Marilyn Manson Wants Credit For Murders
Rock Radio reports: Marilyn Manson says that if he's going to blamed when kids go wild in school shooting sprees, he'd like to see some reward for it.

The shock-rocker has been discussing the aftermath of events in May when 15-year-old Justin Doucet of Louisiana, USA, ordered a teacher to say "Hail Marilyn Manson" at gunpoint, and began shooting when she refused. He missed, but went to a toilet where he shot himself in the head, finally dying some days later.

Now Manson, real name Brian Warner, tells Spin Magazine: "On the new record I say, 'F*ck the TV and the radio - I'm gonna take credit for the death toll'. It's all I get blamed for. So if I'm going to get blamed for it, I want credit for it.

Happy Mondays and the Psychedelic Furs Team Up For Tour
exclaim.ca reports: One-time Factory Records miscreants Happy Mondays are joining reformed '80s greats the Psychedelic Furs for a joint road trip across North America.

As far as any new records go, the Mondays were supposedly following up on 2007's "comeback album," Uncle Dysfunktional and, as previously reported, were to release it early this year. However, as of yet, there is still no sign of any new full-length from Shaun Ryder and his recovering gang of drug fiends.

For the Furs, lead singer Richard Butler previously hinted at a new album from the band "in the not so distant future," according to Wikipedia, but again, so far nothing.

Jim James from My Morning Jacket to Release EP of George Harrison Covers
Girlie reports: A few days after George Harrison passed away in 2001, Yim Yames (Jim James from My Morning Jacket) was moved to record this six-song EP of Harrison covers, paying tribute to a man that he never met, but with whom he felt a special connection. The tracks have a serene quality that mourn the loss of a legendary spirit while celebrating his enduring influence. [Since their publicist didn't bother to include in the body of the press release, The EP is being released on August 4th]

On the EP, Yames performs beautiful renditions of four cuts from Harrison's classic album All Things Pass as well as two of the Beatles tunes that he penned. These six tracks have a raw, minimalist feel featuring little more than Yames's vocals and acoustic guitar. With all the space, the room in which the tracks were recorded truly serves as another instrument in the mix, creating an ethereal aura for a backdrop.

From his warm, multi-layered vocals on opening track "Long Long Long" to his near-whisper at the end of album closer "All Things Must Pass," Yames sings in a fittingly intimate manner. In the album's liner notes, he refers to Harrison as "a prime example of the healing power of music." These words apply just as much to this EP. As the final chords on Tribute To ring out, one can't help but feel a deep, satisfying sense of catharsis. - more on this story

Dickheads In A Van On Tour
Earache reports: The UK's foremost hardcore bruisers, Your Demise have lived through some truly intense road encounters. These encounters have toughened up the members of the young St. Albans band and have given their modern brand of hardcore an extra edge that's allowed them to rise to prominence in the UK. No encounter, however, has toughened them up as much as the events surrounding the band's 24 hour stay in a Belgian solitary confinement cell. YOUR DEMISE guitarist, Stuart Paice explains the circumstances regarding that fateful event:

"Where do I start haha! 7 ' Dickheads' in a van on tour in Europe! Thats a good start. Looking back i think that tour was destined for it to happen,.We were out of control. At the peak of our destruction you could say, we were setting fireworks off out the van on the motorway, and as they ran out we made a stop to a shop in France somewhere. We purchased 3 really ---- BB guns that would not even go through the air let alone flesh, about 1000 firecrackers and loads of ammo. Finally we began our journey toward Germany.

Midway through the journey, the firecrackers were being set off in the van and everyone was shooting Oz (guitarist, Daniel Osbourne, who was driving, i might add). The next thing we know is that a Belgian Police car is telling us to pull over. The full extent of the event hit us when at that point when we got out the van. There was 4 police cars, 2 meat wagons full of feds, 2 police Helicopters. We all just looked at each other and that was it. They lead us to the police station, for which they closed the motorway off for us to pass through. We got to the police station, they searched us and locked us up. 24 hours in solitary confinement later, we are set free ha ha. We then thought it was all over, but a year later we each get a court summons saying we had to attend a hearing. We were being charged with 3 counts of Threatening Behavior, the transportation of Illegal Firearms and something else. So we get a Brit ish speaking Belgian Lawyer, costing us 5 grand, we go to court, and get acquitted on all charges. Big waste of time. Looking back that is MENTAL!" - more on this story

Singled Out: Merykid
antiMusic reports: Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Nick Mery the mastermind behind Merykid tells us about "Bad Things" from his brand new album "The Boy and the Bird," which hits stores next week. We now turn it over to Nick for the story:

One day I was perusing through eBay for some unique instruments, and I stumbled upon this really old Casiotone synthesizer. I did some research, placed a bid on it, and over the next few days actually became quite invested in the idea of owning this thing, due to its staggering rarity.

Well, as most people have experienced, I was outbid by about sixty cents in the last two minutes. Defeatedly, I told myself it wasn't meant to be.

A few weeks later, I was rummaging through one of San Antonio's used instrument shops, when lo and behold, I found the exact same keyboard, for the exact same price, sitting on a pile in the back. Whether it was the same machine, or I had stumbled into some strange twilight zone-esque vortex, I bought the Casiotone, and wrote "Bad Things" that same day.

When recording it, I had only envisioned the song being an introduction to the rest of the album, no longer than a minute. However, once Jaime (the producer on my new album) had created the drum sequencing, I knew it needed to be pushed a little bit farther, resulting in one of my favorite songs on the album!

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here!
