Slash Duped By Realtor
SleazeRoxx.com reports: Saul Hudson -- or as he's better known, "Slash" of Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver -- and his wife have filed suit over a house they say they were duped into buying.

TMZ obtained the lawsuit, filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, against real estate agent Gregory Holcomb and Sotheby's International Realty, in which the Hudsons claim they "thought they had found their dream house," but say it turned out to be a nightmare.

The suit says, among other things, they were told the house was on a private, gated street. The house, they allege, turned out to be on a public street with very little parking. They also say it was much smaller than the 7800 sq. ft. in the listing, and there were issues with the home's title. - more on this story

Celeb Justice For Lohan
BBC reports: Actress [and wanna be pop singer] Lindsay Lohan has spent 84 minutes in jail after admitting to drunken driving and cocaine possession.

The 21-year-old, who was sentenced in August to one day in jail, was searched before being put in a holding cell at the Los Angeles County jail.

The charges stemmed from arrests following an alleged car chase in July, and a crash in Beverley Hills in May. The Sheriff's spokesman said Ms Lohan was "cooperative". Jail sentences are often shortened due to overcrowding.

Zombie Talks Turkey
PR reports: Forget Halloween. Thanksgiving is the scariest time of year─if you're a turkey. So peta2 looked no further than Rob Zombie to narrate the message on its new holiday hotline, 1-888-VEG-FOOD, where callers can hear the Halloween and House of 1000 Corpses director warn that eating turkey supports misery that even the horror king can't stomach.

"Every year, Butterball's Turkey Talk Line answers questions about how to boil, broil, roast, and toast the bodies of these gentle, smart, and social birds," begins Zombie's message. "What Butterball doesn't tell you is that it, like other meat companies, tortures turkeys before they end up in grocery stores."

Zombie went vegetarian while in high school after seeing a documentary about slaughterhouses. "It freaked me out, and I found it so disgusting that I stopped eating meat," he says. - more on this story

Mars Volta Playing Games
PR reports: Beginning the first week of January, visitors to the Amazon.com music page (http://amazon.com/music) will be the first to experience "Goliath The Soothsayer," an online game based on The Mars Volta's forthcoming The Bedlam In Goliath. The game will be available exclusively via Amazon.com from January 2nd through January 29th, the official street date for the new record. Pre-order is not necessary to play to the game.

"Goliath The Soothsayer" is based on the true story that inspired the narrative laid out on The Bedlam In Goliath. Like previous Mars Volta efforts De-Loused In The Comatorium and Frances The Mute, the album is a thematically linked whole, the songs chapters in a bigger story, inspired by real people, places and events.

The Bedlam In Goliath chronicles The Mars Volta's time with the "Soothsayer" a/k/a the Ouija board owned by vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala, and its mutation from a source of amusement during the tour supporting the band's Amputechture album into a malevolent psycho-spiritual force that nearly tore the group apart, collectively and individually. - A trailer for the game can be viewed here

Jawbox on Cello: A Benefit for Cal Robbins
PR reports: Jawbox was one of the DC post-punk scene's most influential, yet under-appreciated bands. After breaking up in the late 90's following a string of four amazing albums, their influence and notoriety has only grown with the passing years. When Jawbox founder J. Robbins and his wife Janet learned in late 2006 that their infant son, Callum, had the debilitating neuromuscular disease Type I Spinal Muscular Atrophy, musicians and fans from all over the world asked how they could help. Some held benefit shows, made benefit compilations, or simply donated at the page that fellow ex-Jawbox members Kim Coletta and Bill Barbot set up at the Desoto Records website.

Longtime fan and cellist Gordon Withers, of Boston indie rockers Betwixt fame, realized that now was the time to dust off the Jawbox cello arrangements he'd written for a college project back in 2000. Earlier this year, he hooked up with producer/songwriter Alex Nelson (Frenjen) and headed into Alex's Ft. Lauderdale studio. The result is Jawbox on Cello: A Benefit for Cal Robbins, a collection of twelve Jawbox songs, several from each of their four albums, arranged for cello ensemble that will be released digitally on December 18 through Ioda. Withers played all the parts on the album, using the wide dynamic range of the cello to highlight Jawbox's amazing melodies and song-craft, which were formerly often hidden behind their walls of guitar distortion.

After a few successful small shows in Florida playing against a backing tape, Withers has moved north to the Washington, DC area, and hopes to hold a series of shows with a full cello quartet throughout the northeast as logistics permit. He has already performed in Brooklyn and will be booking more shows in the near future. Jawbox on Cello will be available for purchase at all shows, and all proceeds benefit the Cal Robbins Care Fund. The album is also available from Withers' - Myspace page

Lou Reed War Songs
PR reports: Lou Reed has been known to be intensely moved by historical and international events and conflicts. Just recently, Reed composed and recorded two brand new songs -- "Gravity" and "Safety Zone" -- both inspired by the soon-to-be released film NANKING--a powerful and relevant documentary that tells the story of the Japanese invasion of Nanking, China, in the early days of World War II. It is an emotional reminder of the heartbreaking toll that war takes on the innocent, and a testament to the courage and conviction of a few individuals determined to act in the face of evil.

The events of the film are told through deeply moving interviews with Chinese survivors, archival footage, and chilling testimonies of Japanese soldiers, interwoven with staged readings of the Westerners' letters and diaries as performed by Woody Harrelson, Mariel Hemingway, Jurgen Prochnow, and Stephen Dorff, among others.

Presented by THINKfilm, directed by the Academy-Award-winning team of Bill Guttentag and Dan Sturman and marking the producing debut of AOL Vice Chairman Emeritus Ted Leonsis, Nanking premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2007 and was the winner of the 2007 Sundance Documentary Editing Award. The film will be released on December 12 in New York City at The Film Forum followed by a national release in January 2008. - more on this story
