Circus Diablo Week: Mad Parade
Day in Rock reports: Circus Diablo, the band fronted by The Cult's Billy Morrison and also features Billy Duffy (The Cult), Ricky Warwick (Almighty), and Brett Scallions (Fuel) are releasing their self-titled debut album next week. The album features a guest appearance by Matt Sorum (Guns N' Roses, The Cult, Velvet Revolver) who played the drums on all of the tracks. Slut's Charles Ruggiero will be drumming on the upcoming tour with Mondo Generator and on Ozzfest.

To celebrate the release, we asked frontman Billy Morrison to give us the lowdown on his top five favorite tracks from the CD. Here's Billy will today's song. MAD PARADE. All about a certain friend of mine that seems to hire and fire his friends!! It's not hard to figure out who I'm singing about if you listen to the words. But although I don't hold any deep grudge, I did find writing this song a very cathartic experience. The bad taste he left in my mouth started to disappear as I wrote these lyrics. Kinda like Listerine for the soul. When a friend f**ks you over, it's never a nice experience. [grab a listen at the full story link and pick up the CD next Tuesday!]

Led Zeppelin Reunion
Launch reports: Led Zeppelin are reportedly about to reunite for a one-off memorial concert. If true, it would mark the third time that the '70s legends have played since disbanding.

After the death of drummer John Bonham in 1980, founding members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones regrouped for Live Aid in 1985 (with Phil Collins) and for Atlantic Records' 40th Anniversary concert (with Bonham's son Jason).

It is now suggested that the latter formation will play a special concert in memory of Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun in London. A source said: "Page, Plant, and Jones spoke and agreed to do the memorial concert. They are waiting for a definite date. [deja vu? see full story for more] - Click Here for the Full Story

Eminem Beer?
Idolator.com reports: The music business' latest attempt to create new revenue streams comes from a division of Universal Music Group, which, in an attempt to ape Sammy Hagar's tequila success, has enlisted a beverage company to market drinks emblazoned with the likenesses of its artists:
Drinks Americas Holdings Ltd., the company behind a Donald Trump vodka, Willie Nelson's "Old Whiskey River" bourbon and a line of Paul Newman-branded juice drinks, is set to announce today an agreement with Universal Music Group's Interscope Geffen A&M label group. Universal Music Group is owned by French media conglomerate Vivendi SA.

The idea of the deal, executives of both companies said, is to come up with brands of drinks -- both alcoholic and nonalcoholic -- that bear the imprimatur of artists on Interscope's roster, which includes Eminem, producer Dr. Dre and Sting. [say what you want about David Geffen but he got rich the old fashioned way... by putting out music that people wanted but no other label had the balls to release. Hippy Orchestra
Jam! reports: It may be the longest, strangest trip the Grateful Dead's music has endured - a performance by a symphony orchestra under the baton of a classical composer.

But to Lee Johnson, the guy with the baton, the real surprise is that his world of high culture took as long as it did to embrace the world of counterculture for which the Grateful Dead provided so much of the soundtrack.

The work, assembled from nearly a dozen songs and recorded by the Russian National Orchestra, was released as a download in May and on CD on Tuesday.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Thrice Leave Island
punkbands reports: Thrice is no longer with Island Records. Here's how they put it...

"Over the past couple of years, we've realized that we have different visions for the band's future and we both agree that we'd be better off going our separate ways at this point. We're very grateful for all the help and support they've given us for the past four years. Thankfully, they've been generous enough to let us keep the record we're currently recording, and we're hopeful that this change in plans won't delay its release. We're currently in the process of finding a new home, and will let you all know once we do so."[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
