The rumor was sparked in May by an online gossip website claiming that an unnamed source told them that Axl Rose was considering retirement following the band's recent Las Vegas residency.
Reed addressed the report during the interview. "You know, so much of that crap gets out there, you can't believe any of it," Reed told Billboard. "At this point, having been in the band for so long, nothing surprises me.
"When I hear things like that I immediately dismiss them until I hear further. I'm never really concerned enough to even ask where it came from, or why, because if it's that important I'll be getting a phone call."
Reed did confirm that the band is taking some time off following the recent end of their residency but vows that they will be back. "Guns are definitely taking some time off, but we'll see. I'm not sure if we're gonna be doing anything else this year. Hopefully we will, but definitely next year. We can't stay away too long."
As for new music, Axl Rose recently confirmed in an interview with Revolver Magazine that Guns N' Roses has a wealth of material. "We recorded a lot of things before 'Chinese' was out," Axl said. "We've worked more on some of those things and we've written a few new things. But basically, we have what I call kind of the second half of 'Chinese'. That's already recorded.
"And then we have a remix album made of the songs from 'Chinese'. That's been done for a while, too. But after Vegas, we're going to start looking very seriously at what we're doing in that regard."
Reed also talked about that material but also said that the band members have been working on additional material. "We've all been handing files back and forth to one another in various combinations," he said. Read the Billboard report for more details as well as for Reed's plans while GNR take a break

"Spending the week writing new #STP material here at HOMeFRY...," tweeted DeLeo, along with an image of the band in their practice room. "And having a blast..." read the follow-up tweet with more smiles from the group members.
Bennington was brought into the band after original frontman Scott Weiland was fired by Stone Temple Pilots in February of 2013, leading to a series of public statements and lawsuits by both parties.

Drummer Mikkey Dee tells TeamRock that he felt bad when heard about the 50-year-old German fan's medical complaint, but added that at least it confirmed Motorhead is the hardest rocking band in the world.
Dee says: "The first thing I thought was, 'Oh, no, poor guy.' Of course, we don't want anyone to get hurt at our shows. And it obviously had a happy ending I guess. They said, 'It's confirmed, Motorhead is the hardest-rocking band in the world'.
"I feel for the guy. I'm sorry for him that he ended up getting injured that bad from being at a Motorhead show. But I think we're gonna send him a hockey helmet and maybe a neck brace or something. He's gotta take it a little bit cooler."

"There will be a hearing on July 18th to determine if the time Lambesis spent on house arrest will count as credits towards his prison term," prosecutor Claudia Grasso stated in an email.
Tim Lambesis is expected to be in San Diego's North County Superior Courthouse at 9:30 a.m. next Friday, before the same judge who sentenced him to six years in prison, the Honorable Judge Carlos Armour.
Lambesis, 33, was in the midst of a bitter divorce battle with his wife of eight years when he agreed to pay $20,000 to an undercover officer to kill his wife.
The singer was taken into custody the same day as the sting operation, on May 7, 2013. He was in local jail for 24 days (and given credit at sentencing for 48) before he paid $160,000 in fees to the bondsman who posted his $2 million bail.
Lambesis was on house arrest at his parents' home in Del Mar, California, wearing a GPS monitor, from June 2013 until his sentencing in May 2014, when he was taken away in handcuffs.

There are few musicians who have penned as many anthemic rock tunes as Randy Bachman. Often referred to as the "architect of Canadian rock n' roll, Bachman's catalogue of hits include "American Woman," "These Eyes," "No Time," "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet," "Takin' Care of Business," and "Roll On Down the Highway." And now, Bachman himself offers thrilling in-concert renditions and earnest tales behind the creation of all of these classics (and many more), on 'Every Song Tells A Story.'
Recorded in April 2013, at Pantages Playhouse Theatre in Winnipeg, 'Every Song Tells A Story' features Bachman in a rare and intimate setting, weaving together the transcendent and iconic hits of the Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive with the often-humorous stories that originally brought the songs to life.
Inspired by his award-winning radio program 'Vinyl Tap,' Bachman takes his master storytelling and voluminous musical knowledge on the road and leads fans on a guided journey that encapsulates the last 30 years of popular music presented by one of the greatest rock legends of our time. In a new interview with Kerrang (via NME), Whibley talks about his support unit. "Now I'm sober, I don't get calls from certain people that I used to," he says. "Now I'm the bum-out to them. Who wants to invite the sober guy to the party? Y'know who has been incredibly supportive? Iggy Pop. He had a lot of great advice; he's been through it all. We've been friends for years."
"Same for Tommy Lee from Mtley Cre," Whibley says. "He told me what to expect from people, that not everyone will understand. Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum from Guns N' Roses have been great too. We go out for coffee and talk about sh*t."
