Fan Scam Lands Singer in Rehab
(Rock News Desk) Dance Gavin Dance singer Jonny Craig has checked into rehab after fans of the band revealed how he'd conned them out of thousands of dollars to feed his drug addiction.

Craig told people he was selling a laptop and took between $500 and $650 from a number of them, then failed to deliver the goods while supplying a chain of excuses before eventually blanking those who'd paid up.

After fans calculated he'd raised at least $4950 out of them, and believe another $3000 of theft may still be revealed, Craig's label and management company stepped in and sent him to a rehab centre. more on this story

The Kinks To Reunite Without Dave?
(Gibson) It appears that Ray Davies might attempt to reform The Kinks without his brother, and lead guitarist, Dave Davies. The frontman told Q magazine that he hasn't seen his sibling in a while and reacted to some things Dave had said about a possible reunion.

A few months ago, Dave had said a Kinks reunion would be like "a bad remake of Night of the Living Dead."

"I can understand what he's trying to say," Ray said. "I think it's a reference to comebacks in general. The fortunate thing for me is that I was never a sexy frontman. Dave was always the pretty kid. So maybe he feels that way about himself.

"But we'll do it without him if we have to. The music is the issue." more on this story

Joe Bonamassa Releasing New Album
(Gibson) Already deep into a tour that will take him to the U.S., Canada, Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, Belgium, France, Japan, China and Australia, Joe Bonamassa has his eyes set on a March 22 release date for his new album, Dust Bowl.

The album, produced by longtime collaborator Kevin Shirley (Iron Maiden, Rush), features guest appearances by Hughes, Vince Gill and John Hiatt. Swaying gracefully between searing blues, heavy rock and boot-stompin' country, the album further cements Bonamassa's status as one of the preeminent guitar heroes of the past decade.

"This is the best album we've ever done," Bonamassa said. "I'm finding more inspiration in storytelling in my 30s, in writing songs that are about something more profound than 'my baby left me.' I like albums that are made with the right intentions and sound organic and a little rough around the edges, like a great band playing live in the room, and that's what we accomplished with Dust Bowl." more on this story

Singled Out: After Midnight Project
Today Jason Evigan from After Midnight Project tells us about their new single "Hour Glass" from their brand new E.P coming out titled "You Belong". Here is the story:

The song I want to talk about tonight is "Hour Glass" this is the new single we are putting out March 1st. In 2009 we recorded our full length album with Jon Feldmann. The album was titled "Lets Build Something to Break". We put it out on Universal Motown. The album did alright. We toured all around the U.S for a few years and had some of the greatest times of our life. We played arenas and festivals and we did all the things we have always dreamed of since we were little kids just rocking with our guitars in the garage. Late 2010 we got the call from Universal that we were parting ways. At first it was a bit shocking, kind of a relief though. I feel like it wasn't the right fit. We just didn't fit into the Motown scene.

So after a few months of being off the road, we said lets make a new album by ourselves. I called up Spencer and Christian and said "Block out the next two weeks. We are turning our phones off, putting super weird movies on, buying some weed and going to another galaxy". We record the 6 songs in about a month. We watched some of the weirdest movies while recording, a lot of Grind House films. My grandmother had just passed away so this was a great way for me to escape what was going on in the family.

The song Hourglass was inspired by fear. Fear is what holds us back all the time! The finish line, the outcome of what MAY happen is what is always stagnating us and making us stand still in this super short life! I was sitting in the studio and thinking about all the people who I truly love and admire and thinking about how sad I would be if I lost any of them. Instead of calling them up and just telling them I loved them I separated my self because I didn't want to get any closer and have my love get more intense for them. SOOO backwards, Man up and deal with death. Its unavoidable.

The Chorus is "lets kick over the Hour glass, lets break it so this always last". Time goes by fast and I just wish I could catch up on all the things I've missed out on. But I can guarantee that if life actually had a giant hourglass I would be smashing it!

"Blissful children underneath the sun. Its so easy to forget how to live when you don't know how".
This sums up us being in the studio. Just blissful dudes in there 20s not trying to grow up, not trying to turn on the news, not trying to face the harsh realities that every one is faced with everyday. But at the end of the day we do and its ok.

We listened to a lot of really cool music in the studio.. The new Deftones album was on a lot, Miike Snows album was on all the time and so was Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Forces. We video taped a lot of the shenanigans that went down in the studio. We invited all our artistic friends to come and hang out in the studio and just help inspire the whole process.

We came out of the studio a month later and fell in love with everything that we created. I get so pumped when I think about playing these songs live. They have such a different vibe. New and fresh. I know that some of our fans might not understand it at first but I really feel they will catch on and see that its still After Midnight Project just an evolved version.

The E.P. is titled "You Belong" Its a constant reminder to ourselves and everyone else.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!

Yes Doing Fine With Replacement Singer
(Rock News Desk) Yes bassist Chris Squire says the band's fans don't miss singer Jon Anderson, who was replaced by a tribute band singer in 2008.

Anderson fell ill and was unable to work on a planned tour, so the band brought in Benoit David and toured under the name Howe, Squire and White of Yes. The tour was cut short when Squire fell ill, but resumed in 2009 with Benoit under the name Yes.

Anderson was reported to be disappointed with developments, and last year tried to alert ticket-buying fans that they wouldn't see him if they attended the tour. Former keyboardist Rick Wakeman, whose son Oliver is now in the band, went further and said: "That's not Yes any more. I have no respect for that band." more on this story

Bob Dylan's Muse Dies
(Gibson) Bob Dylan's early '60s muse, Suze Rotolo, died on February 24 at the age of 67 after a long illness. Rotolo was a passionate civil rights activist, an artist who specialized in artists' books, and a teacher at the Parsons School of Design in New York City.

Rotolo inspired Dylan tracks, including "Boots of Spanish Leather," "Tomorrow is a Long Time" and "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right," and also appeared with Dylan on the cover of The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan.

Dylan and Rotolo began dating in 1961 in New York when she was 17. Dylan described their first meeting in his 2004 memoir, Chronicles: Volume One: "She was fair skinned and golden haired, full-blooded Italian. The air was suddenly filled with banana leaves. We started talking and my head started to spin. Cupid's arrow had whistled past my ears before, but this time it hit me in the heart and the weight of it dragged me overboard." more on this story

Jeff Beck's Favorite Guitar Solos
(Gibson) Amid the hoopla surrounding the launch of his latest CD/DVD, Rock 'n' Roll Party: Honoring Les Paul, guitar god Jeff Beck took some time this week to discuss his favorite guitar solos of all time. Speaking with MusicRadar.com, Beck opined on the difficulty in compiling such a list.

"It's always hard to come up with a definitive list when asked these kind of questions," said Beck. "Because you end up remembering something you'd forgotten almost immediately afterwards. There are a few Jimi Hendrix things that will always figure quite highly for me "Purple Haze" and "All Along the Watchtower" especially but there are two or three others that I really want to mention..."

Gene Vincent and His Blue Caps, "Race with the Devil": "Gene's guitarist, Cliff Gallup, was an absolute genius. There just isn't another word to describe him. I read an interview with him once where he claimed that he never worked out in advance what he was going to play, and the idea that he came up with the two guitar breaks on this song on the spot is just incredible it took me months and months of practice to get anywhere near what he played! There isn't a dropped note to be heard anywhere, and the tone of the solo is just perfect." more on this story

The Beatles Sparked Robert Cray's Passion
(Gibson) One might assume that Robert Cray was originally inspired to pick up the guitar by someone like B.B. King or Muddy Waters, given his lengthy and successful career as a bluesman. But the five-time Grammy winner says that he was originally inspired to strap on an axe by a decidedly more rock-and-roll act.

"I got a guitar because The Beatles came out," Cray told Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania's Times Leader. "I wanted to be a Beatle, and my parents thought I was nuts."

A couple of years later, Cray says that he was lucky enough to catch a Jimi Hendrix concert, an event that changed his outlook on music and his instrument. "After that, I started listening to all these guys with cool names like Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf. I got really into blues and R&B right before getting out of high school." more on this story
