Led Zeppelin Reunion For Thanksgiving?
(hennemusic) Rumors continue regarding the anticipated announcement expected later this week by Led Zeppelin. All signs point to the band revealing plans to release their December 2007 show at London's O2 Arena this fall.

Now, UK tabloid The Sun reports that a source has revealed some inside news, including the planned release date. "Jimmy [Page] has been in the studio making sure everything is perfect," a source tells The Sun. "The band want it to remain true to their exceptionally high standards. It's coming out on November 22 as part of a simultaneous global release."

The unnamed source's November 22nd release date would be unusual for a new entertainment product since it's a Thursday music is traditionally released on Mondays in Europe and Tuesdays in North America so if the rumor is correct, it suggests that Zeppelin would issue their new package on a single, stand-alone date which coincides with the U.S. Thanksgiving Day holiday. more on this story

Bolfrass says he wrote a "cinematic science-fiction rock opera" called Exogenesis. Its subject was the demise of planet Earth and the resulting spread of the human race through space as they seek new homes. more on this story

Judas Priest May Go After The Gap
(Classic Rock) Rob Halford and Judas Priest may go after a clothing store chain for illegally using the cover design for their classic album Screaming For Vengeance.

Gap were last month in the spotlight after Priest fans noticed a t-shirt design bore more than a passing resemblance to the metal eagle graphic on the 1983 record.

"It's very naughty of them. They shouldn't have done that and we're investigating that right now, because that's intellectual property rights. We were never asked, neither was our label," Halford tells The Quietus. "Having said that it's brilliant, isn't it? To think that something 30 years later is still striking enough to be a fashion moment." more on this story

Mike Peters Hoax Story Made Into Movie
(Classic Rock) Mike Peters hoax movie Vinyl has been inspired by how he took revenge on the music industry after struggling to re-enter the business.

In 2004 the Alarm and now Big Country frontman struggled to gain attention from the mainstream media, who weren't interested in "ageing rockers." So he had Welsh outfit the Wayriders mime to his track 45RPM and called the band 'The Poppy Fields.' The result was UK chart success leading to the inevitable discovery of the truth.

The hoax has inspired Vinyl, featuring Quadrophenia star Phil Daniels alongside Robin Hood actor Keith Allen. It also includes rising star Jamie Blackley. Read more and watch the promo clip here.

B Sides

Singled Out: Hoobastank
Today Hoobastank frontman Doug Robb tells us about the song "This Is Gonna Hurt" from their brand new album "Fight or Flight," which was released today. Here is the story:

I remember listening to the music for THIS IS GONNA HURT while sitting in my car with Jesse. He had written the music and I had come up with some melodic ideas and the phrase "this is gonna hurt". Each time the phrase was sung it revealed something different.

"This is gonna hurt. This is gonna hurt ME. This is gonna hurt ME....more than it hurts YOU." That's how it originally was written out. The song kind of stayed in "limbo" lyrically for a while because I couldn't find an emotional anchor to ground the song. Later that year we were in Bali, Indonesia playing an acoustic show. We were exhausted from constant travel and continuous shows. During soundcheck our frustrations came to a boil and we had a pretty epic band fight. It wasn't our first and I'm sure it won't be our last. It's just what happens sometimes. After the fight I remember sitting in my hotel room thinking about how difficult it would be for myself or any band member to walk away from Hoobastank. We are truly a family and for as much as it would hurt whoever was left behind, it would hurt even more for the one who left. I finally had a lyrical emotional starting point for THIS IS GONNA HURT and I finished the song that night in Bali.

Obviously we all talked it out and everything was fine. During the recording of the song the lyrics got switched a little to make the song a little more "scathing" and a little less "sensitive". Also more to reflect a relationship between two people rather than a band. The finished product is, "This is gonna hurt. This is gonna hurt you. This is gonna hurt you more than it hurts me. And I don't want to hurt. That's why I'm going to hurt you. That's why I'm going to hurt you. That's how it's going to be!". Unapologetic and to the point.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!

"The Dyin' breed part is because all southern rock and roll and musicians, there's only a few bands left nowadays from all that," says Rossington. "There used to be really a whole lot of them and it's kind of a dying breed because it's more pop stars and rap." Watch it here.
