Johnny Marr Streaming Solo Song Online |
"The underlying idea of the record is my experience of living in Britain," Marr states. "When you're away from your home city you're more compelled to write about it. Growing up in the city influences you, and as I've grown older I've continued to see beauty, energy and stories in it." Marr had previously resided in Portland, Oregon, only to return to the UK to write the new album, which was also produced at the legendary Abbey Road studios.
"The 12-song set captures Marr's musical vision exactly as he imagined, featuring his signature guitar and vocals front and center on a sound which mixes elements of angular art rock, indie and rock n' roll," states a press release regarding the new album. "Upstarts" is just that.

"Jon is a bro and he's also a total f**king ripper," said guitarist Scott Ian. "I've worked with him twice before on side projects and he tears it up. I'm excited to have him on my right burning up the stage with Anthrax. 13's gonna be a good year."
"I grew up on Anthrax, they're the thrash scene, they're one of The Big Four, I'd be crazy to not want to play with them," said Donais. "Initially, Rob called and told me he was leaving the band, and asked if I'd be interested in filling in. Then Scott called me and everything fell into place. Rob and I are using Skype to work on solos and other guitar parts, so he's being great. I also have to give special thanks to my band - Brian, Matt, Jason and Ed - who have been incredibly supportive and encouraged me to do this."

Singled Out: Manafest |
I wrote the verses to Fighter in my basement thinking about my dad and the things I'd gone through. I remember being very passionate about them with each line is write tearing up.
Two verses were written and then I didn't come back to them until months later when I was in New Zealand on tour. In my hotel room right after checking in I recorded a chorus idea "I'm a fighter". I immediately emailed that idea to my producer Seth. I then recalled the verses I had write and thought they would fit the song.
I actually cut back part of the verses to fit in the pre chorus "down and out I start to doubt I hit the ground I'm bruised but I won't break.
This song impacted my label team in Japan and they thought about the earthquake and we came up with the idea to record it in Japanese. We called the song Kimi-Wa Fighter which means "Your a Fighter" encouraging Japan not to quit since the earthquake.
I'm stoked to see this song touch so many people.
