Rogue Wave's Pat Spurgeon Takes a D Tour To TV This Week
PR reports: D Tour is a most unusual music documentary. Combining a band road trip with a personal quest for an organ donor, the film follows the journey of Pat Spurgeon of Rogue Wave, whose life becomes consumed with the care and feeding of his failing kidney. Spurgeon, a previous kidney transplant recipient, is part of the organ donor / recipient community, a special group whose lives become entwined in life and death. D TOUR premieres on the PBS series Independent Lens on Tuesday, November 10 at 10PM (check local listings).

As the film begins, Spurgeon is embarking on tour, an exhausting prospect even for healthy musicians, but almost impossible for someone coping with dialysis, dietary restrictions and the search for a living donor match. While his choice to keep touring and working towards the band's goals is put to the test, Spurgeon continues to deal with his challenges in a straightforward and matter-of-fact way.

D TOUR also addresses issues within the U.S. healthcare system, including the lack of affordable insurance, the importance of organ donation, and much more. Featuring live performances from Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie), Nada Surf, John Vanderslice, The Moore Brothers, and of course, Rogue Wave. - You can view a trailer here

Take Notice 7 Inch
I Surrender Records reports: Michigan's Take Notice is proud to announce details for their upcoming I Surrender Records release. While their full-length debut is in the works, the band will be releasing The Get-Go 7", available digitally on November 23rd and on vinyl December 15th!

Take Notice represents everything fast-paced and high-energy, breathing new life into the familiar, time-tested glory of melodic hardcore. "It's energetic. It's upbeat. It may be complicated when you break it down but it's accessible to everybody, that's important. It's raw, it's music you can feel." Midwest boys with a distinctly east coast sound, Take Notice calls to mind iconic bands like Kid Dynamite, Lifetime, and The Movielife.

The four-song vinyl will be pressed in four colors: Blue (ltd. 375), Yellow (ltd. 375), Black (ltd. 125) and Pink (ltd. 125). The Get-GO 7" is the perfect opportunity to get a taste for Take Notice, guaranteed to get listeners fired up and ready for more. - more on this story

And Now For Something Completely Different From Oceansize
PR reports: One of the UK's true innovators, Oceansize have carved a unique place for themselves in the music scene. Their previous albums Effloresce, Everyone Into Position and Frames have been critically acclaimed, which is due to the fact that Oceansize look to do things differently than the mainstream. Their sound might be progressive but never forgets the importance of a good song.

With their last release, the comprehensive and strictly limited 3DVD+4CD box-set Feed To Feed, Oceansize had further underlined their status as an unusual band. The audio-visual document was recorded during a series of three gigs the band played at Manchester's Roadhouse in October 2008 to celebrate their tenth anniversary. Each gig was dedicated to a single Oceansize album - Effloresce, Everyone into Position and 2007's acclaimed Frames. The 3 DVDs are accompanied by the matching live-CDs as well as a 4th bonus audio-disc with the shows' encores.

Now, a project Oceansize had in mind for a long time finally took shape - the Home & Minor-EP: Everyone under the sun did their 'MTV Unplugged' session, David St. Hubbins had his collection of acoustic numbers with the London Philharmonic, Bernie Winters had Schnorbitz and, at long last, here is the Oceansize equivalent, the Home & Minor EP. This offering is only available digitally on either ITunes or all other digital download stores.

Fear not, Oceansize haven't gone acoustic. There are no "More Than Words" moments to be found here. Indeed, there's not even actually any acoustic guitar anywhere on it. Moreover, this is a short* collection of the bands more 'settled' numbers. More reserved, with not a distortion pedal in sight**, this lovely EP is a realization of a plan that's been kicking around their collective brains since before they signed in 2002. "Where in the past we've crowbarred-in every single dynamic, idea and style we could think of into a record, we thought it best this time to present a more thematic and cohesive collection, so's not to disrupt the more fainted-hearted listener from their blub-induced slumber." - Mike Vennart (vocals, guitars) - more on this story

Uninvited Dreams Coming From Osada Vida
MMP reports: Osada Vida, one of the best progressive rock bands from Poland, returns this Autumn with their third full-length album - "Uninvited Dreams".

The album will be released by Metal Mind Productions on 23rd November in Europe and 1st December in USA (via MVD) in two editions: as a standard jewel case CD and as a digipak with 3 bonus tracks.

Łukasz Lisiak, Osada Vida's bass player and vocalist, says about the work on this new material: "Working on this album was a fantastic experience for me. Mainly, because we returned to the old way of composing. I mean the way we did it before our previous release "Three Seats Behind A Triangle". So it wasn't like we worked on a given complete song that had come to somebody's mind. We all just met for the sessions so that we could play and try different ideas and decide which of them would be the most suitable. Such an attitude resulted in totally uncommercial, uncompromising material, with the shortest song lasting almost 9 minutes! We approached the new album with no rules, no borders and no limits. Therefore, the new songs sound more as if we had recorded them live. There is a place for Bartek's great guitar solos, for Rafal's crazy keyboard passages, and for Adam's drum craziness of course all in good balance and taste J. In my opinion, it's an incredibly precious album for a listener who searches for complex music, which you have to focus on, listen to carefully, discover and be part of. Consequently, it's definitely not a sort of music that makes you feel bored quickly. We traditionally mixed together all the music styles we love the most: rock, metal, jazz/fusion, prog, electronic and even funky. And I strongly believe Osada Vida has listeners who will enjoy it a lot!"
