Sevendust Week: Day 1 "The Past" and "Scapegoat"
antiMusic reports: We're gonna kick things up a notch this week with metal heavyweights Sevendust! The band's new album, "Chapter VII: Hope & Sorrow," comes out this week and we caught up with Morgan Rose to discuss his favorite tracks from the effort. Here is Morgan with today's songs:

The Past: I wanted something dynamically mellow but heavy lyrically. The song is basically about the roller coaster that is life and how close I came to self destructing, but found a way out of the funk. it's actually an uplifting song. a rare one for us

Scapegoat: A song warning someone not to follow in your footsteps. showing them that people will always look to put the blame on someone else if that someone is an easy target.

We'll be back with more song stories from Morgan on Wednesday but for now check out some songs from the CD, learn more about it and the band and grab tour dates - right here!

AC/DC Farewell Tour?
antiMusic reports: Are the Thunder From Down Under ready to pull the plug on their legendary career with a final album and tour? That's the rumor according to a Metal Underground report. The rumor was sparked when the host of "Friday Night Rocks" radio show on New York's Q104.3 FM said on Friday night that word has it that Australian hard rock legends AC/DC will embark on a "farewell" tour later in the year once the recording sessions for their new album have been completed.

More from the Metal Underground report: AC/DC bassist Cliff Williams told Spinner.com last month that AC/DC would enter the studio March 1 to begin recording its first new album in eight years. The web site caught up with Williams at the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp in Los Angeles, where he said, "God I'm ready."

As for touring, however, Williams was less sure about the group's intentions. He explained, "If we go out again or when we go out again, you just never know. We've been around a long time, so we're going to get together and get in the studio and I fully expect we will (tour). I don't mean to be so negative about that." - more on this story

Poison Rapist?
TMZ reports: TMZ has learned that the arrest warrant issued for Poison drummer Rikki Rockett stems from an incident that occurred on September 23, 2007 at a casino in Mississippi. According to cops Rockett was staying -- not playing, music that is -- at the Silver Star Hotel & Casino when he allegedly raped another female guest in his hotel room.

We're told the woman did not report the alleged assault until several days later, when she came in to the Neshoba County Sheriffs department and filed a report. After determining there was probable cause for Rockett, real name Richard Ream, to be arrested, a warrant was issued. That warrant, we're told, is still active and he's a wanted man. Police will not give out any additional details about the alleged sexual assault.

LAPD busted the rocker at LAX on Monday night on the warrant, but let him go after Mississippi law enforcement decided not to extradite him, pending official charges from the Neshoba County D.A - more on this story

Sambora's DUI Called Into Question
TMZ reports: Richie Sambora may dodge a bullet in his DUI bust earlier this week, and not because of legal footwork -- because he may not have been DUI.

Sambora volunteered to submit to a blood alcohol test after he was popped in Laguna Beach. It may take a week before we know the results. But several sources -- who know what the alleged drunk drank -- tell TMZ Richie simply didn't drink much at all before the cops stopped him, and the blood test may register below the .08 legal limit in Calif.

True enough, if he was driving erratically and had any alcohol in him, he could still theoretically be charged with DUI. But that may not be in the cards either. - more on this story

Allman Brothers Band Nix Tour
antiMusic reports: Allman Brothers Band were forced to cancel a string of dates while Gregg Allman undergoes treatment for Hepatitis. Here are the details from allmanbrothersband.com: The Allman Brothers Band announced March 27 that they are postponing their annual run of 15 shows at New York City's Beacon Theatre set for May 5-24, with rescheduled dates TBA. In addition, they have also cancelled their upcoming performances at the Wanee Festival that they host every year in Florida (set for April 11-12, Wanee will continue as planned despite the fact that the Allman Brothers Band will not be appearing).

For the past six months, founding member Gregg Allman has been receiving scheduled treatments for Hepatitis C, a virus that, with these treatments, has become curable in recent years. The treatments so far have been successful and the virus has been eradicated from his system.

However, the recovery time from the side effects of the treatment are taking longer than originally projected. Since the Allman Brothers Band are known for exhilarating and exhausting concert performances they don't want to give fans anything less than they have come to expect; so the band members made a group decision to delay the first round of dates. "I'm getting better but I'm still tired," says Gregg. "I need to be at 110% to do the shows the way we do them. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the support and understanding my Brothers and our fans have given me." - more on this story

Hawthorne Heights Regret Lawsuit
antiMusic reports: Hawthorne Heights now have a different perspective on their famous lawsuit against Victory Records. Rolling Stone caught up with the band and with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, they now express some regret about filing the suit (despite having a court victory). They also discuss their late guitarist and a new tribute song they have written for him.

"We want to be able to release a record however we want," drummer Eron Bucciarelli told Rolling Stone. "We had sort of been misguided a little bit at the beginning of that whole process. I think if we knew then what we know now, we may not have even filed a lawsuit to begin with. Our legal system is set up for justice, but that doesn't really matter in terms of the record industry because artists' careers are so short, you can't just be tangled up in lawsuit for two or three years. It's impractical. We could go into the studio next week if we're able to and make this new record."

The interview took place on the eve of the band's first show since the death of guitarist Casey Calvert last November. "There is one song that we're playing especially for Casey. It's a new song," Bucciarelli said. "Once we're out there, we'll announce it and let people know what it is. It's going to be on our next album, but the song is still a work in progress and we're changing it day by day." - Read more from the interview and the band's plans for the next album

Halford Discusses Priest, Heaven and Hell, and Motorhead Tour
antiMusic reports: A couple weeks ago we heard about a "colossal" announcement coming next month from a 80s glam band that was being humorously hyped as one of the biggest announcements of the year. Then a rumor surfaced that the "big" announcement had to do with a tour featuring said glam band and other bands they share management with. All hell broke lose when that news was met with a collective "so what?". But a few days later Blabbermouth broke a story about a truly colossal metal tour. The rumored line up included Judas Priest, Heaven and Hell (Dio era Black Sabbath) and Motorhead. The Classic Metal Show spoke with Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford about a variety of topics, but the big news is when he more or less confirmed the rumored metal mega tour.

When asked about the rumor, Halford said: "I can only tell you that suddenly I got a flood of e-mails, 'Have you checked Blabbermouth?' I'm like, 'No.' 'Go into Blabbermouth right now.' And I did. Blabbermouth is the TMZ of [heavy metal]. And I saw it. Live Nation are promoting the tour, and I guess the professional way of dealing with this is to say that Live Nation will be making an official announcement probably a few days from now. But it's difficult to keep that kind of thing quiet 'cause If it does happen, and it's looking very real, it's gonna be one of the biggest metal shows in the States this year." The Classic Metal Show responded, "This year? How about ever, Rob? Jeez You guys and BLACK SABBATH? Wow!" and Halford shot back, "Well, I see what you're saying. It's HEAVEN AND HELL, but I know what you're saying. Yeah, it is reminiscent of that Ozzfest when you had PRIEST and SABBATH and SLAYER all on the same bill. Yeah, if it happens, it's gonna be great MOTRHEAD, PRIEST, HEAVEN AND HELL That's a killer metal show."

The Classic Metal Show then added, "I think TESTAMENT are supposed to be on that bill too." Rob responded, "Yeah, that's what I'm hearing as well. There's tons of e-mails flying back and forth and you just have to You have to wait for the official announcement because it has to be sanctioned by management and the lawyers in the suits and that other rubbish. But if we get what we are hoping to get, I think it's gonna be an absolutely sensational, killer American tour 'cause it won't happen anywhere else in the world, this lineup. It'll just be for the States." - Blabbermouth has more from the interview including video.

Meshuggah Explain Tour Problems
antiMusic reports: Meshuggah have run into a few problems so far on the Ministry CU LaTour, and the band took to their website to explain to disappointed fans just what happened. Here is what they had to say: Ahhh, not so awesome beginning of the CU LaTour! We just wanna say were sorry for you guys who came out to the Calgary show especially!

The routing/distances for this tour was insane for the first couple shows and us being stuck at the U.S/Canada border for a few hours meant we didn't make it in time for the Calgary show!

For the first Vancouver show at the Croatian culture center - same thing! Too far a drive to actually make it in time, so everything was way delayed which in turn meant that we had to cut the set real short! 3 songs!! Hows that for a Meshuggah set!!? Kinda embarrasing, but things were out of our hands!! We were there in time but the semi with all the stage gear was very late and with a 11 p.m curfew - more on this story

Forget Myspace, Try FiddySpace!
antiMusic reports: Looks like Fiddy is taking on Myspace with his very own social networking site. Reuters has the report: On Thisis50.com, fans can create profiles and friend lists just like on MySpace, but 50 Cent has direct access to the site's users and their e-mail addresses.

More and more acts, from Kylie Minogue to Ludacris to the Pussycat Dolls, are launching their own social networks, which are becoming a sort of next-generation version of artist Web sites.

The social networking component gives fans a reason to hang out on a site and visit more often than they would a standard Web site. [We haven't seen anyone raise privacy concerns yet. What happens if a star's career tanks and they decide to make some cash by selling the email addresses? We're not saying that's going to happen but what if? Now go ready more about FiddySpace with the rest of the - Reuters report.]

Beanie Sigel Back in Prison After Pissing Off Probation Debt
TMZ reports: So you think you got troubles? Rapper Beanie Sigel has just been thrown in the pokey -- again.

Sigel was sentenced to three months in prison for giving his probation officers a fake a urine sample. Oh yeah, he had also tested positive five times this month for Xanax and Percocet.

Sigel, who, thank God, changed his name from Dwight Grant (that's sooo white collar), was in the middle of serving a six-month term in a halfway house for violating a prior supervised release - more on this story

Warner Music Pushing for Net Tax
punknews.org reports: According to a report from the Conde Nast Portfolio, Warner is putting significant effort into pushing for a mandatory Internet tax to receive unlimited access to any recorded music. The company has hired Jim Griffin to spearhead the effort.

Griffin commented: "Today, it has become purely voluntary to pay for music. If I tell you to go listen to this band, you could pay, or you might not. It's pretty much up to you. So the music business has become a big tip jar. But we're swinging toward the vine of music as a service. We need to get ready to let go and grab the next vine, which is a pool of money and a fair way to split it up, rather than controlling the quantity and destiny of sound recordings."

Warner's plan would have consumers pay an additional feemaybe $5 a monthbundled into their monthly internet-access bill. Griffin says those fees could create a pool as large as $20 billion annually to pay artists and copyright holders. - Critics point out that the entire notion is incorrect
