With diehard Blink-182 fans counting the days until the Dec. 18 release of their new Dogs Eating Dogs EP, the band has delivered an early holiday present by unveiling the first song from the record, "Boxing Day."
Backing up earlier claims that the EP would feature a folksier side of the band, the Christmas-themed "Boxing Day" is a break-up song reminiscent of older tunes like "Adam's Song," delivering gentle, emotional melodies powered on acoustic guitars and an understated beat from the usually hyper-kinetic drummer Travis Barker.
"Dogs Eating Dogs will be nothing like Neighborhoods, but it's also not just a return to the band's early releases," the band's singer and guitarist Tom DeLonge explained to Billboard. " Read more and listen to the song here.

Sitar legend Ravi Shankar, best known in the west for his influence on the Beatles, died on Tuesday in a San Diego area hospital. He was 92.
Pandit Ravi Shankar, whom George Harrison dubbed the 'godfather of world music,' was also the father of singer Norah Jones.
His family released this statement on his website: As you all know, his health has been fragile for the past several years and on Thursday he underwent a surgery that could have potentially given him a new lease of life. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the surgeons and doctors taking care of him, his body was not able to withstand the strain of the surgery. We were at his side when he passed away.
We know that you all feel our loss with us, and we thank you for all of your prayers and good wishes through this difficult time. Although it is a time for sorrow and sadness, it is also a time for all of us to give thanks and to be grateful that we were able to have him as a part of our lives. His spirit and his legacy will live on forever in our hearts and in his music.
The Daily Mail has an in-depth article about his career and legacy that you can read here.

This past weekend marked the 32nd anniversary of John Lennon's assassination on December 8, 1980. Disturbingly enough, the album Lennon signed for the man who would shoot him five hours later, Mark David Chapman, is up for sale.
As the story goes, Lennon signed a copy of his then-new album Double Fantasy for Chapman near his home at the Dakota on NYC's Upper West Side, as documented by this photo that circulated widely following the assassination.
The signed LP was later found in a flower planter outside Lennon's apartment building and used as evidence against Chapman, whose fingertips were all over the cover and sleeve more on this story

Frightened Rabbit have released a new music video for the track "The Woodpile" from the band's forthcoming album "Pedestrian Verse," which will be released February 5th in the U.S.
The album was recorded at the famed Monnow Valley Studio in Rockfield, South Wales with producer Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno, David Byrne, Grace Jones) and mixed by Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire).
Singer Scott Hutchison says of the new album, "The title is taken from a lyric in 'State Hospital.' I felt it was a nicely faceted title, with enough layered meaning to remain open to interpretation. Above all though, it was a gauntlet I threw down for myself. If you call your album 'Pedestrian Verse,' you can't settle for any old lyric. It forced me to better myself. In fact, I think we all stepped up on this album and I believe that our producer Leo Abrahams had a major role in that step. He threw our music into areas we had not previously imagined. More than any other record we've done this has been a genuine journey of discovery into new ways of working in order to develop and fully realize each of the songs. As a result, I think 'Pedestrian Verse' is the strongest and most interesting record we've made to date." Watch the video here.
