New Metallica Not Coming Soon
(Gibson) Metallica's Lars Ulrich has told Canada radio station 99.3 The Fox not to expect any new music soon.

When asked how close Metallica fans are to seeing a new studio album from the band, Ulrich said, "I wouldn't use the word 'close.' I mean, obviously, in the context of, say, the age of planet Earth, we're pretty close. But in the context of, say, other things, there may be one or two football seasons, or one or two baseball seasons, or one or two hockey seasons We've gotta do this movie, and we're gonna get back to writing when we've done this movie. I would say late '13 or early '14.

"It's difficult to imagine I think even late '13 may be a bit optimistic. I would say hopefully we can realistically get a record out probably about a year and half from now, so maybe early '14."

But Metallica are filming a 3D movie soon. Predators director Nimrd Antal will film the band's August 24-25 concerts at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada, for a movie. "The rest of the film will be shot the next two or three weeks after the shows in Vancouver, into the middle to the third week of September," Ulrich said. more on this story

He tells CityBeat "There always be only nine. I don't know if there will ever be another person on stage there probably could be another bass player behind us. I don't know, and I don't have to think about it because it's a long way off." more on this story

Former Black Sabbath Singer Surprised By Iommi Revelation
(Classic Rock) Former Black Sabbath singer Tony Martin believes the band don't have the guts to face up to internal disputes. He's revealed the first time he knew about Tony Iommi's criticisms of his near ten-year stint with the metal pioneers was when he was told about comments the guitarist made in his book.

But he remains proud of his time as replacement for Ozzy Osbourne and Ronnie James Dio and remembers how his 1987 audition came as a surprise to him.

In his biography Iron Man, Iommi slates Martin for being "unprofessional" and having "no stage presence." The singer tells Uber Rock: "They never said anything to me. We could have fixed it. I said to them endlessly that if there was anything they wanted changed, done differently, just to say and we could fix it.

"They didn't. They hadn't got the guts to, obviously." more on this story

Muse Compares Dubsteb To Heavy Metal
(Classic Rock) Muse recorded a dubsteb track - and maybe two - for upcoming album The 2nd Law after seeing leading light Skrillex perform a live show. And they say the experience proved to them that dubsteb is the new heavy metal.

Skrillex previously turned Korn onto the possibilities of the genre, resulting in their album The Path of Totality and Muse have followed them down the experimental path, which they'll reveal in The 2nd Law: Unsustainable, the penultimate track on their next record.

Drummer Dom Howard reports: "We went to see Skrillex and we went, 'F**k, it's so heavy!' It was like a full metal gig they had circles of death. People were moshing. I hadn't seen a reaction like that to electronic music before. We took inspiration and came up with The 2nd Law: Unsustainable." more on this story

Mick Fleetwood Overcame His Musical Insecurity
(Classic Rock) Mick Fleetwood admits it took him years to stop feeling insecure about his approach to playing music.

But now he's learned to live with it, he believes his "back to front" attitude is the only way he could ever perform his percussion duties.

I approach my own work in a very emotional, personal way, and so I have to rely on one thing the essence of feel, The Fleetwood Mac icon tells Music Radar. "I didn't always understand what it was and I used to be insecure about that. But now I truly know that I feel most comfortable when I'm emotionally involved." more on this story

B Sides

Anchor & Brail Singled Out Week: Find Me
This week Anberlin's lead singer Stephen Christian's releases the new Anchor & Brail album "Quiet Life." To celebrate, we asked Stephen to tell us about some of his favorite songs from the album. Today he tells us about the song "Find Me":

This song was written on the top floor of a double-decker bus in England. It was raining that night and I didn't feel like going out that night. I was away from my friends and family and the whole idea of being separated from everything I loved was weighing on me. Being a traveling salesman it seems the only stability in life is instability. I wanted to turn off my mind and focus on how incredible my life truly was, I didn't want to wallow in the shallow pool of self-pity so I began to write, I mean after all I was in the UK, exploring places people only dream about.

I think of all the lyrics on this record these came out the most concise and introspective. Since I did write it in the UK I think I was influenced by the surrounding sounds doves, radiohead, travis, etc. It was the first song I had written for the record and feel it's the foundational piece that all the other songs were tailored to.

Lyrical intentions: 'I've been waiting for all my life for a drug called peace of mind', but I don't think that I am any closer to finding it then when I first started out. Perhaps part of me never wants to find it, the uncertainty of it all is intoxicating, it makes for an exciting yet erratic tomorrow.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!

Video Of Private KISS Show Posted Online
(hennemusic) KISS and Motley Crue kicked off their summer co-headlining tour of North America recently in Virginia. At the tour's third date, in Raleigh, NC, KISS changed their daily schedule to accommodate the staging issues by skipping soundcheck to allow the road crew sufficient time to prepare the event; instead, the band played a private set during the pre-show meet & greet.

The reaction from the fans, crew and the band themselves was so positive that this experience has been made a permanent part of the Meet & Greet for the summer tour. KISS will perform a "private" set each evening for fans instead of a soundcheck, and they did it again on Friday in West Palm Beach, Florida before their show at the Cruzan Amphitheatre.

KISS rocked a five-song set, including "Calling Dr. Love," "Hard Luck Woman," "Goin' Blind," "Hotter Than Hell" and "Nothin' To Lose." Watch it here.
