Opiate For the Masses Week: Day 2 "Black Book" |
Black Book- This song was written while I was on tour with Opiate and my little brother was on tour in Iraq. The intention was to speak for him and his isolation and what he was going through over there just by telling my own story of isolation and struggles over here.
Being on the road has had the highest highs and the lowest lows I've ever seen, where it's easy to become disassociated from reality when you're really in the thick of it. I realized in hindsight that the vocal melody is subliminally reminiscent of "Suicide Is Painless", better known as the M.A.S.H. theme song. Go figure.

Ozzy Osbourne TV Variety Show Coming |
No precise air date has been set. But a spokesman for the News Corp-owned broadcaster said on Monday the show, featuring musical performances and comedy sketches, is planned for sometime in the upcoming 2008-2009 season.
Fox alternative programming president, Mike Darnell, told Daily Variety he hopes to launch the series with a Christmas special. Envisioned as a throwback to variety classics hosted in the 1970s by Sonny and Cher and by Donny and Marie Osmond, the show will reunite Ozzy Osbourne and his wife, Sharon, with daughter Kelly, 23, and son Jack, 22, last seen together on the MTV reality show "The Osbournes."

Madonna Using Divorce Rumors To Sell Tickets? |
Well-placed sources tell us the Ritchies plan to officially split in November or December -- after the Mrs.' upcoming "Sticky and Sweet" world tour. Why? Big bucks. The concerts are expected to earn close to $300 mil worldwide, and they've decided to ear mark that to provide for their three children's future.
And it gets better ... There is a whole PR strategy that has been in place for some time. We're told the Material Girl will be "very visible" in the months leading up to the tour to "generate a lot of publicity." That's when "news" of the marriage's demise would slowly leak out, causing tongues to wag -- and Madonna to be on the cover of papers and mags around the world.

According to the New York Post, former Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler and Crazy Town singer Seth "Shifty" Binzer are among the "celebrities" who have been approached to participate in the proposed VH1 "Celebrity Rehab" spinoff called "Sober Living".
The show, which would be a cross between "Surreal Life" and "The Real World", would put a number of "Celebrity Rehab" alumni together in a luxurious Beverly Hills mansion for 30 days while they try to rebuild their careers without drugs and alcohol.
Like "Celebrity Rehab", the new show would prominently feature Dr. Drew Pinsky ("Loveline"), who oversees the celebs during their stints in televised rehab.
Lost Hendrix Album |
Stills recently found the recording among a stack of material he taped during the 1970s, and his Crosby, Stills And Nash bandmate Graham Nash is helping him prepare it for release.
Nash tells the Las Vegas Sun, "He has an enormous history of recording. In the '70s, he was a recording fool. He just found a bloody album he made with (Jimi) Hendrix.

Music Fest Crowds Like Apes That Haven't Eaten A Banana In A Week |
The Bat Out of Hell hit-maker once took to the stage of one U.K. festival with fellow American rockers Jefferson Starship, but he was left so unimpressed by the audience's behavior, he has refused to return ever since. And he insists performing at more historic venues - like the 17th century Castle Howard in York, north east England - is much more pleasurable.
He says, "We played with Jefferson (Starship) at one of those stupid English festivals, and I do call them stupid because people behave like apes who haven't eaten a banana in a week.
