Metallica and Megadeth Trying To Tour Together For Decades

It's another nail in the coffin for those who insist the personal problems between Dave Mustaine and his former Metallica bandmates were insurmountable for decades.

Ellefson tells Classic Rock Revisited: "We played shows with them in the past. The first one we did was at the San Francisco Civic Centre on New Year's Eve 1985. Watch Steven Tyler's Surprise Jam
(hennemusic) Looks like Steven Tyler need to stretch his legs and get some air. While spending much of his summer in the studio working on the next Aerosmith album, Tyler stepped out Sunday for a surprise appearance and performance at Scituate's Heritage Days in Scituate, Massachusetts.

The Patriot Ledger reports heavy rainfall Sunday morning spawned feelings of frustration, anxiety and despair for live music organizer Gerry McMorrow, who said the wet weather significantly delayed the performance schedule, forced two acts to cancel and seemingly washed away any hopes of ending the festival on a high note.

Enter Steven Tyler, whose surprise appearance Sunday afternoon drew thousands of fans to Scituate Harbor and helped salvage an event that, only hours before, had all the makings of a washout. The Aerosmith front man took to the stage on the corner of Otis Place and Front Street at approximately 5 p.m. He joined the James Montgomery Blues Band and Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford for two songs: the blues standard "All Your Loving" and the Aerosmith hit/cover of "Train Kept a Rollin'." Tyler also joined The Family Stone later that evening for a couple of songs. Check out video here

Motley Crue Star Going Unplugged
(Gibson) Former Motley Crue and Union singer John Corabi has recorded a solo acoustic album featuring re-recorded Cre and Union songs, as well as new tracks.

Corabi recorded two versions of the Mtley Cre hit "Hooligan's Holiday" a stripped-back acoustic version and a more elaborate but still acoustic-based band arrangement as well as a version of Mtley Cre's "Loveshine" and even a song by Corabi's first band, Angora, which was originally produced by Steve Vai.

Although Corabi only made one album and an EP with Mtley Cre before being ousted for Vince Neil's return, he remains positive about the experience. "I had an amazing time doing that record," Corabi said. "I have no regrets about that thing at all. Still to this day, I meet people like Sevendust, Staind and all the guys in my son's band, that [expletive] love that record. It was heavy, but had melody. Our playing was great and I'm very proud of that thing. I'm proud of the fact that a lot of people think that's the best work Mtley has ever done and that it's a classic record that has stood the test of time." more on this story

The Secret To AC/DC's Success
(Gibson) AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson says that one of the keys to the hard rock legends' success is that they don't try to beat the clock. On the Nights with Alice Cooper radio show, the singer said that the band gets "worried" if time becomes a factor in the creative process.

"There's never any decisions made, that's the thing about AC/DC. Nobody makes any decisions. That's the wonderful thing about AC/DC, it just happens," he said. "Nobody says, 'Right, let's get in the studio by January.' That's because immediately we have an enemy time. And that makes you worried and that makes you in a box and you have to think."

Following the 2008-10 Black Ice Tour one of the most successful tours in music history AC/DC aren't quite ready to hit the road again yet. But they'll do their best to top themselves. "We'll try to make the next tour even better, we'll bloody try," Johnson said.

The Hollies Documentary Coming To DVD
(BM) The Hollies: Look Through Any Window 1963 - 1975 is set to be released on DVD on October 4th across the globe. Issued with the full cooperation of the Hollies, this is the first official documentary film of the legendary British group known for its classic songs and brilliant vocals. The film includes 22 full-length performances sourced from television appearances filmed at the time the songs were hitting the charts for the first time. Between performances, original band members Graham Nash, Allan Clarke, Tony Hicks and Bobby Elliott share the history of one of the most beloved groups of the 1960s. Starting with Graham and Allan reminiscing about singing together as young schoolboys and culminating in the group's last major hit in 1975, the film features over two hours of interviews and music. As a testament to their legacy, The Hollies were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in March, 2010.

The Hollies: Look Through Any Window 1963 1975 [MSPR $14.98] features all of the band's beloved hits including rocking performances of "Bus Stop" and "Stop Stop Stop" from 1967 and "Look Through Any Window" and "I Can't Let Go" from 1966. Also included is a great 1968 performance of "Dear Eloise", a 1966 rendition of UK chart-topper "I'm Alive" and newly discovered versions of "Jennifer Eccles" and "Carrie Anne" from the 1968 Spilt Festival in Yugoslavia. Of special note is 10 minutes of footage of the band shot in early 1967 at the Abbey Road Studios recording session for their world-wide hit "On A Carousel." The segment includes astonishing footage of Graham, Allan and Tony recording their lead and backing vocals, heard "naked," without the instrumental track. Also featured in the film are performances by the Hollies from the "post-Graham Nash era," featuring Terry Sylvester, and including the worldwide chart-toppers "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother," "Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress)" and a beautiful version of their last Top 10 hit "The Air That I Breathe". In addition, the film features never-before-seen home movies of the group on tour in the '60s in America, Europe and Japan and backstage at television appearances, providing a rare glimpse of their offstage lives.

For The Hollies: Look Through Any Window 1963 1975 film every effort has been made to locate the best possible sound and video; each of the performances has been re-transferred and re-mastered from the best-quality, original masters (some having rested in storage vaults for almost 50 years). In the case of lip-sync performances, the original stereo master recordings have been used, replacing the mono broadcast sound and making for a much more enjoyable viewing and listening experience. The DVD also features an informative booklet with an extensive essay by former Rolling Stone editor and award-winning writer, Ben Fong-Torres, including rare photographs and memorabilia. Hurricane Bells Set New Album Release
(CCP) Hurricane Bells will release their sophomore album Tides and Tales on October 25th, 2011 via band architect Steve Schiltz's own Invisible Brigades label.

Tides and Tales is an immediate, compelling 12-song collection that ranges from effortlessly catchy (the chiming power pop of "The Ghost Of Her"; the fuzzy guitar-laced "House On Fire") to quietly haunting and beautiful (the gentle "Blue Blue Moon"; the lilting "Before I'm Gone"; the heart-rending "Flowers In The Dirt") to propulsive and soaring (the dynamic "Possibilities", the driving "Let's Go").

As with Hurricane Bells' debut Tonight Is The Ghost, the album was produced and mixed entirely by Schiltz (longtime front man of Longwave), at his Ol Recording studio in Queens, NY, last fall. This time, however, he recorded the tracks with the help of a few friends, including Ashen Keilyn (Scout), a Hurricane Bells touring mainstay; Justin Furstenfeld (Blue October); and Christian Bongers (bass) and Colin Brooks (drums), who round out the Hurricane Bells live band. more on this story

Beatles History Wrong?
(Rock News Desk) An original member of the band which went on to become the Beatles says the date of their first show at the iconic Cavern Club has been recorded wrongly in history books and it's partly his fault.

Banjo player Rod Davis, who was replaced by Paul McCartney soon after the Quarrymen started gigging, agreed with archivists who suggested the group first performed in the LIverpool venue on August 7, 1957.

But he recently realised the date was wrong: the skiffle group had already played the Cavern by then. "No question about it: I played three or four times at the Cavern and is was definitely before August," Davis tells the BBC. "I have my dad's passport which says, 'Entry to Bolougne, July 29, 1957,' so I was definitely not at the Cavern on August 7." more on this story

Adrenaline Mob Singled Out Week: Hit The Wall
Adrenaline Mob (Symphony X's Russell Allen, Sonic Stomp's Mike Orlando, Dream Theater's Mike Portnoy Fozzy's Rich Ward and Nena's Paul DiLeo) released their self-titled debut EP this week. To celebrate we asked Mike Orlando to tell us about some of the songs. Today he tells us about "Hit The Wall":

Hit The Wall started off musically as a real slanky dirty groovin track. In pure Adrenaline Mob style it has that powerful energy & flowin' groove to it provided by none other then the master himself Mr. Portnoy. I had previously tracked the song with a drum machine as I always do & Russ & I went to town with melodies & lyrics, Right away Russell just killed me with this Cornell inspired verse that knocked me off my chair in pure laughter & intense excitement. I always wanted the powerful downbeat style fist pumping chorus & this track was just perfect for it. Lyrically Russ & I just tapped into the feeling of being so damn frustrated with certain aspects of life, you just feel like Hitting The Wall. Whether it be someone driving you nuts, or your job, or anything like such. The chorus vocal melody just goes along perfect with that motif & has the sing along chant & scream it out loud feel! The release is my favorite as Russ & I wanted to bring the track into a grinding metal groove where Russ gets all Halford like on it which just sucks you right in, real down & dirty. Only to kick your ass with the solo that follows soon after. It's one of my favorite solos and encompasses different techniques which I love to tap into in my solos. I had been jamming on a real nasty Sabbath type riff & Russ just said, that's it brother!! All of sudden the whole end of the song came to life. But MP's drumming just takes this track to a completely different atmosphere. Mike brings that reckless abandon of Keith Moon in the intro & post solo breakdown & just kills it through out the groove & rest of the track. Nothing short of incredible and you would expect nothing less! Rounding off this power house of a track is the Thunder provided by Paul Dileo which shakes the low end like storm about to break.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the EP right here!
