Download New Pearl Jam- Dave Grohl Vs Glee Round 2- Adele Tops Beatles and Pink Floyd- AFI Break Up A Hoax- Killwhitneydead Return- Evanescence Tease- more
(Antiquiet) Pearl Jam was going to unveil a brand new song on Jimmy Fallon's show last night, but they pulled a fast one on us and put a finished studio version of it up on their site just minutes before the show aired! It's called "Ol," and it's a bouncy little rocker check out the song here

(Classic Rock) Adele has become the first artist to sell three million copies of an album in the UK during a calendar year, the album in question being 21. Not even The Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band or Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon have done that before. more

(Loudwire) Head Foo Fighter Dave Grohl reiterated his stance against having his music in Glee during an appearance on 'Chelsea Lately.' He said, "As a musician, you should be able to say no. You should be able to say, 'No, I don't want to do your show,'" Grohl told Chelsea. "Why should you have to say, 'Okay, Glee. Take my song and turn it into a fing musical?'" more

(Billboard) Rumors and reports were flying around yesterday that goth-rockers AFI had split up. But it was apparently all a misunderstanding: the band's management posted a statement on the band's Facebook page declaring that AFI has definitely not broken up more

(The 1st Five) Four Year Strong's new album, In Some Way, Shape, Or Form, release date has been pushed back to November 8th rather than October 4th but there is some good news. Read about it here

(Lambgoat) Senses Fail will be touring in November with Stick To Your Guns, Make Do And Mend, and The Story So Far in tow. more

(The 1st Five) Touche Amore will be joined by Pianos Become Teeth and Seaheaven on the Fall dates that include a couple of fests. more

(Noisecreep) Throwdown will headline the first annual Brawloween tour, a brand new live event which will stretch across the West Coast with support from Carnifex, First Blood and Suffokate. more

(BMN) A teaser for "What You Want", the first single/video from Evanescence's upcoming self-titled third album has gone online. The clip was filmed on July 30 on a makeshift stage inside a Brooklyn warehouse. "This video is sort of, like, the history of the band," Evanescence singer Amy Lee told MTV News. "This club [set] is emulating old shows we used to play in the beginning we used to play this club called Vino's in Little Rock it's sort of like back then, the gritty, dirty club, sweaty. And basically, it's also [about] New York, where I've been, [and] where [bassist] Tim [McCord] lived in the past few years since we've been gone. And it's sort of about escaping New York and ... coming back out into the world." Watch it here

On September 20th Eagle Rock will release the very last live performance in the life of acclaimed guitarist/singer/songwriter Gary Moore. Live At Montreux 2010 strikingly shows a major return-to-rock for the musician who spent years exploring the blues. In fact, in the last days of his life, Moore, who died on February 6 of this year, was working on a new rock album. We were sent a preview clip from the release, check out Gary Moore performing 'Where Are They Now' here

(Lambgoat) Killwhitneydead, returning from an unannounced hiatus back in May of 2010, have nearly completed work on their new album, and first since 2007. The new record, titled "Suffer My Wrath," is due for release in early-2012. The band says they "decided to give fans an early preview of the album's more straightforward metal direction in the form of the track 'Sound The Alarms.'" Check it out here

Rolling Stones Reconvene?
(Gibson) Caught on camera at the same place and at the same time, The Rolling Stones have caused quite a stir in the British press. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts were snapped leaving an office in London on Wednesday, September 7.

With a much-rumored 50th anniversary tour for 2012 perhaps now in the works, the Daily Mail gushed over the legendary band's youthful appearance. The newspaper said: "The band still showed they had star power, with a fan touching Ronnie Wood and a photographer taking his picture as he is ushered into a waiting car. Keith [Richards] joined his bandmate in the young-dressing stakes, donning one of his trademark headscarves underneath a stylish hat."

Jagger is currently busy with his SuperHeavy alongside Joss Stone, Damian Marley, Dave Stewart and A.R. Rahman. And it was announced this week that Richards' autobiography Life, published last year, has sold over one million copies. more on this story

Anthrax Day in the Bronx
Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. is declaring Anthrax Day in the Bronx the same day the group take the stage for the Yankee Stadium Big 4 concert featuring Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax.

Here is what we received about the special declaration: The "Big 4" concert also represents a homecoming for Anthrax, which features three native Bronxites among their members--Charlie Benante, Frank Bello and Rob Caggiano. Both Benante and Bello grew up in Throggs Neck, while Caggiano is a native of Pelham Parkway. In honor of the band's return home, Borough President Diaz will officially declare September 14 as "Anthrax Day in the Bronx."

"The Bronx may be known as the home of hip-hop and salsa, but make no mistake, our musical contributions are much more expansive. These heavy metal legends grew up right here in our borough, and I am proud to welcome Anthrax back to their Bronx home," said Borough President Diaz. more on this story

Metallica's Lars Ulrich Jazzed
(Gibson) When it comes to talking about the history of metal, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich is a great talk show guest. But, who knew he could speak just as passionately about jazz? That's exactly what the percussionist will do on an upcoming edition of BBC 2's radio show Jamie Cullum on September 20th.

According to Blabbermouth, Ulrich will discuss the impact jazz had/has on his Metallica work, as well as his father's influence as a jazz musician. His dad, Torben Ulrich, was a jazz clarinetist in Copenhagen in the 1950s who befriended greats such as Stan Getz and Dexter Gordon. Gordon was even Lars' godfather.

Musician/host Cullum had this to say about the Metallica drummer: "Long before I was into jazz, I was a fan of heavy metal music. Metallica are one band that really did it for me in my early days. I've always been interested in the technical mastery it took to play both jazz and heavy metal. When I discovered Lars Ulrich, one of the founder members of Metallica, is into his jazz, I had to get him onto my Radio 2 show." more on this story

Sebastian Bach's Tuff Talk Against Metal Sludge
(superLOUD) They say time heals all wounds, but that does not appear to be the case between hard rocker Sebastian Bach and Stevie Rachelle's rock/comedy website Metal Sludge. Bach and Rachelle have been at each others' throats for over a decade now. Although their feud had quieted in recent years, it has suddenly intensified due to a recent Metal Sludge post involving Bach and his girlfriend. When recently asked about Sludge in a sleazeroxx.com interview posted on Wednesday, Bach had this to say:

"Right, Stevie Rachelle's website. (pauses) I'll tell you exactly what that's about. Stevie Rachelle was in a band called Tuff that was a Skid Row/Poison kind of band that never made it. He came up with a website about the bands that did make it. He's a jealous guy that never had any musical success. When he started his website Stevie Rachelle emailed me asking me to do an interview for the website. I went to look at the website and I said, 'No. I think your website sucks. I think this website is bullsh*t. I think it's wrong that you have nothing better to do with your time than to f*ck with people's lives. You can hate me, but I'm not doing an interview for your bullsh*t website.' I received a response from him saying, 'Well, then we're going to make your life a living hell.' That's exactly what he's tried to do. He goes after my children, he goes after my ex-wife, he goes after my current girlfriend -- I'm divorced because of some of the stuff on that website and my kids don't have their father partially due to that website. Let me just say that I really look forward to meeting him again in person -- as soon as I can. I certainly have some things to say to Stevie Rachelle from Tuff... We'll see who's tough in person."

Not one to hold his tongue, Stevie immediately fired right back with his own comments on Metal Sludge. Read that here

Saves The Day Deranged and Desperate
Saves The Day have released a new music video for the song "Deranged and Desperate" from their forthcoming album Daybreak, due out on September 13th.

"For me, 'Deranged & Desperate' is about longing to be at peace with who you are," remarked lead singer Chris Conley. "In a complicated world where we are under pressure to succeed, sometimes we lose ourselves trying to prove to our parents and peers that we are worthy and without fault.

"The video paints a picture of our ability to overcome the pressures of the world by showing children in adult clothing holding morose drawings and then dropping the drawings and shedding the clothes to reveal colorful kid attire and smiling faces. It was inspiring working with Penta, and his gift of clear vision helped create a beautiful visual interpretation of the song." more on this story

White Wizzard Explain New Album Title
(EAR) White Wizzard will release their new album, Flying Tigers, in Europe on September 19th and in North America on November 15th.

The band's bassist and mainman Jon Leon recently took some time to speak to Classic Rock magazine about the meaning behind Flying Tigers, a tribute to a legendary World War II fighter squadron.

Jon Leon said, "When I wrote the music and lyrics for this song, it just seemed so visual that it lent itself to being the album title. The Flying Tigers was the name given to the First American Volunteer Group of the Chinese Air Force, and they took on the Japanese, who had far superior aircraft, with incredible success. Their kill to death ratio was amazing." more on this story

Turisas Announces New Lineup
Turisas have announced a new lineup as they get ready to continue to tour this fall. Here is the official word: Jukka-Pekka Miettinen (ex-Arthemesia, Ensiferum) will be joining the band on bass for forthcoming shows, and Robert Engstrand (ex-Kotipelto, The Flower Kings) will be coming into a completely new role in the band---as keyboard player.

This change is in response to the sad news that current bassist Hannes Horma and accordionist Netta Skog have decided to leave the band due to personal and motivational reasons. This announcement will NOT affect Turisas' tours this fall in any way: the band will perform as advertised at this year's Heidenfest tour in Europe, and afterwards will do a full length headlining tour in the UK, Ireland, Spain and Portugal.

The band comments: "A band is not something that can be kept together by force. If someone wants to quit, there's not much the rest of us can do about that. Both for Hannes and Netta it came down to the same thing: a choice between the band and other personal interests had to be made. We tried to find a compromise where both could be combined, but unfortunately in both cases it didn't seem possible at their end. Neither Hannes or Netta played a critical role in the creative process and studio work of the band, so in this sense not much will change. Still, they were always great onstage and we shared many memorable moments together. We would like to make it very clear that there is no drama here, and thankfully no hard feelings. Both Hannes and Netta made their decisions completely independently, based on their own personal reasons. Their departures are not connected in any way, it was just that this short quiet period between the Euro festivals and the forthcoming touring was the only meaningful time to make a smooth changeover to the new members." more on this story

Krisiun To Deliver The Great Execution in November
Century Media have set a November 1st North America release date for Krisiun's new album "The Great Execution". Here are the details the label sent over:

"The Great Execution" is the band's 8th studio album and musically expands Krisiun's trademark high speed death metal violence with a heavily increased amount of diversity, ranging from extreme tempo variations over distinct rhythm patterns to clean guitars----and even Flamenco parts!

Krisiun only used analog gear and instruments while recording this album to avoid the compressed sound that so many musicians produce today. This wise decision resulted in a more organic sound, with the songs on "The Great Execution" possessing both a warmth and a rawness that is so often lost through digital production. The low end is deeper, with drums that pound instead of bounce and guitar tones that sear rather than hiss. more on this story

Singled Out: All Mankind's Can You Hear Me?
Today Dave Beeston from Aussie rockers All Mankind tells us about their new single "Can You Hear Me?" from their forthcoming album "Simple Desire," which hits stores on September 26th. Here is the story:

This song is one of those songs that sticks around for a long time. It's one of those songs that people really connect with and it gives you the inkling that maybe you'll be playing it for the rest of your career. I say that because it was put together all the way back in 2006 and it's still hanging around! During one of our then rare writing sessions, Rich (singer, lead songwriter) came in with a track which at the time was called "Shining City." Rich played it through and Gav and I played along. It sounded pretty cool but Rich felt he wanted a different approach on the drums; he wanted more of a marching style groove. No problem! So we played through, got all our parts together fairly quickly and recorded a really rough demo just through a laptop microphone. Little did we know that apart from the lyrics the song would hardly change after that point.

Later in 2006, we did another demo of the song but this time it was a little more involved than just a laptop mic. We put all the rhythm tracks down, almost as they are now. We got in a mate to also put down a few lead guitar lines and Rich put his vocals on top. At some point between the two demos Rich had changed the lyrics to "Can You Hear Me?" based on a period of time in his life where things felt a little hopeless. After we did the demo we kind of put the song aside for about two years until we recorded an album as the new band, All Mankind. This was recorded in Sydney at 301 studios. The album was never properly released but at the time that song was gaining a lot of attention, especially from our current managers who heard the song and were immediately blown away, which was nice.

Enter 2010. This is the year we recorded our soon to be released debut album, Simple Desire, with superstar producer, Mike Crossey. This was to be the definitive version of the song. Mike brought the energy out, he brought the vibe out and we recorded the version that really does the song justice. The only thing that was to change was a middle section; we later decided to put in a guitar solo so we could keep the energy of the song really pumping. It's been a long journey for the song, but one that has been pretty amazing thus far. This song changed the direction of our band, and in the process has changed our lives, we are looking forward to what other changes it brings!

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself as you check out the video and learn more about the album right here!
