Angels & Airwaves Week: Love Like Rockets
antiMusic reports: It seems like only yesterday that Angels & Airwaves released their debut album but the band isn't messing around and a little over a year after that CD dropped they are already back with their sophomore effort, 'I-Empire,' which hits stores this week. To celebrate the release we asked Atom Willard to pick his favorite five tracks from the new CD and tell us a little bit about each one. Here is Atom with today's song "Love Like Rockets"

A more typical AVA song, it does all the stuff we hoped it would, build, build and then build some more until the release at the chorus. We had the idea of trying to incorporate the "message from space" since it was definitely a historical moment. We thought about the impact that broadcast must have had on the imaginations of our nation, and the world, and wanted to capture some of that for ourselves. We knew we needed permission but kept stalling on asking, fearing denial, but NASA was actually really cool with us using it.

Just in case you didn't know Angels & Airwaves is former blink-182 & Box Car Racer guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge, Offspring drummer Atom Willard, David Kennedy from Box Car Racer and former 30 Seconds to Mars bassist Matt Wachter. Tom produced the new album. Preview some tracks from the CD, learn more about the band and CD and more - right here

Prince Attacks Fans
Gigwise reports: And the fan appreciation award once again goes to Prince! Seems the purple one had launched a new legal attack against those damn pesky fans that dare to put up websites devoted to him. A few of the leading Prince sites are fighting back.

Gigwise has the report: Prince has launched an extraordinary legal clampdown against his own fan websites. The singer's three largest web communities, Prinfams, Housequake and Prince.org have all received legal notices to remove all "photographs, images, lyrics, album covers and anything linked to Prince's likeness."

Prince's demands which include asking the websites to remove fan's own photographs of Prince inspired tattoos and Prince inspired number plates have forced the web communities to create, PrinceFansUnited, in a bid to challenge the legal action.

Myspacers Vs Satanic 50 Cent
antiMusic reports: "The world will be a better place when this satanic piece of filth retires and stops making music," a Christian group said of 50 Cent as they plan a campaign to have people swamp the rapper's Myspace page with requests that he retire.

Contact Music has the story: A Christian media watchdog group is calling for "satanic" rapper 50 CENT to retire. The Resistance spokesman Mark DICe says, "It is time for 50 Cent to be a man of his word, and retire."

The Resistance objects to the hip-hop superstar's lyrics and lifestyle, and want him to step down as he promised he would if Kanye West's Graduation beat his Curtis disc to the top of the U.S. albums chart - which it did. - more on this story

Eagles Blackout Britney
antiMusic reports: The Eagles were the clear winner this week having sold over 700,000 copies of their new album "Long Road Out of Eden." However, Britney having sold about half as many copies of her "comeback" album will likely be at the top of the Billboard charts because Wal-Mart who sold the Eagles album exclusively does not report to SoundScan (according to a Reuters report) which is a bit of a head scratcher since they are reportedly one of the largest sellers on music in the U.S. So just how valid are the Billboard charts that rely on those SoundScan numbers? And do record companies rely on those numbers to award gold and platinum albums? Some interesting questions to ponder.

After our story posted, we received an update from Billboard, they have now changed their policy so The Eagles will head the Billboard album chart. Here is part of what they sent over: The Eagles' first new studio album in 28 years, "Long Road Out of Eden," takes a short route to No. 1 on The Billboard 200 after Billboard revised a significant chart policy today (Nov. 7). In consultation with Nielsen SoundScan, Billboard will now allow exclusive album titles that are only available through one retailer to appear on The Billboard 200 and other Billboard charts, effective with this week's charts. Prior to this, proprietary titles were not eligible to appear on most Billboard charts.

EarlyNielsen SoundScan numbers have the Eagles taking the top perch on The Billboard 200 with 711,000 copies sold, with most sales moved by Wal-Mart and Sams Club stores... Britney Spears' new Jive album, "Blackout," which would have been No. 1 had the Eagles' data not been reported, will open at No. 2 with first-week sales of 290,000 copies. News.

Genghis Tron Complete CD
antiMusic reports: Genghis Tron have finished recording their new album. They made the following announcement: After well over a year of very hard work, we're incredibly happy and relieved to announce that we've finally finished our second album, Board Up the House. It will be released via Relapse Records during the latter half of February. "We finished tracking and mixing at Godcity Studio (Salem, MA) with Kurt Ballou in late September, but we just completed the mastering process a few days ago.

The album soundshuge. I'll leave it at that. We've never been prouder. However, in lieu of spouting some self-serving hyperbole about achieving our twisted vision and/or making the best and most unique GT album to date, we'll let the tunes speak for themselves. Keep your eyes and ears open for a preview track in the near future.

Once our album comes out in February, we'll be spending the rest of the year bringing these new tunes to audiences everywhere. - more on this story

Maiden Plan Major Bonus For Live After Death DVD
BW&BK reports: In a conversation with EMI Records, IRON MAIDEN bass legend Steve Harris talks about Brazil and reveals that Rock In Rio '85 will be included on the Live After Death DVD reissue.

"Brazil is one of our favourite places to play," says Harris. "The Brazilians are passionate fans since the first time we played there in 1985, during the World Slavery Tour. Until today, that's our biggest show ever in terms of audience and since then we have just had the biggest support possible from our fans everytime we came to Brazil.

Often we are asked what are the higher points of our career and the shows in Rock in Rio (1985 and 2001) always come to my mind. Not necessary to say that we are very glad to back and see our friends again - some, who knows, that we've met for the first time in 1985! We included the Rock In Rio 1985 show in the Live After Death DVD that we are producing to release next year - more on this story
