Bobaflex Week: Home and That Ole Speed
antiMusic reports: Bobaflex's new album 'Tales From Dirt Town' hits stores the day before Halloween but this week we'll get you primed for it as we asked Marty McCoy to pick his favorite tracks from the CD and tell us a bit about each one. Here is Marty with today's songs "Home" and "That Ole Speed":

Home: "A song about being on the road.. the ups and the downs. About each band member at different times over the last 5 years"

That Ole Speed: "Wrestling with the demons of speed. It seems to be everywhere and always seems to be presented to the band or just anyone in general. Seems like everyone has had their problems with it or the temptation. It was a really fun song to record"

Wanna hear? The band are previewing one song a day on their Myspace page. Check that out right- here

Linkin Park Injury
antiMusic reports: Chester Bennington sat on a wall. Chester Bennington had a great fall. Ok not quite, but the Linkin Park vocalist did break his arm Sunday during a concert in Melbourne. However, all the kings men or horses were not needed to put him back together again. He just kept on singing, a bit like the Energizer bunny. That Chester is trooper!

Mike Shinoda broke the news to fans on the Linkin Park Underground messsageboard. Here is what he had to say: yeah, chester broke his arm / wrist at the melbourne show. he broke it sometime around the fourth song in, and proceeded to play the entire show with a broken arm. it was amazing...thanks very much for your "get well" wishes, i'll pass them on. BTW, he says he'll be fine to do all the rest of the shows and meet and greets, so don't worry! more to come later

oh yeah, please spread the word so people know the shows and meet and greets are still going on, as planned--you know how internet rumors can get. his arm is in a lot of pain, but he said he's not going to cancel anything at this point.

The band's official site has some behind the scenes- video of the break

Biggest Bitches in Music
antiMusic reports: One thing we love about Gigwise is their sense of humor, which of course includes their infamous countdown lists/galleries. They have just posted our favorite by far- The music world's biggest bitches! Here is their intro followed by the link: In our role as the best music news resource on the web Gigwise is forever writing about the latest musician to be slagging off one of their peers.

So, while thinking up ideas for our latest galleries we thought why not compile a rundown of the music world's biggest bitches. From Lily Allen to Elton John and Marilyn Manson to Mark E Smith they all feature in the countdown.

We think you may be surprised by the person who claimed the number one spot but if you've been reading Gigwise daily in the past few years you'll agree that they deserve it! [we don't agree, they should swap 1 and 2 or make 2 no 1 and no 6 no 2. Nevertheless, click here to check it out for- yourself!]

Rehab Duets Vol I
antiMusic reports: We can't really believe this story but it appears to be legit. The UK's two leading drug ingesting musical misfits are joining forces and are even working on the material in a rehab. Maybe they can inspire a new CD series- "Now! That's What I Call Stoned! Vol..." Contact music has the report: British singer Amy Winehouse traveled to Pete Doherty's rehab clinic to prepare for their latest track.

The Rehab hitmaker, 24, has teamed up with the Babyshambles to record a "ska-type" single close to Doherty's clinic in Wiltshire, England. Winehouse will play the guitar for the collaboration - and her efforts have impressed Babyshambles' guitarist Mik Whitnall.

He says, "She plays better than James Brown playing acoustic guitar. She thinks she's s**t but she's not. I've never met a girl who plays like that, let alone a man."

Solo Weezer
antiMusic reports: While Weezer fans are up in the air when they will get a new Weezer album. (All eyes are on 2008. Might we suggest calling it the the purple album?) Rivers comes through with not only new music for fans but also a book! That's right you can read and listen. Well, listen sooner and read sometime in the future. Maybe around the time that new Weezer album comes out. Filter has the report:

Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo has announced via (what else now a days?) his personal Myspace, that he will release a collection of demos from 1992-2007 for an official CD release. Alone - The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo, will be released on December 11 courtesy of Geffen Records.

Cuomo also admitted that the collection of demos was originally intended to be released in conjunction with a book. He then confirmed that his book, which is sitting on nearly 400 pages, will be released separately with no estimated time of release at the moment.- More music news and features at Filter

Universal Vs iTunes with Higher Priced Rival?
antiMusic reports: If you can't get em to charge more, then take your toys and go home? Apparently that's the thinking at UMG. The leading music group is apparently thinking about setting up a rival to iTunes after Steve Jobs refused to raise rates. Shouldn't they at least lower the prices on 50 Cent's catalog to avoid false advertising accusations? Gigwise has the report: Universal Music Group is reported to be in discussions with a number of record labels to help launch a subscription rival to Apple's online music store, iTunes.

Universal's decision to form an alternative service to iTunes comes after the company decided not renew its contract with Apple, which enables music by its artists, such as 50 Cent, to be downloaded from their digital music store.

Universal Music chief Doug Morris said that the decision not to resign was taken after Steve Jobs, the head of Apple, failed to reconsider the minimum royalty level that record labels get from the sale of music via iTunes. [reportedly that's 70 cents per each 99 cent song]- more on this story

Joshua Tree Is 20 Years Older, Time for a Reissue
Filter reports: There is a growing trend in the music biz. They figure if you liked the CD enough to buy it once you should have no problem buying it again. (At least with some extras.) Most of these reissues are a bit of overkill and a mallcore label tend to do this with most releases only a few months after the original CDs hit stores. On the other hand there are landmark albums that deserve a second release in special remastered glory- sometimes with the extras- sometimes without. U2's The Joshua Tree seems to fit that bill. Here is Filter with the details:

Twenty years ago the release of The Joshua Tree catapulted U2 to soaring levels of popularity. To commemorate the twenty year anniversary the album will be re-released as a single re-mastered CD, a 2CD set, a 2 CD 1 DVD package and a double vinyl set. The band has also contributed new liner notes to the album.

There has also been speculation that the rare material added to the expanded version will be Joshua Tree demos, alternate versions and b-sides. The DVD is said to include the July 4th 1987 performance at the Paris Hippodrome as well as the documentary "Outside Its America." The reissue will be available November 20th courtesy of UMe.- More music news and features at Filter

Clay Aiken Goes Broadway
antiMusic reports: American Idol runner-up Clay Aiken has a new gig. And even bigger news for Claymates that have longed to see their musical deity in tights is that the new gig is on Broadway! Not any cheesy musical will do, Clive must not have been consulted because Clay actually landed a role with one of the few cool musicals- Monty Python's Spamalot. Here is the gushing press release:

Clay Aiken, who became a music superstar following his success on the American Idol television series, will join the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, Monty Python's SPAMALOT, making his Broadway debut in the role of Sir Robin, at the Shubert Theatre, New York, from January 18 to May 4, 2008.

Clay Aiken said "I really couldn't have asked for a more wonderful group of people to work with. Let's not lie, the chance to work with legendary creative minds like Mike Nichols and Eric Idle is, on its own, a reason to jump at this opportunity. But, that's not all. The producers and creative folks I have had the chance to meet and work with so far have been unbelievably welcoming and wonderful. They've really made me feel at home already, and I haven't even started yet!"- more on this story

Britney Booked For Hit n' Run
antiMusic reports: Remember a couple months ago when Britney took time out from robbing banks to play bumper cars with Mercedes-Benz in a parking lot? Ok, some nut came up with the bank robbery thing but she did do the bumper car bit. For those following the misadventures of Miss Spears you will be happy to know that she has now been booked for the bumper car incident, not the band robbery. Here is Contact music with the report:

Britney Spears has been booked for her hit-and-run parking lot accident in August (07), after turning herself in to Los Angeles police on Monday night (15Oct07). The singer was caught on camera scraping Kim Robard-Rifkin's vehicle with her Mercedes-Benz while attempting to park in Van Nuys, California on 6 August.

The troubled star, 25, was booked on two misdemeanour charges of hit and run causing property damage and driving without a valid licence. She was then fingerprinted and photographed before being released an hour later without bail. [But wait! Britney apparently played bumper cars with a photographer last Sat night. Read about that - here.]

New Thrash Super Group Featuring Bad Religion, Bleeding Through, The Distillers, No Use For A Name members
antiMusic reports: Now here is a supergroup for you! The basic 411 from their Myspace: Vocalist Brandan Schieppati (Bleeding Through), drummer Brooks Wackerman (Bad Religion, Tenacious D, ex-Suicidal Tendencies), guitar player Dave Nassie (No Use For A Name, ex-Infectious Grooves) and bass player Ryan Sinn (ex-The Distillers) have joined forces, united by their shared love of the power of heavy metal, under the banner of The Innocent and are preparing to lay waste to any preconceived notions about the unlikely combination of heroes from the divergent Ozzfest, Warped Tour and rock n' roll worlds.

As grinding death metal reemerges, thrash metal makes an exciting comeback and the trendy also-rans of the last few years deservedly fall out of favor, it's time for skillful fretwork, mature song-craft and breathtaking musicianship altogether to conquer to take its rightful place once again. It is time for The Innocent.

Boasting an arsenal of a handful of songs crafted together in the evening hours in Orange County when their other projects have allowed a break from touring or recording here and there, The Innocent is ready to show its collective face and make its presence known as a force unto itself beyond its collective members resumes.- Grab a listen here
