Bumblefoot Week: Day 3 "Redeye"
antiMusic reports: With a sound described as "The Sex Pistols meets Queen, with innovative guitar and a Zappa-esque twist" how could your interest not be sparked? We are talking about Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal who was thrust into the international spotlight a couple years ago when he joined Guns N' Roses and quickly won the fans over on their world tour. But that new gig hasn't changed Bubblefoot's DIY ethic as he continues to be a champion of the underground with his new self-released CD "Abnormal". That effort from the critically acclaimed rocker is available this week and we asked Bumblefoot to pick his favorite tracks from the album and tell us a bit about each one. He more than delivered! Here is Bumblefoot with today's song:

Redeye: So we're in this club in Tokyo, the band, crew, my wife, friends, having a great time. Only dim red lights in the club. This beautiful Japanese girl is all over us, couldn't understand a damn thing she was saying but spoke for hours. So there's me, my wife, this girl, we're just being silly, whatever, friends are laughing and taking pictures... get back to the hotel the next morning, go to bed, soon after I'm hearing this "voom voom voom" noise a half-second apart, I'm moving back and forth with it, thinking to myself "wow, the water's choppy." Then I realize I'm in a hotel, not on a boat. F**king earthquake. We get out of bed, the first thing I do is throw on a pair of pants - I WILL not die with my dick out, f**k that. We stand in the doorway of the bathroom, I hold my wife and tell her "this is gonna be a very long 30 seconds, just hang tight..." and we wait. The building didn't crumble, we went back to bed.

The next time I saw my friends, the photos they took came up - they said "what was up with that girl?" Did you see the pictures? They showed me the pictures, and the white light of the camera flash revealed that our exquisite lady friend from the night before had some kind of super outbreak of conjunctiva goin' on, I mean one of her eyes was so red it looked like a crime scene photo. The lights in the club were red, so it canceled out the redness of her eye, no one could tell...! And if we died in the earthquake, we never would have known. It makes ya wonder - when people die, what little bit of discovery do they miss out on, what would they have learned if they lived one more day? So deep... For me, it was that the little Japanese girl had a red eye. Great. - Check out the lyrics to this song and find out where you can get a preview of the CD!

Velvet Revolver Hot For Singer, Duff Doesn't Rule Out GNR Reunion
antiMusic reports: Today's Running Out of Patience Meter reading: it has been 5,335 days since the last new Guns N' Roses album was released. With that said, let's get to today's GNR related story, which also involves Velvet Revolver's new singer! Metro from 94 WYSP spoke with Duff on Tuesday and got the bonus of Dave from The Presidents Of The United States Of America being on the line as well. Here is a short recap of what they talked about.

During the interview Metro asked Duff about Matt Sorum's comments that a GNR reunion is inevitable. Duff said in part "there is no backroom talks, there never has been.. but anything can happen, you see all these bands getting back together. I guess hell froze over for the Eagles and they did it. But it's not something I count on, or even need in my life." He had more to say, you'll have to listen to the full interview for that.

Metro also asked about Matt's comments about the new Velvet Revolver singer: "Matt your drummer, this week, said that there is actually a guy who you are quote, massaging, and if you will sort of checking it out, feeling it out, letting him work with you." (laughs from Dave, "your massaging him and feeling him out"). Then Duff said, "I wouldn't use, probably the words Matt used, but there is a guy we feel is pretty close to what we are looking for. And he's a great guy, amazing singer..." (Dave: "He must be hot, if your messaging him").

Then Metro asked, "Hey, if I guess who it is, will you tell me?" and Duff responded, "Maybe." Find out who he guessed and Duff's response right - here with the full interview.

de la Rocha Returns: Rage Against Mars Volta Super Group Inks Deal
PR reports: Anti Records is pleased to announce the signing of One Day As A Lion, featuring Zack de la Rocha (Rage Against The Machine) and Jon Theodore (ex-The Mars Volta). An on-going creative collaboration between two like-conscioused individuals, One Day As A Lion will release their eponymous debut EP worldwide on July 22nd. The band writes:

"One Day As A Lion is both a warning delivered and a promise kept. "A defiant affirmation of the possibilities that exist in the space between kick and snare. It's a sonic reflection of the visceral tension between a picturesque fabricated cultural landscape, and the brutal socioeconomic realities it attempts to mask. One Day As A Lion is a recorded interaction between Zack de la Rocha and Jon Theodore from Los Angeles, California.

"The name taken from the infamous 1970 black and white, captured by legendary Chicano photographer George Rodriguez featuring a center framed tag on a white wall in an unspecified section of Boyle Heights. It reads: 'It's better to live one day as a lion, than a thousand years as a lamb.' This record is a stripped down attempt to realize this sentiment in sound." - more on this story

Crap Posing As Art, Lost Beatles Interview To Air, Rare Fugazi Unearthed, Live Nation Continues Quest Towards World Domination, Albert Hammond, Jr Leako and more
antiMusic reports: There's a delicate balance between the intertwining worlds of artistry, entertainment and humor, but for Atlanta's best dressed alternative rockers Family Force 5... We stopped reading the press release at this point and tossed it into the trash. If you have to use a band's fashion to try and sell them, than you might as well just drop them now and go out and hire a real A&R person.

The BBC will air a long lost Beatles interview featuring John Lennon and Paul McCartney talking about the day they met and their songwriting partnership. The precious film sat forgotten for 44 years in a garage in south London until film fan Richard Jeffs realized a piece of pop history was contained inside. more

MP3 blog Aquarium Drunkard has quite a find for Fugazi fans. The site has acquired four Fugazi tracks performed on John Peel's legendary Peel Sessions. The late renowned broadcaster Peel used to have bands record four pieces of music exclusively for his show at the BBC studios. more

The next time you want to know why you are being screwed when you over pay for a concert ticket, here is one big reason: Latin music pop star Shakira is in talks with concert promoter Live Nation for a contract that will include touring, merchandising and recording, according to people familiar with the talks. The Colombian-born songstress, whose 2006 hit "Hips Don't Lie" was No. 1 in the United States, is expected to complete a multimillion-dollar deal with Live Nation before the end of the year. more

Imogen Heap will make a brand new track available exclusively through iTunes on July 8th, 2008. The aptly-named track "Not Now But Soon" currently appears on the album "Heroes: Original Television Series Soundtrack", which is out now. The track will be made available through iTunes accompanied by a bonus 'making of the song' video. The press release called it new, even though it's out now on a soundtrack. So blame them for the misleading info.

Best of Culture Club CD: $6.25, Boy George U.S. Tour Tickets: Worthless
PR reports: Despite all attempts at an appeal, Boy George's US Visa has been denied and the singer's summer tour has been cancelled as a result. George was looking forward to his first North American tour as a solo artist in over a decade.

Dates were to have kicked off with an appearance on the Today Show and included a special concert for the New York Department of Sanitation workers and families at the organization's Family Day this August.

In a statement, George said: "I was really hoping that the issue would be resolved and that some kind soul at the US Visa Office would realize that if the police in the UK placed no restrictions on my movements, that should have been good enough for them. I am very sorry that I will not see all my American fans this year, but I wish them a happy and healthy Fourth of July. I include the Visa Office in those good wishes and realize they are doing a very difficult job and I just got unlucky."

Emo Pussies Miss The Point And The Bronx Don't Need No Stinking Label
antiMusic reports: The last time our cyber buddy Skwerl over at AntiQuiet gave us a heads up about something cool on his site we got a love letter a law firm. (He got a visit from the FBI). So when he dropped us a line today to let us know about a new two part interview he just posted with Bronx guitarist / songwriter Joby Ford, we knew we were in for another treat! Here are just a couple choice selections from those exchanges:

Joby Ford: I remember when f**kin' like when Sunny Day Real Estate and Jimmy Eat World first hit That's where emo started, for me. Those two records. But now it's really just doubled on itself and gone through such a regression. The sensitive, aggressive emotional music nowadays is f**kin hilarious man. Oh my god. To me, strapping on a guitar and rockin' the f**k out It's this thing, this feeling of empowerment. I can't imagine someone strapping on a guitar, and that's what comes out. You know what I'm saying? Like at what point in these kids lives did they say "Dude, that rocks so much. That's what I want to do." I mean, the first concert I ever went to was AC/DC, and I was like Wow, man, f**k yeah! It was exciting rock n' roll, and I just think to myself, like these kids go to these shows and they see some pussy crying over f**kin' spilled milk or something, and they're like "Yeah! I wanna do that!" It's like no, man. You're missing the point. read this full interview

Joby Ford: We're off Def Jam / Island, and we are going to put our albums out ourselves on White Drugs. There's no point in being on a record label anymore. Even if you are signed, is that label even gonna exist in five years? It's something that's very very hard to take seriously, because record labels have to make money. And so therefore as a band, you have to do stuff that's f**king ridiculous. You just can't take it seriously. It's like, I don't want to do signings, I don't want to have to do weird contests where you get a t-shirt and a soda and hang out with your f**kin I don't want to do that. I want to play music because I like it. That stuff is fine for different bands, but that stuff just doesn't interest me. I just want to be in a band, put out my music and play. - Read The Full Interview

Disney, Coldplay and Lil Wayne Outsell Motley
Sleazeroxx reports: Motley Crue's 'Saints of Los Angeles' will have a decent debut in the US later this week, but not enough to detrone Coldplay's 'Viva La Vida'. According to Hits Daily Double, the Crue album will debut at number 4 with sales of around 90,000.

Coldplay will do another 200,000+ in the US this week, bringing total sales in America to around 1 million.

'Saints of Los Angeles' doesn't have enough momentum to beat Disney's 'Camp Rock' soundtrack or Lil Wayne's 'Tha Carter III' but it is looking like equally the debut position of the last album from the original line-up, 'Generation Swine' from 1997. - more on this story

Jackass Acts Like A Jackass, Gets Sued
antiMusic reports: Who is a bigger jackass? Steve-O or anyone stupid enough to buy anything from a Paris Hilton clothing line? That's a hard call but Steve-O makes the following argument for his jackassness according to TMZ: A doorman hired to work at Kitson during Paris Hilton's clothing line launch says a bodyguard for Steve-O punched him in the face during a shoot for the wackadoodle's reality show.

In a lawsuit filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, Roland Cano says he was at his post at the front door of the trendy shop, when Steve-O and his 6'9", 375 lb. goon showed up with a crew filming the reality show "Dr. Steve-O." When Cano refused to let them in the event, he says Steve-O's bodyguard and former football player Reggie "Big Regg" Pace "without provocation, violently punched [Cano's] head repeatedly."

To add insult to injury, Steve-O allegedly bragged "I just had my dude rip that security guard's face ... it was awesome... [he made more stupid comments, - read them here]
