Puddle of Mudd Singer Arrested For Domestic Violence
Puddle of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin was arrested in Los Angeles on Monday afternoon on domestic violence charges, according to gossip site TMZ.

The site reports that Scantlin allegedly "roughed up his ex-wife in front of several witnesses," and that police told them that they were called out to a business in West Hollywood around 3:30 pm Monday to investigate a report that the singer shook his ex-wife and then tried to drag her by the arm or the shirt.

The deputies reportedly spoke with witnesses and the victim and then decided to arrest Scantlin for domestic violence and he was reportedly extremely uncooperative during the arrest.

One source told the site that Scantlin "was very mouthy." Read more about this arrest and another arrest from earlier this month here.

Linkin Park To Headline U.S. Music Festival
Earlier this year Linkin Park played what they billed as their "only" U.S. show this year but the group has been offered a new headline opportunity they just couldn't pass up.

Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda announced on Monday that the group has signed on to headline this summer installment of the Sunset Strip Music Festival in Hollywood, Ca.

Linkin Park will be in good company as previous years of the annual festival has featured headline sets from The Doors, Motley Crue, Slash and Ozzy Osbourne.

Shinoda had this to say about the gig, "We played our first shows as a band in 1998, on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. When we were approached about an opportunity to play a special show on the strip, we couldn't say no.

"We are excited to announce that we'll be headlining the Sunset Strip Music Festival in West Hollywood, CA on August 3. This time we mean it this will be the ONLY U.S. show for the rest of 2013."

Judas Priest Share New Album Details
(hennemusic) Judas Priest are in the process of launching their new live DVD, "Epitaph," due later this month, but Rob Halford and Richie Faulkner are already sharing an update on their next studio album.

"It's coming along really well," guitarist Richie Faulkner tells Rolling Stone. "We're not saying too much about it at the moment it's kind of early to say. But it's shaping up really well. The great thing from a writing point of view is that Priest's brand of music is so broad, there's a lot to take from. One extreme from the other. You can put stuff on the table and nothing is discounted. You might get some bands that are like, 'Oh, we can't do that, it sounds a bit like this or that.' With Priest, you can put anything on the table and you've got the flexibility from the scope of the sound, creatively. And then you've got people like Halford and Glenn, they put their stamp on it. Songs like 'Green Manalishi' and 'Diamonds And Rust' when a band like Priest, with that sort of musical voice gets on something, it becomes a whole different monster. And the same thing with the new stuff. So it's exciting. And from my point of view, to be a part of that is ridiculous. It's fantastic."

Vocalist Rob Halford was asked about the timeline for the new record. "Ready when it's ready. No rush," he says. "We don't want to drop the ball we've never dropped the ball, anyway. We're certainly not in a 'luxury moment.' When you think about it, any band that was in the Eighties that was having success, you were literally making a record a year. The demand was so strong . . . I mean, in those days, you were popping out platinum albums all the time. To get remotely close to gold in today's world is a massive achievement. It's a different world altogether.

"We've never slacked off we've always enjoyed writing, we've always enjoyed being in the studio. There's never been like, 'Oh, God, we've got to make another record.' There's always been this genuine desire. The hunger has never left us. When you wake up, it's like, 'Another heavy metal day. What are we going to do today?' It's great.

"As a 62-year-old man, I'm just really pleased that I'm still feeling that way about my metal. I'm a metal head I'm sixty-f**king-two, it's incredible. That side of Priest is just solid as ever. We're eager to keep going down the metal coalmine and seeing if we can hack up some diamonds." more on this story

Thirty Seconds To Mars Discuss Their Love Lust Faith + Dreams
(Radio.com) As Thirty Seconds To Mars gear up for the May 21st release of their fourth album, Love Lust Faith + Dreams, they sat down with Radio.com to explain why the release marks their new beginning.

The rockers chatted about the meaning behind the record's four-word title, why they chose "Up In The Air" as the first single and the famous artist who loaned them his painting for the album's cover.

Every word in the title of the band's new album is mentioned throughout each of its 12 songs. In the case of the band's first single, "Up In The Air," two of the words were used: love and lust. In a statement, frontman Jared Leto said their newest song "The Race," is a song "about the madness of love + life, the insanity of dreams, and about how at times prey can become the predator."

But as for why they picked these four words in particular, Leto told us, "[they] really sum up the record in a really pointed way. It's a new beginning for us. It's an entirely new chapter of our lives." Check out the full interview here.

Ginger Baker Took A Detour To Rock Stardom
(Classic Rock) Cream icon Ginger Baker didn't want to be a drummer when he was young he wanted to be a professional cyclist. But when he crashed and wrecked his bike, his need for a job led him to music. And he got his first paid gig with a modified toy drumkit.

Baker tells the Calgary Herald: "I was obsessed with the idea of being a cyclist when I was a kid, and I rode everywhere. One day I had a smash-up and the bike was a write-off.

"I had to earn some money, and this mate of mine said, 'Why don't you play drums?' It's funny they all knew I was a drummer, and I didn't. I was always beating rhythms when I went to jazz gigs, which I did a lot. Anyway, I went along, they sat me down at the kit, and I just did it."

He remembers his mum wouldn't buy him any drums, so he was forced to improvise when he went for an audition. "I bought a toy drum kit and sort of worked on it," he explains. "I cut up my tent to put a front head on the bass drum, added a biscuit tin to one of the tom-toms, and took this kit with me to Leytonstone, and got the gig. more on this story

Rock on the Range 2013 Preview
(Gibson) Festival season is officially here, and Rock on the Range is quickly becoming one of the country's biggest events to feature heavy music each year. The annual music festival takes place May 17-19 at Columbus Crew Stadium and, per usual, offers a hard-hitting mix of metal and modern rock sounds. So, what acts are invading Rock on the Range this year? Check out Gibson.com's preview piece, featuring a few highlights below.

Korn, Love and Death May 17: The metal world pretty much freaked when they heard the news that former Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch, who left the band years ago after getting sober and finding Christianity, would be back to perform with the band at Rock on the Range 2013. Now, Welch has a whole tour lined up with Korn, but the excitement to see the band together again at Rock on the Range is still strong. Welch's other band, Christian hard rockers Love and Death, are also scheduled to play the festival.

Smashing Pumpkins May 18: Best known for psychedelic '90s nuggets such as "Tonight, Tonight" and "1979," the Pumpkins are currently on the road in support of their latest full-length, Oceania. Expect to hear plenty of new material and the band's signature dream pop, shoegaze sound.

Corgan recently chatted with Gibson.com about how the band has evolved over the years. "I think maybe the values that the band represents are like a fine wine: They've gotten better over time," Corgan said. "There were a lot of value systems that were around the band where people pretended they were cooler or more indie, and those have kind of fallen by the wayside. I think that being musical and the integrity of having your own musical language is more important over time than whether somebody likes you or whether you're popular."

Stone Sour May 18: Corey Taylor and Stone Sour arrive at Rock on the Range with not one, but two new albums: House of Gold & Bones Part I and Part II. The albums make up a double concept release of sorts, and Taylor recently spoke with Gibson.com about the idea behind releasing the double set.

"We knew we wanted to do a double album, and more we talked about it, it became apparent we wanted to release it as two separate albums rather than one big package, both for creative reasons and pragmatic reasons," Corey said. "Creatively, we could do different things with packaging and crate excitement for Part 2, almost like a sequel to a movie. We knew could do cool things and, by word of mouth, drive what was going on. Pragmatically, double albums are really expensive, and in this day and age when most people don't even like to buy CDs, we wanted to make sure our fans had the incentive to buy them. Instead of charging something 30 bucks, we decided to split it up and make it more affordable for people." more on this story

Drought Release Last Words Video
Drought have released a new music video for their song "Last Words," which comes from the band's debut full length album, "Untapped."

Classic Rock had this to say about the band and the clip, after a cursory listen you might be tempted to dismiss these Texans as Nickelback or Shinedown clones but closer inspection reveals a serious depth to their songs.

Like many bands from the Lone Star state, Drought's music also has an arcane quality that makes them much more than just another bunch of slick, semi-obnoxious US radio rockers
