Man Convicted of Killing Mother Over Avril Lavigne Tickets

Dave Grohl Once Quit Nirvana
(Gibson) Dave Grohl briefly left Nirvana in 1993. Why? Because Kurt Cobain, astonishingly, complained about Grohl's drumming skills.

An upcoming biography, This Is a Call: The Life and Times of Dave Grohl, reveals the drummer/guitarist, already fed up of tensions within Nirvana, decided he'd had enough after overhearing Cobain talking about him on a plane. Remembering a band flight from Seattle to Los Angeles in '93, Grohl says: "Kurt was kinda f----d up. And I heard him talking about how s----y a drummer I was."

At the flight's end, Grohl learned from Novoselic that Cobain wanted him to "play more like" Mudhoney drummer Dan Peters, who briefly played drums for Nirvana prior to Grohl. This was the last straw for Grohl, who called Nirvana's tour manager Alex McLeod and told him he wanted out of the band. more on this story

Chickenfoot Is Not A Supergroup
(RockAAA) Chickenfoot's Michael Anthony says that there's no 'supergroup' mentality in the band and that they came together as a result of Sammy Hagar organising a jam in Las Vegas during a Superbowl Weekend in 2008.

Speaking to Noisecreep, Anthony said: "The minute the word got out about Chickenfoot, everyone called us a supergroup. But the one cool thing about this band is that we were all friends before got it started. It wasn't like we said, "Hey, let's get the drummer from Red Hot Chili Peppers and Joe Satriani on guitar!" It just didn't happen that way

"Chad jammed with Sammy and I in Cabo San Lucas at Sammy's club, Cabo Wabo Cantina, years before Chickenfoot started. I've jammed with Joe before too. So it wasn't like we went into jam together as strangers.

"The first time Chickenfoot played together was back in 2008 in Las Vegas on Super Bowl weekend. more on this story

Singled Out: Van Hunt's Eyes Like Pearls
Today Van Hunt tells us about "Eyes Like Pearls" from his brand new album "What Were You Hoping For?" which was released this week. Here is the story:

I wanted the guitar distortion on 'Eyes Like Pearls' to sound so menacing that it could chase people down the street. The lyrics were written at the apex of discovery -- finding a monster living inside of a girl I was hanging with and falling in complete primal love with her.

That song is about finding out who someone is, WHY they are the way they are and turning their scars into a reason to celebrate and change my life. Letting her know that I love her BECAUSE of the sh*t she has survived. Letting her know that everyone else is wrong and SHE is right to be who she is.

The song is about a real f**king union, man. More than grass on fire, it is an earthen inferno -destruction as a pathway to creating what we wish the world
could aspire TO.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!
