But a band spokeswoman says there's nothing to worry about. "Despite press stories to the contrary, Bono has not suffered a health scare.

Metallica and Lou Reed Name Album and Set Release Date
Metallica and Lou Reed have announced a November 1st North American release date for their joint album which they have dubbed "Lulu".

The news comes from the project's new website which also gives a worldwide release date of October 31st and had this message: The musical collaboration between Lou Reed and Metallica, "Lulu," is coming your way this Fall and this space will be your spot for all things Loutallica(!). We want to start sharing with you just how the "Lulu" project, recorded at HQ just a few short months ago, is coming together. As you can see this site is a work in progress and the plan is to build it before your very eyes. Please bear with us while we piece it all together!

"Lulu" was inspired by German expressionist writer Frank Wededkind's plays "Earth Spirit" and "Pandora's Box," which tell a story of a young abused dancer's life and relationships and are now collectively known as the "Lulu Plays." Since their publication in the early 1900's, the plays have been the inspiration for a silent film ("Pandora's Box," 1929), an opera, and countless other creative endeavors. Originally the lyrics and musical landscape were sketched out by Lou for a theatrical production in Berlin, but after coming together with the 'Tallica boys for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concerts in New York in 2009 all guilty parties knew they wanted to make more music together. Lou was inspired enough by that performance to recently ask the band to join him in taking his theatrical "Lulu" piece to the next level and so starting in early May of this year we were all camped out recording at HQ studios in Northern California, bringing us to today and ten complete songs.

Belladonna Unsure About His Position With Anthrax
(Rock News Desk) Anthrax frontman Joey Belladonna admits he sometimes still worries about whether his bandmates regard him as a permanent fixture on his third tour of duty with the thrash outfit.

He first fronted them between 1984 and 1992, then returned for in 2005 before leaving a year later. When they fired new man Dan Nelson in 2009 they first asked nineties singer John Bush to return, but despite playing a handful of shows he didn't want to commit. That led to Belladonna coming in for a third stint in time for the 2010 Big 4 shows with Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth. Now the band have completed work on long-awaited album Worship Music, due out next month.

But the singer can't quite shake the suspicion that he might be elbowed out again in the future. "Dan didn't work out, then they asked John and he didn't want to do it. So who do they call but me? I guess it was like the last pea on the plate you've got to eat it or there's nothing else, He tells Metal Insider. "Sometimes I feel that way. Then other times it's like, 'Let's get serious and do something that did work, should work and will work.' more on this story

Adler Would Punch Axl In The Face For Late Start Guns N' Roses Reunion Gig
(RockAAA) Steven Adler's public campaign to reunite the Appetite For Destruction-era Guns N' Roses line-up has continued with the drummer once again beating his drum to insist the band could rake in more cash than any other tour in history.

And he jokes he'd make sure singer Axl Rose infamous for no shows and late starts turned up on time by punching him in the face . . . or maybe not as he quickly back tracked. "I'd punch him (Axl) in the face. Oh Godnot the face, not the face! I'd punch him in the kidney! Or I would give him a severe reprimand. Or I would go out there and pick somebody out of the audience to sing for him. There are many options. I just want to do it!"

"We have an opportunity that everybody in the world wishes they could have," Adler told Straight.com. "Whatever U2 did on their tour recently, if we did a GNR reunion, we would double that! And we owe it to the fans! We haven't performed with each other in 20 f**king years, and the fans still have our backs. more on this story

The pair announced their departure in April and Dane says he only heard about the move after they'd released their statements.

"I didn't know they were quitting till I read about it and that's not the way you treat your friends. It was really sh*tty. We could have talked," Dane tells Rock Overdose. "I couldn't give a sh*t about out drummer because we never got along anyway. But Jeff was one of my best friends.

Robbery Traumatic For Machine Head Star's Family
(Rock News Desk) Machine Head mainman Robb Flynn says his young sons had a hard time dealing with the aftermath of a break-in where over $30,000 worth of items were stolen and never recovered from his family home.

He lost five guitars in the crime, including one given to him by late Pantera icon Dimebag Darrel Abbott and a prototype for his custom instrument line. But he's angriest about a small Epiphone Flying V which he'd bought for his three-year-old boy.

"There's been focus on the guitars but they actually got away with videos, laptops, computers, cash, my wife's jewellery and her grandma's jewellery," Flynn tells Ultimate Guitar. "It was pretty f**ked. The hardest part was when me and my two sons discovered it they were six and three and a half at the time. It was really traumatic for them. Every night before they went to bed they were like, 'Dad, are the robbers going to come in and kill me?' I was like, 'No, I'm not going to let that happen.' more on this story

The Rolling Stoned
(Rock News Desk) Tommy Lee remembers being astonished by a Rolling Stones performance five years ago because they'd consumed so many drugs he was convinced they'd never be able to play a show. The Motley Crue drummer says: "Literally five minutes before they're to go on, I walk into the dressing room and Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards are f**king wasted.

"I've played many shows wasted, but these guys could barely walk. I was going, 'There's no way they'll be able to do it. They can't find the stage never mind play the right notes.

"But I was blown away somehow they made it to the stage and as soon as the house lights went off it was just flawless. I was like, 'I cannot believe what I just saw'." more rock news

Circle Takes the Square Premiere New Song Online
(SS) Circle Takes the Square has debuted their first new song in over seven years, "Way of Ever-Branching Paths," at NPR.org.

"Way of Ever-Branching Paths" is the third track on the band's new digital EP, Rites of Initiation, which will be released on August 23 at http://ctts.bandcamp.com/. Rites of Initiation is the first chapter of the band's long awaited album, Decompositions: Volume I, that's scheduled for release in November.

Clocking in at almost nine minutes, "Way of Ever-Branching Paths" is a dynamic and volatile opus with complex arrangements that explode over peaks and valleys of cathartic cacophony. ""Way of Ever-Branching Paths" has the most labyrinthine structure of the songs on Rites of Initiation, and the lyrics were largely inspired by all those twists and turns," explains vocalist/guitarist Drew Speziale to NPR.org. "We realized about halfway through writing it that we were building a maze of notes and riffs. We wanted to add another dimension to that hallway of mirrors by referencing the creative and emotional challenges that arose throughout the process of completing our record. I think most of the difficulties we experienced were probably some of the universal mile-markers on a path toward creative expression, and I started to look at the parallels between the "artistic journey" and the "rites of passage" utilized by many long-standing cultures and traditions. Those ideas filtered into the four tracks that make up the new EP."

Einherjer To Release Their First New Album in Eight Years
(IR) Einherjer will release Norrn, their first new album in eight years on September 13, 20111 via the newly created Indie Recordings North America.

According to singer/guitarist Frode Glesnes, "Varden Brenne" is "an old-school viking metal song, greatly inspired by our own efforts from the mid-'90s. I don't like to limit the reader's reflection on our lyrics, but since it's in Norwegian, I'll bend my rules a bit. 'Varden Brenne' is about the lack of balance, the carelessness and the indifference we see in the world today. We're only humans, but it's too bad we're too narrow-minded to understand that we are rushing to our graves."

Recorded at Norway's Studio Borealis, Norrn was produced by Glesner and mixed and mastered by Matt Hyde (Slayer, Hatebreed, Skeletonwitch). The cover art, painted by Renathe H. Bryn, can be viewed above.
