Emmanuel Jal Week: Day 5 "Skirt Too Short" and more.
antiMusic reports: This week we have a Day in Rock first as a hip-hop artist gets the spotlight. But Emmanuel Jal is no normal hip-hopper, as you'll soon discover when he tells us the stories behind the songs of his new album "Warchild". Emmanuel uses his music to touch upon on real subjects from his incredible journey in life from being a child soldier in Africa to the recording studio. "Warchild" hits stores next week, but this week will give us a preview of what we can expect from the album. We conclude today with another first. Emmanuel is going to tells us about the rest of the songs on the CD!

[While this album deals with heavy topics, we picked this less serious song to spotlight today.] Skirt too Short: This song was inspired by MySpace. There was a girl who contacted me on MySpace, and she started sending me provocative messages, and asking me to take her out. Practically promising herself to me. I couldn't believe it. How could someone I had never met, be acting this way? I got into a conversation with my cousin Ayak, and Roachie about girls who are seen to be easy, and how they wear skimpy clothes to get attention. Of course I believe this not to be a good way to get attention, so the lyrics speak for themselves. - read the rest of the song stories!

FBI Probe Scorpions For Child Porn
antiMusic reports: These are strange times we live in. Apparently the FBI has nothing better to do than investigate 32 year-old album covers for child porn claims. Maybe they should be out tracking down real child pornographers?

Blabbermouth has the story: Chelsea Schilling of WorldNetDaily reports that the FBI is now reviewing a Wikipedia photo of a nude adolescent that could violate federal child-pornography laws.

The image in question, titled "Virgin Killer" from RCA's 1976 SCORPIONS rock album, depicts a naked pre-pubescent girl (appearing about 10 years of age) in a provocative pose. Her chest is completely exposed and a small crack is placed over her vagina.

The album's cover was banned in the United States due to its extremely controversial nature and was later replaced with a photo of the band. - more on this story

Phishy Reunion
AP reports: Though the Jammy Awards were able to bring together the members of Phish for the first time since they broke up four years ago, the reunion may not have been everything Phish-heads had hoped for.

While all members of the beloved jam-band appeared and two of them grooved onstage (Trey Anastasio and Page McConnell) they didn't perform together Wednesday night.

And as they accepted their lifetime achievement award, there was no hint of another reunion, dashing rumbling hopes that Phish might become the latest act to get back together for a blockbuster tour. - more on this story

New Gay Idol Scandal With Pedo Twist
TMZ reports: A guy who once tried to get onto "American Idol" by comparing himself to Clay Aiken just got nabbed for sending sex laced text messages to a 12-year-old boy and propositioning a ten-year-old while volunteering at a Brooklyn elementary school.

Colin Leahy, who's 23 and auditioned on season three of "AI," was arrested by Brooklyn cops yesterday and charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance, the DA tells TMZ.

Leahy never made it to Hollywood, and he had compared himself to Clayken because they had both been camp counselors -- oops. Simon Cowell called his tryout "as bad as it can possibly get." - Well, maybe not quite. view the video

Open Letter To Metallica
antiMusic reports: You have to imagine that it's fun to be Dave Grohl. He wakes up in the morning and he can flip a coin to decide which music project to work on, or he might even fire up his computer and decide, "today I'm going to write an open letter to Metallica!". That's just what he did. The letter will amuse some fans, anger others and confuse a lot more. We won't read into what he had to say and let you decide the message he was trying to convey with the following:

Dear Metallica, Hey, it's Dave! Remember me? Yeah, I'm the guy that's been listening to your band faithfully since 1983. I bought your first album 'Kill 'Em All' from a mailorder catalogue called Under The Rainbow, I think. Actually I can't remember. It was 1983 for Christsakes! But that album changed my life and I've been listening to your albums ever since (even 'St Anger'!).

I can't wait to hear the new sh*t, and no matter what you guys do I'll always be first one at the shop waiting to hear it. I'm sure you'll come out and blow everybody's f**kin' minds, because you're f**kin' METALLICA!

Good luck. And don't release it until it's kick-ass.

Yours, Dave Grohl.

P.S. Are you finished recording the drums yet? - are you amused, angered or confused? post your comments
