Emmanuel Jal Week: Day 1 "Forced to Sin"
antiMusic reports: This week we have a Day in Rock first as a hip-hop artist gets the spotlight. But Emmanuel Jal is no normal hip-hopper, as you'll soon discover when he tells us the stories behind the songs of his new album "Warchild". Forget the banal bitches, bling and got mine raps you may have come to expect from commercial rap, Emmanuel uses his music to touch upon on real subjects from his incredible journey in life from being a child solider in Africa to the recording studio. His raps were far too real for most record companies, next week we'll find out what they were afraid of when "Warchild" hits stores. But this week will give us a preview of what we can expect from the album. We'll now turn it over to him for today's song:

Forced to Sin: This song talks about my best friend Lual who out of hunger and desperation, I was tempted to eat when he died by my side. It's about me leaving home when I was seven, a year later I became a soldier so I thought I'd testify about the point in my life where I felt I was forced to sin to make a living. I wanted it to help and inspire people and put across the point that you should be thankful for whatever you have. This song inspires me most when things are difficult and I start to become unfocused, it reminds me where I came from.

As you can see this isn't your everyday hip-hop. Even if you don't like rap you can agree that he has something far more important to say than his contemporaries. You can learn more about Emmanuel's incredible story, preview some tracks from Warchild, find out where to see him live and more at his - Myspace page.

Fly Like An Eagle To New York Contest
antiMusic reports: Aside from some popstars engaging in their usual stupidity, it was a bit of a slow weekend for rock news. So we figured we kick things off with an exciting opportunity to hop on a big ol' Jet Airliner to check out a rock legend in concert in New York.

Here are details: In celebration of the DVD set release of Steve Miller Band Live From Chicago, we are giving away a trip for two to the New York area to attend a Steve Miller Band show. Includes airfare for two, 2 night hotel stay, and VIP seating to the show.

The DVD hits stores May 27th and the U.S. Tour kicks off on May 24th in West Palm Beach, Fl. But for your chance to see them live in New York, enter to win - here where you can also grab the tour dates plus a preview of the DVD.

Avril Silenced
antiMusic reports: This is the rare case where we have to give Avril Lavigne some credit. Most poptarts would resort to lip-synching if they came down with an illness that a couple of Advil couldn't cure. Not Avril, she's pulled the plug on a series of shows because she lost her voice.

Avril took to her blog to explain that she has acute laryngitis and still has no voice after straining her vocals last week. She had already axed two shows because of the illness, one in San Diego and one in Phoenix. Avril was also forced to cancel appearances on Jay Leno and an appearance with Ryan Seacrest. She had hoped to return to the stage Saturday night in Anaheim, but during soundcheck her voice told her it had other ideas on the matter.

As a result, Avril has cancelled six more dates on her current U.S. tour, four in California and two in Washington. No word at press time if these stops would be rescheduled but they did say that refunds would be available "at point of purchase on Monday." - what she, like, had to say

NIN Support Acts Nailed Down, Big Announcement Expected
antiMusic reports: No one goes to a Nine Inch Nails concert to see the support act (unless the lead singer happens to named Maynard), but just in case you need that little extra push over the cliff to convince you to head and out and see Trent and boys on their summer tour of North America, they have announced the laundry list of bands that will joining them on the outing.

Crystal Castles will kick off the tour and play through Aug 2nd. NIN will make a quick detour and play Lollapalooza, but then will be joined by Deerhunter from Aug 5th - 13th, A Place To Bury Strangers join-up on the 15th for a four date run.

Does It Offend You, Yeah? will play from Aug 22 - 29th. Then on Sep 2nd Deerhunter will jump back on the tour and ride it out until the end, which right now looks like it will end with a newly announced date at The Forum in Inglewood, CA on September 6th.

We're also supposed to be on the look out for a very special announcement from the band on Monday (May 5th). We'll let you know what it is as soon we know. - For now here are the latest dates

Miley's Pornographic Concert Attire?
antiMusic reports: We don't know what to make of this Hecklerspray report, aside from being amused. Seems that Miley has reportedly continued her decline down risque' avenue with her latest public appearance with her choice of "revealing" clothing. Here is the report: Miley Cyrus rocked the stage last night at the Disney Channel Games Concert, sporting another piece of pornographic attire.

As she thanked fans for their support, singing some old hits and some new, she strutted about the stage in skin-tight, virginal-white jeans and top to match, which left very little to the imagination.

The outfit made a clear definition of the shape of her breasts and bottom. One source who attended the gig told hecklerspray: It was disgusting. I was standing there, wanting to have an innocent boogie to some of the finest pop-music this millennium has had to offer when, all of a sudden, 15-year-old Miley appears, looking beautiful and slightly sexually arousing, and now I feel like a paedophile. This has got to stop. This would never have happened if Al-Qaeda were in control; either get the girl a hijab and let me boogie in unaroused peace, or burn her. - Maybe God can turn Miley's downfall around?

R. Kelly Had Three Way With Teen?
antiMusic reports: Apparently R.Kelly not only likes em' young, he likes em' in quantity. TMZ has the story: The platinum pisser may be the one getting screwed this time.

A woman is set to testify at R. Kelly's upcoming child pornography trial, revealing that she had a threesome with Kelly and the allegedly underage girl shown in the infamous video.

Sources tell the Chicago Sun-Times that the new witness will not only testify that she was underage when she had the threesome with Kelly -- but that the other girl involved is the exact same person who is now identified as the alleged victim. - more on this story

Metallica To Preview CD Online
antiMusic reports: Remember back a week or so ago when Lars gave an interview and said he has finally seen the light about the web? He really meant it and the fans will benefit from it. Blabbermouth has the story: Metallica's recently announced web site, MissionMetallica.com, where the band says it will offer fans a chance to "experience the [group's] new album before it's done," is scheduled to go "live" on May 12.

As previously reported, Metallicadrummer Lars Ulrich told RollingStone.com that the band intends to explore "everything" in terms of selling its music once its current recording contract expires. But although the group's upcoming ninth studio album is its last with Warner Bros. Music, Ulrich said they would be hesitant to follow in the footsteps of U2 and MADONNA and sign a comprehensive "360 deal" with Live Nation.

Ulrich explained, "We've never sold ourselves that way. No disrespect. We want to be as free a player as possible. We've been observing Radiohead and Trent Reznor and in 27 years or however long it takes for the next record, we'll be looking forward to everything in terms of possibilities with the Internet." - more on this story

Sebastian Bach reveals in a new interview that he has an unexpected songwriting partner. Has Bach gone hardcore? Here is the Q&A" And although "Angel Down" is less than a year old, have you worked on any new songs or demos?

Bach: Yes, I'm actually working right now, I have four songs, that I am writing lyrics to, that I am collaborating with, with Jamey Jasta from HATEBREED. They are one of my favourite new metal bands, they write incredible metal anthems, and I'm working with Jamey, which is very exciting for me. - Read more

Courtney Love Is One Sick Woman
antiMusic reports: We had to post this one about Courtney Love because the of the video that goes along with it. Here is the TMZ report followed by the video link: Frances Bean's mom, decked out in a giant doily, checked in to Cedars Sinai at around 3:00 AM Friday morning after allegedly complaining about throat and chest pains.

Love's rep confirms she was diagnosed with strep throat and then sent on her way. We're told the 90s rocker stopped by a gas station on the way home to pick up a pack of smokes and some toilet literature.

Moments after being released from Cedars-Sinai hospital after spending "90 hours in bed" and "throwing up," Courtney Love was a rambling mess at an L.A. gas station, where she made a brave decision to give up the full flavors for a little while. - Watch the video, it's a new Courtney classic

Lohan Pissed At Drunk Ad
Hecklerspray reports: Lindsay Lohan is angry because an image of her drunken, villainous face has been used in an effort to teach America that 'not all alcohol users are as irresponsible as people like Lindsay Lohan' in a full page advert in USA Today on Friday.

The ad was part of a campaign against legislation for convicted drunk-drivers to have ignition interlocks installed (a device that measures a driver's blood alcohol level before their vehicle can start) and was funded by the American Beverage Institute, a trade group that supports the interests of the alcohol industry.

Why is the alcohol industry having a go at Lindsay Lohan? Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. What's next; the American Cake Institute denouncing Rosie O'Donnell? - Madness.
