Arms Of The Sun have parted ways with bassist Rex Brown (Down, ex-Pantera). An official statement from singer Lance Harvill reads as follows: "We have had a situation where we could never see eye to eye concerning the business and creative sides of the band. I love Rex as a friend but if I say it's red he sees it as blue. It doesn't make either of us right or wrong but the songs were written long before Rex ever joined this band, so not getting to make executive decisions over certain creative aspects of the band created a problem for me." more

Slayer Member Hospitalized |
Although Hanneman's doctors were not able to definitively identify the infection's origin, they diagnosed necrotizing fasciitis, and indicated it likely was rooted in a spider bite. The guitarist is now recuperating at home, has already begun the process of subsequent medical procedures including skin grafts, and is expected to make a full recovery.
In light of this situation and Slayer's upcoming participation in the Australian Soundwave Festival tour that is set to kick off on February 26, the band has decided to play the dates without Hanneman and will bring on a guest guitarist to fill in for him until such time as he has fully recuperated and is ready to return to the lineup. Bloc Party and yourcodenameismilo Supergroup Young Legionnaire Debut Set |
While the name Young Legionnaire may be new to you, the players might not be. The group was formed by Paul Mullen formerly of yourcodenameismilo and Gordon Moakes of Bloc Party.
'Crisis Works' is loosely concerned with the idea that crisis can kind of be engineered around us to make us more pliable. As Gordon explains; 'We're living with a siege mentality about recession and spending cuts; that's becoming the narrative for our times. But it's that siege mentality that makes it easier to confer 'difficult' decisions on us from above. It's an excuse, but also an opportunity.' The record, he says, is about 'global economics, but it's probably more about the crisis principle on a personal level, how it affects your own decisions and thoughts'.

The Beatles Win Historic Grammy |
The September 2009 CD release of The Beatles' remastered original albums and new boxed collections in stereo and mono was one of the year's top entertainment events, breaking chart records around the world. The Beatles' original UK studio albums were remastered by this dedicated team of engineers at EMI's Abbey Road Studios in London over a four year period, carefully maintaining the authenticity and integrity of the original analogue recordings. The result is the highest fidelity the catalogue has seen since its original release.
The remastered catalogue comprises all 12 Beatles albums in stereo, with track listings and artwork as originally released in the UK, and 'Magical Mystery Tour,' which became part of The Beatles' core catalogue when the CDs were first released in 1987. In addition, the collections 'Past Masters Vol. I and II' are now combined as one title, for a total of 14 titles over 16 discs. The Beatles' self-titled stereo box set includes these 14 remastered titles and a DVD collection of mini-documentaries about the albums. 'The Beatles in Mono' collects, in a limited edition box set, all of The Beatles' recordings that were mixed for a mono release.

Funeral For A Friend Aim for Perfection |
"All in all, between The Young and Defenceless EP and the touring, it probably took about a year to write. We scrapped quite a bit of stuff and really worked hard on the tracks, we didn't want to rush it. We were guilty of rushing out Memory and Humanity and we knew this record had to be perfect. "
He continued: "With Welcome to Armageddon there's definitely a theme. When you look through the title, lyrics and artwork but I'd say it's less direct and rigid to the way we did Tales Don't Tell Themselves which was very heavily themed and concept based. There's no right or wrong to conclusion to how the theme of this record makes you think it's there for you decide."

Eric Hanke Sets New Album Release |
Factory Man was produced by Hanke's friend and bandmate, Merel Bregante, who gained fame drumming for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Loggins & Messina. Bregante also produced Hanke's debut album, Autumn Blues, which was released in 2006 and signaled the arrival of a new songwriter who drew comparisons to some of the best the Lone Star State has to offer. Bregante also added his drum work to the new CD, along with such other standout players as Bregante's wife, singer Sarah Pierce; guitarist Kenny Grimes; keyboardist Riley Osbourn; and steel player Cindy Cashdollar.
Factory Man is pure Americana music, populated by tales of the hopes, fears and dreams of blue-collar characters all drawn from Hanke's life experiences (he was born in Michigan and moved to Dallas at the age of two), and punctuated with his soaring tenor voice. The title track personifies his approach to writing honest, true-to-life songs that will resonate with everyone.
