John Mayall Reissues
Kayos reports: Eagle Rock Entertainment will re-release two of British blues superstar John Mayall's vintage live albums on June 3.

The Masters is a two-disc set, originally released in 1999, culled from a British show 30 years earlier, that also features music from the original film soundtrack of The Turning Point, a "rockumentary" on Mayall which chronicles his adventurous decision to go acousticwithout drums!shortly after guitarist Mick Taylor left the band to go join The Rolling Stones. Complete with interviews of Eric Clapton and others, The Masters is an eclectic look back at a band in transition, and the genius who inexorably moves more towards a pure blues sound even after attaining rock star status.

Live At The Marquee, also originally released in 1999, is from a 1969 performance in London. This single disc is filled with the kind of long legendary jams that gave that era its musical personality.

Time Bomb For The Masses
PR reports: Opiate For The Masses have posted the new track "21st Century Time Bomb" on their MySpace page. This powerful, anthemic call to arms is the lead-off track on the group's much anticipated new album, Manifesto, which is set for a July 8th release.

Upon speaking about the song's origin, Ron Underwood (vocals) states: "21st Century Time Bomb was one of the first songs that Jim and I worked on for Manifesto. The title is actually a direct quote from a Metal Edge article- they called Opiate 'A 21st Century Time Bomb' in a review. So we took that and ran with it; used it as a template for the song itself.

The music had to be mechanical and militant, but brash like a guillotine- the soundtrack of a revolutionary uprising. The lyrics had to be the voice of the underdog lit to pop in the face of oppression. Who can't relate to that? Also to stay on course with the theme, we recorded the song at 120 beats per minute so that the back beat synchronizes with the second hand of a clock (for the time bomb effect) and it happens to be a good, fast marching tempo. I think it's the perfect opener for our new album Manifesto." - Myspace page

Sophism
PR reports: On August 5, 2008, STM Records' flagship artist, ism, will be releasing their new album titled Urgency. Urgency, ism's sophomore album on STM Records, poses unflinching questions about the human condition in songs equally as bold in construction. Smart, melodic and hypnotic, the 12 tracks produced by Joe Blaney (The Clash, Tom Waits, Prince) on Urgency builds on the solid foundation of 2006's critically acclaimed Monkey Underneath.

Andre Mistier, lead singer and songwriter for the New York-based quartet is joined by Mike Higgins on drums, fret master Gerard Toriello on lead guitar, and effects wizard Leigh Battle on bass. Behind the scenes, legendary A&R guru Michael Caplan served as patriarch of the project, assembling an impressive production team that shaped the final recording. Not only was Joe Blaney brought to the table, but the album was mixed by Mark Needham (the Killers, Hot Fuss), mastered by Vlado Meller at Universal Mastering Studios and a guest appearance by legendary Bernie Worrell, playing organ, clavinet and synthesizer on several tracks.

The first single for the album is "Sacred Cows" and its add/impact date for radio is June 10, 2008. The album is being distributed nationwide by RED Distribution. - Myspace page

Pride Tiger Tour
PR reports: Vancouver rockers Pride Tiger, who were recently nominated for a Juno Award for Rock Album Of The Year for their Caroline Records debut The Lucky Ones, will go south of the border for seven more dates in the U.S.

Pride Tiger was formed by three former members of the highly respected, still-going-strong metal act 3 Inches of Blood and one member of hardcore band S.T.R.E.E.T.S. Going for an authentic sound in the Thin Lizzy-vein, the result was The Lucky Ones which was called "The best album of the year" by Sleazegrinder.

Produced, engineered and mixed by Matt Hyde (Slayer, Monster Magnet, Fu Manchu) the record modernizes the glorious 70's rock style resulting in 13 songs that are powerful, sweaty, hooky, suitably head-banging and one big party. No need to dress up or wash your hair. - more on this story
