Trivium Going Old School |
"This whole record is a response to everything we see in music and in metal," Heafy said. "It's always done the same way: a band will release a song, then release the album cover, and they explain what every little thing is supposed to mean. But we didn't want to do it that way I always thought it irritating that people seem to know the album title and cover so early, and people make their entire assumption about the record in just those little ways. So we set up all those teasers, and we didn't announce the record title until after 'In Waves' was out, and people didn't know yet that In Waves was the record title."
The Trivium frontman said the band wanted to recreate the pre-Internet atmosphere of an album's release. "So we wanted to make it more of an experience like it used to be. Even when I was a kid, when a band was about to release a record, it was a little more exciting. You didn't know everything that was going on, all the details of the record. We wanted to make it fun for the listener, and fun for people to wait for the record to come out."

Twitter Shrunk John Mayer's Brain and Hurt His Songwriting |
"I realized about a year ago that I couldn't have a complete thought anymore, and I was a tweetaholic," Mayer said, according to Rolling Stone. "I had four million Twitter followers, and I was always writing on it. And I stopped using Twitter as an outlet and I started using Twitter as the instrument to riff on, and it started to make my mind smaller and smaller and smaller. And I couldn't write a song."
Mayer has taken a technology-averse stance when recording his new album. "Here are the rules for recording this record: No drum machines, no loops, no keyboards to start out with, no excuses, no breaks, no laptops, no nothing," he said. "If you take a break, it's to eat. If you're done, you go home."

Radio Would Ignore Jimi Hendrix If He Came Out Today? |
"Think about Jimi Hendrix's Smash Hits. This is an album by Jimi Hendrix and it's even called Smash Hits," he said. "But if it came out today it wouldn't be played on the radio. That's weird to me. It's odd that an album that came out in 1967 would be too strange for radio play in 2011."
Elsewhere in the interview, he credited The Beatles for helping give him an independent musical spirit. "Even at age nine, they had a big impression on me, and later on my writing, without me realizing it," he said. "The Beatles did whatever they wanted. This is a band that did 'Helter Skelter,' 'Yesterday' and 'Penny Lane.' No one said, 'Hey, they can't do that!'"

"It's everything that makes Dream Theater what it is. It's all our elements metal elements, progressive elements, melodic elements, and all the playing and fusion elements we've always had. Petrucci spoke about a couple of his biggest influences. "My favorite bands growing up were Yes and Rush so "Hemispheres," "Close to the Edge" "And You and I" those big, dramatic songs are a huge part of what we do, married with the metal sound and melodic sound that makes us unique," he said.

Three Legged Fox Announce New Album Release |
The band shares, "We knew from the word 'go' that we wanted to go really big on this one. We wanted big sounds, accessible songs, and an overall modern approach. We felt as though we had already done the raw, stripped down thing twice; and we had done the whole reggae horns, arrangement type of thing with the last album. It was within us to understand that we're not a traditional American reggae band; we're an alternative rock, reggae band. Ultimately, realizing what we are, and what we aren't made it much easier and a lot of fun making this new album."
The first single off the new album will be "Let You Down," and a music video for the song will be unleashed on Monday August 1, 2011. With over 350 shows played nationally under their belts, Three Legged Fox has shared the stage with notable artists such as Rebelution, SOJA, John Brown's Body, Tyrone Wells, The Black Seeds, Barrington Levy, and The Wailers, to name a few. Following the album release, Three Legged Fox plans on touring to promote the album in major cities nationwide.

Anniversary of The Rolling Stones First No 1 |
After The Beatles had conquered America earlier in the year, the Stones embarked on their first U.S. tour in June of 1964. Bassist Bill Wyman would later remember the trek as a "disaster," because the band had yet to score a big hit in the States. The band got mocked by Dean Martin for their performance and appearance on The Hollywood Palace it was miles away from what the Fab Four had experienced on The Ed Sullivan Show.
Yet, the tour proved quite fruitful in other areas. During the Stones' time as guests on Murray the K's WINS Swinging Soiree radio show in New York, the influential DJ played them a new R&B recording credited to The Valentinos, called "It's All Over Now." The boys loved the song, saying that it was exactly the type of American music they were into. "It's All Over Now" was actually co-written and sung by future soul legend Bobby Womack The Valentinos were really The Womacks, a vocal group consisting of Bobby and his brothers. The single, which had just been released, was produced by Sam Cooke.
While on tour, the Stones were being pressured by their label to record and release new material to capitalize on their rising profile on both sides of the Atlantic. "It's All Over Now" quickly became a contender to be the band's next cover. Nine days after first hearing it on Murray the K's radio show, the boys recorded their version at a very special place. "We cut that in Chess Studios the first time in Chicago," Richards later remembered. "The year before we were playing bars in England, you know. And then we're walking into Chess Studios which was where all of these records that had been made that were so important to us. Now and again in life you get this feeling that you've died and gone to heaven. Luckily, neither was true."
