"I really wanted to perform [the classic Russ Ballard song] 'New York Groove' [which appeared on Frehley's 1978 solo album]," Ace revealed on Tuesday's edition of a "The Artie Lange Show".
"Here we are in New York, it was my big hit, and the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame said, 'No, you can't do 'New York Groove'," said during the appearance on the SiriusXM satellite radio show.

The group released a trailer and rehearsal video yesterday (April 9) via X-Games and Southern California clothing retailer Tilly's YouTube channel's channels, oddly filed under "Comedy." Today, the band made their first single, titled "4AM", available on iTunes.
Guitarist Rodriguez-Lopez and vocalist Bixler-Zavala have had an on-again, off-again relationship since forming At the Drive-In 1993. After briefly reuniting as the band at Coachella and Lollapalooza in 2012, little was known about the duo's future together.
According to a tweet from Flea this morning, he recorded several tracks with the group. It's not the first time he's had some sort of connection with Rodriguez-Lopez and Bixler-Zavala; he played bass on the Mars Volta's 2003 debut De-Loused in the Comatorium and contributed trumpet to that album's followup, Frances the Mute.
Flea tweeted "Woke to find out I'm in a new supergroup. Hahahaha. Played on some tracks a few weeks ago with my friends omar and Cedric for love that all".

"I'm not gonna get into the politics or all that stuff, but I got two words to say: 'Deep Purple,'" he tells Rolling Stone. "That's all I have to say: Deep Purple. Seriously, people, 'Deep Purple,' two simple words in the English language.
"But definitely, Nirvana is a no-brainer for the first year and I'm glad that Kiss is getting the long-overdue recognition that they deserved for everything that they pioneered, and then I got two words, 'Deep Purple!' Did I say that already?"
Deep Purple have been eligible for the Rock Hall since 1993; to date, they've been nominated twice for induction - in 2013 and 2014. Ulrich and Metallica entered the Rock Hall 2009, the second year they were eligible and first year they were nominated.

The pair were introduced by Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, who appeared as guests on the program the night before their induction into the 2014 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
"Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" was the first single from Nicks' 1981 debut solo album, "Bella Donna." The track was originally written Petty and guitarist Mike Campbell as a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers song, but producer Jimmy Iovine - who was also working for Nicks at the time - arranged for her to sing on it.

"What Duff does is what Duff does. It doesn't really concern me," Slash tells Team Rock. "Duff's relationship with Axl [Rose] is different to mine. That call to me is just not going to happen."
"I don't judge Duff," added the guitarist. "He's cool. He just has a way more amicable, neutral relationship with Axl than I do." McKagan rejoined GNR as a fill-in for Tommy Stinson, who has obligations to play previously scheduled dates with The Replacements this month.

He writes, "There has been a lot of speculation regarding the recent announcement of my involvement with From First To Last. I would like to make it clear that I wanted to join them in creating an EP for fun.
"I met the guys at Taylor Larson's studio while recording personal music around the same time the band was in the studio. We got along really well and decided it would be fun to work on something together, which lead to me doing vocals on their EP. I'm really honored to work with From First To Last and be a part of this EP as something I'm doing on the side while Periphery is writing.
"However this, in no way, affects my commitment and position in Periphery or any of our new material. Periphery has and will always be my main focus. I'm really excited to have this time and make music with Periphery and From First To Last. Thanks to everyone who has showed me their support. Love you guys!"
According to the band, the new animated lyric video for Midnight Oil," was created by Nev Todoroic who spearheads the interactive media production company The Young Astronauts.
Apart from Hughes and Bonham, the group also features 23-year-old guitarist Andrew Watt who had the following to say about the video, "We wanted a lyric video that would make people want to watch this song in addition to just listen to it, one that would highlight the bombastic grooves of the track and convey the rhythm of the message. I turned to my friends, the Young Astronauts, whose previous videos have hundreds of millions of views, but they don't work with a lot of rock bands and I thought THAT'S the magic, right there."
Hughes adds, "It's a refreshing animated video that really captures the lyrical concert and message of the Midnight Oil single. We didn't want to make a run-of-the-mill lyric video. The animation perfectly captures the raw energy, lyrical content and the message of what Midnight Oil is really all about... rock n roll!!"
The band will be releasing their self-titled debut album on May 19th in North America and the UK and on May 16th in Europe. Check out the video

According to Daniels, the book takes an in depth at the band's history from their formation through their first two studio albums, "Iron Maiden" and "Killers" featuring Paul Di'Anno on lead vocals and the first two albums featuring Bruce Dickinson on lead vocals, "Number of the Beast" and "Piece of Mind."
Daniels says that he wanted "to give a balanced and objective view on the first eight years. Two albums with one singer (Paul Di'Anno), two with the other (Bruce Dickinson)".
While researching for the book, Daniels spoke to many people that have been associated with the band including former members Dennis Stratton and Tony Moore, as well as fan club chief Keith Wilfort.
According to Amazon, the book also includes a foreword by current Guns N' Roses guitarist Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal and an afterword from former Judas Priest frontman Tim 'Ripper' Owens.
This isn't the first time that Daniels has published a book at Iron Maiden. In 2012 Voyageur Press released his acclaimed illustrated coffee table style hard cover "Iron Maiden: The Ultimate Unauthorized History Of The Beast".

For the new video, Kip Winger and the band recruited Jason Green and Dan Hubp to the direct the clip. Their history with the band goes way back as they designed the first Winger album cover and logo.
"Tin Soldier" showcases Winger's progressive rock side with three different time signatures and Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess had this to say about frontman the band's prog credentials, "I remember when I saw the first Winger video many years ago. I was struck by the high level of musicality within the whole band and total charisma of Kip Winger.
"Years later now moving to the present, I can still feel the magic and the power of this group. I've had the amazing fortune to work with Rod Morgenstein, who is one of the greatest drummers on the planet. He can play anything from solid rock to the craziest prog I can think of.
"I've also worked with Kip. His amazing voice and musicianship shine through anything he touches, whether it's singing Rudess, Gentle Giant or ELP songs on my albums, creating rich original orchestral music in his own compositions or leading his band Winger, to this day in driving, sonically satisfying rock gems. These guys are not only my friends and cohorts but also my musical heroes. Rock on Winger. Check out the album!"
The "Tin Soldier" video follows the release of videos for "Rat Race" and "Midnight Driver of a Love Machine" from the new album, which is set to be released on April 22nd in North America.

In addition to the set times, a handful of new acts have been added to the bill. The Pixies, Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas and electronic music producer Nicolas Jaar (already scheduled to be at Coachella as one half of Darkside) are now on the massive list of artists set to perform over the three-day festival.
This latest round of Coachella information followed the release earlier in the day of this year's festival map, which now finds the popular DoLab dance area moved from its usual location in the center of the festival grounds to an area adjacent to the EDM-powered Sahara Tent.

The Doors fans will find a new Record Store Day exclusive in Weird Scenes Inside the Goldmine, a reissue of the 1972 Elektra Records release on amber vinyl. This was the second compilation from the Doors and the first release following the death of Jim Morrison.
Weird Scenes Inside the Goldmine features the first album release of two B-sides: Willie Dixon's "(You Need Meat) Don't Go No Further," performed by Ray Manzarek, which originally appeared on the flip side of the 1971 45 "Love Her Madly," and "Who Scared You," which was the "Wishful Sinful" flip with Jim Morrison on vocals from a 1969 session.

AEGEA will be released via just 250 vinyl copies initially, with each disc annotated and hand-numbered by Corgan himself. They're set to retail for $60.
"As a work, AEGEA is experimental in nature, and comes across as more a soundtrack to some lost foreign film than the kind of music I'm usually associated with," Corgan related in a post on his website. "Listening back I quite like how AEGEA goes along, as it has qualities that are both meditative and alien; but not alienating."

The Sacramento rockers hit the studio in early February to work on the project. "I must say that this new Tesla album is really gonna be awesome," guitarist Frank Hannon posted last month during the sessions. "We went in more prepared with the songs and ideas way more than Forevermore, and the style is pure Tesla back to our roots. the band is working and producing it as we did Into The Now..with help from the legendary Tom Zutaut who helped us make our best albums..the title of the new album is gonna be "Simplicity" and I truly believe you guys are gonna love it!"
"The opening track is called MP3," the guitarist continued, "and starts off with an opus intro that orchestrates into a heavy slow groove with lyrics about technology and how we miss simplicity, vinyl albums, family values...and has a heavy ass riff! Then we segue into a rock n roll song called Ricochet that talks about uncle Ted...can't wait to play this stuff live!"

The band will launch a European summer tour in Helsinki, Finland on May 28. In other Metallica news, guitarist James Hetfield's scratch-built car, Black Pearl, recently won Goodguys' 2014 Mother's Custom Of The Year award during the Goodguys 32nd annual All American Get-Together, which was held March 29-30 in Pleasanton, California.
Black Pearl features a sculpted, handmade aluminum body inspired by the tear drop contours and seamless body transitions of coach built European and American cars of the 1930s; it rests on a custom built chassis which utilizes the outer frame rails of a 1948 Jaguar.
Southern California's Marcel and Luc De Lay, two of the top coach builders in the world, handled the chores of forming, shaping and building the body. "As an artist myself, I see the passion, dedication and perfectionism it takes to be good at your craft," says Hetfield of the De Lay's work. "I am humbled by their gift of metal sculpting. The fact that they started with a 810 drawing and ended up with a complete car is a testament to the ability of the human mind and hands. It still blows people's minds when they ask what body we started with and we say 'steel sheets.'"
