Idol Picketed
Reuters reports: A year after the Writers Guild of America ended a major strike, members of the WGA West had picket signs out in Los Angeles. Their target? The biggest show on television: Fox's "American Idol."

By 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, at least 150 red-shirted guild members were marching and chanting in front of CBS Television's offices on Beverly Boulevard to protest working conditions in the reality and game-show sectors.

Carrying signs reading, "'Idol' gives back ... but not to its workers" and chanting, "Simon, Simon, you can't hide, we can see your greedy side!" the writers and their supporters were trying to pressure FremantleMedia North America, "Idol's" producer, to provide its writers and other workers with standard industry health care and pension benefits. [They actually pay people to write that crap? Are they writing Paula's idle brained lines?] - more on this story

OK Go Previewing New CD On The Road This Spring
PR reports: OK Go will preview songs from its upcoming album on a bi-coastal headlining tour launching March 6th in Philadelphia, with Irish indie band Oppenheimer and Longwave opening the East Coast dates, IO Echo and Jaguar Love opening the West Coast dates.

OK Go has spent the winter holed up in an upstate New York barn-turned-studio with producer Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, MGMT, Sleater-Kinney), handcrafting what they describe as the "danciest, most anthemic, most heartbroken, and most honest songs" of their career. The band is chronicling the process with an offbeat series of videos at http://www.okgo.net.

The upcoming album, due out late summer on Capitol Records, follows up 2005's hit-filled Oh No, which rocketed the band to international fame with major shows on five continents and a series of low-budget homemade videos including "A Million Ways" and "Here It Goes Again" ("the treadmill video") that have been viewed hundreds of millions of times and set all sorts of records.

Hendrix Liquor Victory
PR reports: Seattle-based Experience Hendrix, L.L.C. and Authentic Hendrix, LLC, owners of Jimi Hendrix music, trademarks and licensing rights, won a key legal victory in the trademark infringement case against Craig Dieffenbach and Electric Hendrix Spirits, LLC.

Experience Hendrix and Authentic Hendrix filed a lawsuit in 2007 charging that Dieffenbach and his companies had infringed on Jimi Hendrix trademarks in an unauthorized, tasteless promotion of "Hendrix Electric" brand of vodka. United States District Court Judge Zilly today entered a $3,200,000 judgment against Dieffenbach and his companies for their unlawful conduct.

The Court also permanently enjoined Mr. Dieffenbach and his companies from commercially using any Jimi Hendrix products and directed that all their distributors and licensees immediately pull the vodka and other infringing products from the market and cease all related advertising.

Testament Live Album
PR reports: Before Wacken, there was Dynamo. For 20 years, the Dynamo Open Air Festival -- originally held in 1986 to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Dynamo rock club in Eindhoven, Holland -- was one of metal's most important annual events, peaking in 1995 when 118,000 fans packed the grounds of an abandoned Dutch military airport to see four dozen acts play on three different stages over three June days.

In 1987, though, Dynamo was still in its infancy. For that matter, so was the performer who would leave the biggest mark on the event that year -- Bay Area thrashers Testament. After their debut album, "The Legacy," made instant waves worldwide, the group was invited to make their European debut at the second Dynamo festival. After a "warm-up" show at the 300-capacity Dynamo club the night before, Testament took the stage on a rainy June 8 and floored the 14,000 fans in attendance with an aggressive, fiery 45-minute set that showcased much of the material on "The Legacy." Five songs from their performance were captured on the EP "Live at Eindhoven," which was issued as a cassette and a 12" LP. However, the band's full set was never released officially -- until now.

Prosthetic Records is proud to announce the April 14 release of "Live at Eindhoven '87," which for the first time brings you Testament's complete 1987 Dynamo performance. A metal history lesson of the highest order, "Live at Eindhoven '87" sees the group's original lineup -- vocalist Chuck Billy, guitarists Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson, bassist Greg Christian, and drummer Louie Clemente -- at their absolute hungriest.

Singer Robin McAuley joined Survivor in 2006. Guitarist/founding member Frankie Sullivan knew he was the perfect person to front the band. Well, the short answer, he was available, we gave him the songs of a set list we would perform, he came to the Windy City and blew our socks off! Robin is a pure pleasure to work with and he's such a great person. With Robin, what you see is what you get. And boy do you get it!"
