The band's biggest hit "Your Love" hit no. 6 on the singles chart and helped propel their debut album, "Play Deep," to multi-platinum sales status in the U.S. The band's latest album was 2011's "Replay."
The band broke the sad news to fans with the following Facebook post: "It is with great sadness to inform you that John passed away at 09.55 on Wednesday 9th July 2014. He was 60 years old. As many of you know, he had been suffering from liver cancer for many years and bravely fought the disease until the very end. We are relieved that his passing was peaceful and painless.
"John was a loving husband, inspirational father, doting grandfather and gifted songwriter. His musical career started from a very young age and he wanted more than anything for people to listen and enjoy his music. He passed away knowing he achieved his ambition.
"If it were possible, we know John would have liked to have thanked each and every fan of The Outfield personally. He admired and respected the emails from thousands of loyal followers who commented on his music and enquired about his health. This alone, gave him motivation to battle through the sometimes dark days.
"We would like to thank you for 'Your Love' and the continued support you have given John throughout his career. He loved making music and playing his guitar. He found pleasure knowing that his music made people happy and bought them fond memories. He worked hard with many days in pain to finish the Replay album. There were times when he could barely pick up his guitar, but he refused to give up knowing he would disappoint fans. The hardest day for John was when he put his guitar in its case announcing his hands could no longer play.
"During the last months of his life, John, Tony and Alan wrote new material. What the future holds for this is unclear at the time of this writing.
"There is so much more we could say, but for now, we would like to grieve the loss of John.
"God bless you all.

"Stevie, Malcolm's nephew, was magnificent, but when you're recording with this thing hanging over you and your work mate isn't well, it's difficult," Johnson said. "But I'm sure he was rooting for us. He's such a strong man. He's a small guy but he's very strong. He's proud and he's very private so we can't say too much. But fingers crossed he'll be back."
Johnson also noted that Young was still in the hospital at the time of the interview, posted yesterday (July 9). It's still unclear what illness is currently ailing the band's rhythm guitarist.

A 10-minute, 15-second film with no dialogue, it stars Springsteen as a man wandering through the countryside and is reminiscent of scenes from The Book of Eli or the film adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's The Road.
During the film's intro (about five-and-a-half minutes), his character flashes back to his past life with a family - who we don't see him with through its duration. Soon a young boy leads him to a farm where he lives with a community of people, recalling the community that Tom Joad met under the bridge in Grapes of Wrath.
The community welcome Bruce('s character). The film time shifts a lot, but it seems that he decides not to stay, and then moves on, a solitary man. Springsteen has yet to do any interviews explaining the film.

In a YouTube clip released this week (July 8), the band lets the world know that on Sept. 30, 2014, they'll be hearing new music from the band. The video is titled "Return To Ithaca" and gritty guitar and striking piano is heard in the background as well as snippets of some of the music off the record.
In an interview with EW.com, the band offered a telling description of the new album. "If you took the Pinkerton band and then play all the other records - that's what we sound like now," drummer Patrick "Frisbee Wizard" Wilson said. "Bombastic, loose, kind of booming. This record sounds like it's going to have the tight structure of Blue Album with a little bit more abandon like Pinkerton."

The band did not give a specific reason for the cancelation. Here is what they had to say, "We regret to inform our fans that due to unforeseen circumstances that are beyond our control, Cattle Decapitation will not be performing upcoming dates in Europe which included several festivals.
"We were looking very forward to touring with Possessed as well as performing at all of the festivals to see our fans so this is very disappointing to us. We would like to thank everyone for their hard work, and understanding during this time. We will see you next year!"
The degree recognizes the significant contribution Johnson has made to the music industry as lead singer of one of the world's most successful rock bands for the past three decades.
"When I first heard about this great honor, I was humbled especially since it's from my hometown university," said Johnson. "I was an engineering student myself here a long time ago."
The rocker was born along the river from the University at Dunston and performed with a series of bands before finding Top 20 success with Geordie during the Glam Rock era of the 1970s.

"Thank you to @TheBridgeFX for having us on set today," tweeted Janie. "Arrested by Mexican police and escorted to jail." The couple shared the images of Eddie being handcuffed and ready to be put in the back of a police car, and another of the two sitting in a jail cell.
There's no further details regarding the visit, so it's unknown if Eddie may have a guest appearance coming up on the program, or if actress and stuntwoman Janie is actively involved in the production, or if either or both simply have friends involved in the series.

"When we heard about Cooper's life-long love of our hot and tasty sandwiches, we knew he had to be a part of the Cravers Hall of Fame," Jami Richardson, corporate vp of White Castle, said of the rocker's induction into its delectable ranks. "He is a legend in the rock 'n' roll world, and now he is a legend at White Castle."
"It's probably one of the most all-American things that there is, White Castles," Cooper added to reporters in attendance. "So I feel like it's the one product that hasn't changed over all the years. Everything tastes differently now. But White Castle tastes exactly the same."
Columbus, Ohio's Dispatch reported that Cooper visited the White Castle headquarters for his induction - and even did a rendition of "No More Mr. Nice Guy" for the attendees.

Maxwell tells Loudwire: "They just pretty much had a lot of other stuff going on in their life that just took the focus of the band away, and for us to continue, we had to part ways with them.
"It was a toxic situation that almost broke the band up. They just couldn't get it together and it was a very painful time for us, it was very emotional, but I think with the love we have for each other and the band, we needed to kind of do the worst case scenario and part ways with them."

You might think, "those nice metal kids are having a wholesome time up at San Manuel Amphitheater from October 26-28." And then you see what Knotfest is really about. From the Knotfest website, the attractions include:
Fire Area/Thunderdome - two men enter, one man leaves. Thunderdome is an actual Thunderdome where people will fight until one man gives up. The fire area comes "straight from the bowels of hell" and is a performance exhibit with, you guessed it, tons of things on fire. These attractions will be kept open all day and night.
Costumed Performance Artists - 30+ costumed pagan performers roam around festival adorned as different creatures with fire-walkers, fire-breathers and sword-swallowers all joining in the fun.
Zipline - This will cost extra, but it has never been done at an American festival.
Ring of Fire Carnival Ride - We have no idea what this is. Surely something about clowns and terror.
Scent of Knotfest - "Knotfest has it's own aroma that will infest your brain, body and clothes for days after the festival is over. Personally picked by Slipknot themselves, oil drums will be filled with camel s-t and oil, set aflame to last the entire festival."
Goat Petting Zoo - "Goats will freely graze in the heavy-petting zoo where Knotfest attendees can get close to their horned spirit animals."
Also included will be Junk Car Drum Circle, Tattoos, "Flaming Carnival Games," and a Slipknot museum.

The song Rubber Sternum was one of the more artistic endeavors on the record. The end of the track especially, allowed us all to experiment with texture and unique tones that we hadn't utilized elsewhere on the album. We layered about 6 guitar tracks, multiple saxophone tracks, a music box, Rhodes, and Jason (Drums) even recorded himself dropping loose screws onto a bigger pile of screws for added texture.
Lyrically this song follows a similar stream of consciousness approach as the music. I was thinking a lot about anxiety, and things in my life that have held me back from experiencing things. Fear of failure basically. As we were writing this song, a friend sent me a Miles Davis quote, "Do not fear mistakes, there are none". This really hit home and got me thinking of how all of your failures and mistakes are only a part of who you are, and instead of fearing them, they should be embraced. I would think about taking in all of the good and the bad that makes me up, and get this vision of breathing deep and the physical feeling of my chest expanding to take in the air. This is where the track's title comes from, "Can we be without flaws? Never to find our greener hearts, wider ribs, rubber sternums".
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself here and learn more about the album
