biomechanical Lose Member
antiMusic reports: Biomechanical is not having a very good month. First they had a fire in the studio where they were recording and they were then forced to pull out of a scheduled tour with Sikth. The icing on the cake of their bad month is the departure of a member.

The band announced via their Myspace page that Matt C has left the band. John K broke the news to fans with this message: "Unfortunately Matt C has left Biomechanical for personal reasons. He is one of the best drummers we had the fortune to work with and we wish him all the best!

We are just about to finish our third album but it seems the release will be delayed as a result of the live situation plus the record label wants to make sure that the release will happen on a time where it will get it's maximum support. Will announce the new release date soon.''- more on this story

Singing With The Enemy
PR reports: BBC Three will be 'Singing With The Enemy' this Fall. This according to a press release we received. It actually sounds like an interesting primus for a show far better than the "Celeb reality" crap we are feed here in the States. No word on when this will debut but here is the PR with info on the show: Imagine a wholesome all-girl pop band forced to collaborate with a misogynistic death metal group. Or a sleazy, sex-obsessed punk band sharing a house with an evangelical Christian group. They come from radically different tribes and now they're going to have to live with their worst enemy while they attempt to write, record and perform a genre-defying song. It's an opportunity to break through for talented unsigned bands desperate for recognition. But is it a recipe for musical and moral meltdown?

Each episode of Singing with the Enemy brings together two bands with nothing in common other than a passion for music and a desire to expand their musical horizons. Under the guidance of top record producer Tommy D the bands will have just one week to dream up and record a brand new track and then perform a surprise gig in front of their die-hard fans. The challenges extend far beyond trying to unite two opposing musical styles. Living together in an intense pressure cooker of creativity, the bands must struggle to reconcile their differences - whether cultural, religious or ideological as well as musical - if they want to stand a hope of meeting the tight studio deadline and impressing Tommy D.- more on this story

MTV Programming Just Gets Dumber and Dumber
PR reports: Comic book guru STAN LEE is working with PARIS HILTON on a new cartoon series for MTV. Details are sketchy at present but the Marvel comics superhero creator admits he's delighted with the project so far.

He tells TV Guide magazine, "She won't be your typical superhero."

[instead of fighting crime she'll be seen shopping in Beverly Hills, partying at Losers Lounge (a.k.a Hyde), fighting her evil nemesis (TMZ) by getting loaded and running them over with her overpriced car. But she'll be good in the sex scenes. Must see TV indeed.]- Lee had more to say on this ridiculous development, read that here.

Ratt Riot
antiMusic reports: Your favorite 80s bands never die, their members just regroup with members of other bands of the era. The latest example is a new project featuring former Ratt-man Juan Croucier and the axeman that helped take Quiet Riot to the top of the charts in the early 80s. No not Randy Rhoads, Carlos Cavazo.

Juan announce the formation of the new group on Tuesday. He writes: Rehearsals have been underway and the band is now ready to play shows throughout the US and abroad. "John and I have been searching a long time for the right ingredient to this band. Being a three-piece band, the guitar player was critical. To cut the field even more, you had to be able to sing really well too.

Over the course of the last six months we auditioned quite a few guitar players. While doing that, I developed a very short list of exceptional professional musicians that I believed held truly unique and special talents. Among others on that list was Carlos Cavazo. I contacted him and we hit if off right away, we then played together for the first time and presto! The band was indeed complete. I know band chemistry and I know when something is special, this is special; an absolute musical paradigm shift! We're looking forward to bringing the music to the people." - Juan Croucier
