KISSed Off: Shannon Tweed Vs Gene Simmons
(hennemusic) Shannon Tweed completely busted Gene Simmons' family jewels on US national TV Monday morning. The pair's visit to the NBC Today Show was scheduled to promote the upcoming new season of the KISS bassist's alleged reality series.

In a teaser clip from the show, Tweed confronts Simmons about a photo of the rocker posing outside a Hollywood restaurant with two young blondes on his arm. Simmons tries to explain that he had no idea who the women were, prompting Tweed to snap, "I'm sick of hearing it, I'm sick of seeing it, and I'm sick of looking at it... Gene, please don't play me for a fool."

Tweed looks visibly upset throughout the NBC interview while Gene is clearly uncomfortable, even to the point of being speechless, and how many times has anyone seen the fast talker in that shape?

When asked about their 28-year relationship, Tweed responded "the last two were a bitch," adding the relationship "has pretty much unraveled."

"I'm done. We held it together until [the kids] got to college," Shannon said. more on this story

Dave Mustaine Hints At Megadeth Retirement
(Rock News Desk) Dave Mustaine is currently working on a new Megadeth album and the band will participate in Big 4 shows across Europe and in the US throughout the year. But he hints the outfit will roll to a halt at some point in the future.

"I've got the dubious honour of managing a band called Baptized in Blood, and my manager and I are managing Testament, which is awesome. We're doing some other things outside the scope of playing music, so once I hang up my guitar I'm still going to be very much involved and I'm excited about that."

Mustaine also says rumors circulated about him in the press made it more difficult for him to clean up his life. And he regrets the fact that negative headlines were published about him even after he'd stopped saying and doing things which upset others. A lot more on that here

Rob Zombie Cancels Tour
(Rock News Desk) Rob Zombie has canceled all European dates from June 26, after calling off his two shows in Ireland at the end of June.

He hasn't given a full reason but says: "It's not because I'm sick, it's not because we don't like you, and it's not because of any of the rumors.

"Things have taken place that mean we have to return to the US after the 26th. It's a total drag on every level. We feel bad about it and we'll return and make it up to you." more rock news

Phil Anselmo Still Down With Rex Brown
(Rock News Desk) Down bassist Rex Brown needs positive thoughts sent his way while he deals with some personal demons, says frontman Phil Anselmo.

Brown's status with the band remains in doubt, with his place filled on their current tour by Crowbar's Patrick Bruders. Guitarist Pepper Keenan recently said: "He's not out of the band but he's not playing with us live," and suggested he'd been issued with an ultimatum. But Brown denied that, although he admitted: "We're having a little marital spat I'm in the doghouse."

Now Anselmo has called for fans to show support for Brown. He says: "To put it kindly, Rex needs to address some personal things in his life. When he addresses the extremity of these things, it's going to take him away from music and touring and stuff like that." more on this story

E Street Band's Clarence Clemons Undergoes Brain Surgeries Following Stroke
(hennemusic) Bruce Springsteen fansite Backstreets has issued an update on the status of E Street Band saxophonist Clarence Clemons, who suffered a stroke Sunday at his home in Florida.

The site reports that, after two subsequent brain surgeries at a Florida hospital, the good news is that Clarence is currently responsive and in stable condition, though still in a fight for his life. "If anyone can pull off the miracle, it's him," says a close friend. "He's fought back from so much before."

The latest update out of Florida has Clemons in better condition than anyone expected, a close friend tells Backstreets: "Yesterday, it did not look good at all. Today... miracles are happening. His vital signs are improving. He's responsive. His eyes are welling up when we're talking to him. He was paralyzed on his left side, but now he's squeezing with his left hand. This is the best news we've heard since [the stroke] happened it's nothing short of miraculous. The next five days will still be critical. But he's a fighter." more on this story

Motley KISS Re-Union?
(Gibson) Union, the hard rock supergroup featuring ex-KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick and former Motley Crue singer John Corabi, may just be ready to reunite.

In two interviews both published on June 12, Kulick talked about the potential for a new Union album. In an interview with Metal Sludge he states, "John Corabi and I, in addition to (drummer) Brent Fitz, have spoken about doing things if they come up right. John and I obviously are excellent together and Brent really is one of my favorite drummers."

Meanwhile Kulick told Rock Music Star that Union's first run around the block was mistimed, given the changes that were happening in the music scene in the mid 90s. "It was a hard time to do anything hard rock," he said. "So here we are, this terrific band struggling, with good material, and a good pedigree, but the music climate was working against us. I think staying away from it for like 10 years, people might be more hungry, and there could be really an exciting announcement later this year for something, that John and I do with the title, 'Union.' It could happen. We're waiting for the stars to align." more on this story

Singled Out: The Young Presidents' Wide Open
Today The Young Presidents tell us about "Wide Open" from their brand new album "Freedom of Speech," which hits stores today. Here is the story:

Wide Open is the lead single from our first studio album, Freedom of Speech. This song has a special significance to us because it was one of the first original songs we played together and it sparked the desire to write the music that became our sound. We open with this song at every show because we all approach music from an energetic, joyful place and we feel like this song captures that spirit.

The lyrics of Wide Open bring us back to the feeling that every boy has growing up, not having any idea what to do around girls and developing a false confidence that is all too amusing in retrospect. It reflects the nostalgia of being able to hang out in the summer without a care in the world not yet jaded by age or bad experiences. It's one of the few times in life when you're genuinely accepting of anything.

Wide Open conveys a youthful optimism of love and life. We believe this song encourages people to recapture the joy and innocence of discovering young love and bring a little of it back into their lives. When you are 'wide open all the time' then no opportunity will every pass you by!

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!
