Day of Silence for the Day in Rock
PR reports: Tomorrow, June 26, thousands of webcasters / Internet radio stations will be observing a day of silence in protest of the Copyright Royalty Board's outrageous royalty rate hike. While we do not webcast and the royalty hike does not hit us directly we are joining the webcasters in this protest, many of which will have to shutdown if the rates take effect because the rates will exceed 100% of their profit. To add insult to injury, these rates will be retroactive and only hurt online radio as over-the-air radio does not have to pay these specific royalties. So tomorrow the Day in Rock will not be published but will return on Wednesday.

You can help stop this from happening by contacting your members of Congress and asking them to support the The Internet Radio Equality Act, which will stop this unfair tax on Internet radio while insuring the stations pay their FAIR share of royalties (the same as Satellite radio). See the full story link for more information and to find the contact info for your members of Congress. - Click Here for the Full Story

Circus Diablo Week: Loaded
Day in Rock reports: Circus Diablo, the band fronted by The Cult's Billy Morrison and also features Billy Duffy (The Cult), Ricky Warwick (Almighty), and Brett Scallions (Fuel) are releasing their self-titled debut album next week. The album features a guest appearance by Matt Sorum (Guns N' Roses, The Cult, Velvet Revolver) who played the drums on all of the tracks. Slut's Charles Ruggiero will be drumming on the upcoming tour with Mondo Generator (QOTSA) and on Ozzfest.

To celebrate the release, we asked frontman Billy Morrison to give us the lowdown on his top five favorite tracks from the CD. Here's Billy will today's song and the first single LOADED. The obvious choice for our first single. It's the age old juxtaposition between a woman and a drug. Having had much experience with both, its a subject that was close to my heart! "My temptation gets me every time"...obvious, but true. How many times do you find yourself calling the girl at 3:00am because you know she'll tell you to come over, but when you're done, you just wanna get the f*ck out?!!! [grab a listen at the full story link and pick up the CD next Tuesday!] - Click Here for the Full Story

Clear Channel Pickpockets
Idolator.com reports: So remember that payola settlement from a few months ago, the one that was supposed to give indie labels a leg up on the radio by mandating that a certain amount of programming had to be on those labels? Well, we thought that the intent of the program would be torpedoed by the shows airing during "public affairs" hours (also known as "7 a.m. Sunday"), but Clear Channel's version of the program, which is called Discover NEW! Artists and somehow includes the Universal-signed Sick Puppies among its ranks, is somehow worse, and not just because it includes that very crummy Australian band. The wrinkle is this: Bands and labels that agree to the deal agree to sign away their royalty rights in perpetuity[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
