Slayer, Megadeth and Testament Team Up For Carnage Tour
Slayer. Megadeth. Two names synonymous with fierce, crunching power. Two bands whose histories are inevitably intertwined in defining the thrash/metal genre. Individually, their respective prowess and accomplishments are impressive; but together, they're brutal and unstoppable. Megadeth and Slayer will join forces to co-headline "American Carnage," the most blistering, the most explosive, and the most eagerly-antcipated mega-tour of the winter - and you do not want to miss it.

"American Carnage" will kick off on January 18 in Seattle, WA for a 26-date trek across North America that will include the six Canadian dates postponed earlier this month. Tickets for most shows go on sale this Friday, November 20. In addition, Testament, who was also on the '91 "Clash of the Titans" bill, will be Special Guests on the entire tour, marking the first time that all three bands have shared a stage together in more than 18 years, and making this a "must see" metal event.

"American Carnage" is the first time that Slayer and Megadeth will have toured the U.S. together since 1991's epic "Clash of the Titans" tour. To celebrate that, and in recognition of the tough economic times that many of their fans are having, Megadeth and Slayer have decided to roll back the price of a chunk of tickets at every U.S. show to the "1991 price" of $10.00. These specially-priced tickets will be limited and when they're gone, they're gone. - more on this story

Ells Offer Free Download From Forthcoming Album
Vagrant Records will release EELS' eighth studio album End Times on January 19. EELS is the ever-changing project of singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mark Oliver Everett (aka E). End Times follows on the heels of EELS' critically acclaimed 2009 release Hombre Lobo. Right now EELS are offering a FREE download of the track "Little Bird" from the new record.

Largely self-recorded on an old four track tape machine in the basement of Everettt's Los Angeles home, the "end times" he writes about isn't "Mayan calendar conspiracy theory bull----," says Everett, but, "the state of the desperate times we live in. The bottom line-ness of it all."

While Hombre Lobo was written from the point of view of a fictional character (namely, the Dog Faced Boy of EELS' 2001 album Souljacker), End Times is purely real life as Everett sees it: a "divorce album" with a modern twist. He equates his personal loss with the world he lives in losing its integrity. This isn't Everett's first break-up record. His 1993 solo effort, Broken Toy Shop, chronicled the broken heart of a young man in his twenties. End Times focuses on the loss of a middle-aged man growing as an artist. The loss has more weight. - more including the mp3 link

The New Loud Live Up To Their Name As Cops Shut Down Their Show For Being Too Loud
The New Loud is apparently too loud for NYC. The band was cut short only four songs into their set at CMJ 2009 when New York's finest showed up in response to a noise complaint during the band's second song. The New Loud, bypassing the club's PA, pressed on at full volume for two more songs before the club pulled the plug. All in a day's work for a band simply living up to its name!

The New Loud is a three-piece electro/punk/new wave band from the blue collar city of Milwaukee, WI. Its debut EP, Can't Stop Not Knowing consists of six tracks including an intense, frenetic cover of Radiohead's "2 + 2 = 5." The EP was produced by band member Shane Olivo and displays a tight mixture of electronic elements and natural sounds, layered obsessively with some songs using up to 80 tracks in the mix.

Five of Can't Stop Not Knowing's tracks were mixed by Mark Trombino. "Mark Trombino was the band's first choice, as all of us greatly admire him from his earlier work with Drive Like Jehu and Rocket From The Crypt, all the way up to his more modern productions such as Jimmy Eat World and Finch," says The New Loud's Olivo. The New Loud will continue its collaboration with Trombino as they begin to record a debut full-length for release during the first half of 2010.

Megadeth's Dave Mustaine At War With Label
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has real disdain for Roadrunner Records. He joins a chorus of other metal vets including Glassjaw, Obituary, Deicide, Death and Pestilence who have openly criticized how the mall friendly label operates.

Mustaine has been frustrated at what he sees as a lack of promotion for the new Megadeth album, which he has spoken out about previously. Of course that is a common complaint, but now he is raving mad because he says that fans can't actually find the album in stores. He wrote on the following on the Megadeth forum last week: "Since we have tried and tried to find out why our records are not being stocked in so many places that our other labelmates are being stocked at, and ALL of our peers are being sold in too, and since we keep getting excuses from either the stores, the distributors, or the other people involved with getting the record in stores and out to you, I have decided that depending on how tired I am each night, I am willing to do their jobs too, and I will be waiting for you each night after we play and we (me) will be autographing records for you at our merchandise booth to support Megadeth somehow at these shows.

Please remember that I am going to be doing my best to do this for us all, although I should NOT have to do this in order to sell my new record. Talk about feeling like a beginner band, and having no real understanding of why you are being treated like you don't deserve to be treated better, but f**k it and f**k them." - more on this story

Monroe states, "I'm still working away on new material and it's coming along quite good. I'd rather take my time as there's really no point rushing the creative process. Like I often say, "better to wait than to have nothing much to wait for".
