Exodus Fan Arrested For Posting Lyrics On Facebook

Thrash veterans Exodus are upset after they have learned that James Evans, a 31-year-old fan in Kentucky, had been arrested and jailed for eight days and is facing charges for alleged terroristic threats after he posted the lyrics to the band's song 'Class Dismissed' on Facebook.

The band says in a statement that while they do not "condone terrorists, threats or bullying" they are "baffled by the fact that this man being charged for what seems against his first amendment rights of Freedom of Speech."

Guitarist Gary Holt addresses the issue directly, "The idea that an individual in this great country of ours could be arrested for simply posting lyrics to a song is something I never believed could happen in a free society.

"James Evans was simply posting lyrics to a band he likes on Facebook, and he was locked up for it. The song 'Class Dismissed (A Hate Primer)' was written as a view through the eyes of a madman and in no way endorses that kind of f***ed up behavior.

"It was the Virginia Tech massacre perpetrated by Seung-Hui Cho that was the subject and inspiration to write the song, one in which we put the brakes on playing it live after the Sandy Hook shooting, as we did not want to seem insensitive.

"As some of us in Exodus are parents, of course these things hit close to home, it's every parent's worst fear. These moments are the stuff of nightmares, and life, as well as music, isn't always pretty. But when we start to overreact to things like lyrics by any band, including Exodus, and start arresting people, we are caving in to paranoia and are well on our way to becoming an Orwellian society."

The local NBC affiliate reports that Evans was released from jail on Wednesday afternoon after eight days in jail and they report that he says that he has been told that "his case will be deferred for six months and he will have to undergo a mental evaluation."

Evans told 14News, "It's nonsense. I feel like my civil rights have been violated. You know first amendment freedom of speech out the window.

"Even all the guys I was in the cell with they thought it was nonsense themselves. I had several officials tell me it was nonsense that there was no reason why I should have even been here,"

You can see a original 14news report about the arrest here.

Led Zeppelin Premiere New Version Of Black Dog

(hennemusic) Led Zeppelin are premiering an unreleased version of "Black Dog" as a preview of the upcoming expanded reissue of their 1971 release, "Led Zeppelin IV", due on October 28.

"'Black Dog' is obviously one of the songs that Led Zeppelin is really noted for," guitarst Jimmy Page tells Rolling Stone. "It's one of the powerhouse numbers that we did with an incredible riff. The version on the companion disc is a rough mix in its early stage with minimal guitar overdubs and Robert's original vocal. And you can hear how mean it is."

Released in November 1971, the album - which is officially untitled - defined the sound of rock music for a generation with ubiquitous anthems such as "Stairway To Heaven", "Rock And Roll", "Black Dog" and "When The Levee Breaks". The album was inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame in 1999, has been certified 23x platinum by the RIAA. here.

Chimaira Break Up

Chimaira have officially broken up after the lineup of the band imploded over this past week with only frontman Mark Hunter remaining in the group after a mass exodus.

The breakup began with guitarist Emil Werstler announcing on Monday (September 1st) that it was necessary for him to leave the group "in order to take the next step in [his] career."

On Tuesday, the remaining members of the group, Matt Szlachta, Sean Zatorsky, Jeremy Creamer and Austin D'Amond, issued the following statement to Theprp.com, "In light of recent news, the rest of the band have decided to part ways with Chimaira. For us this was a great stepping stone, and an honor to play these songs live, and fulfill an incredible legacy.

"This was an an excellent platform to help continue playing music, when our collective bands either ended or went on a hiatus. Chimaira was an amazing experience and we look forward to future music endeavors with each other."

And it ended with Hunter pulling the plug on the band. The group's official site had this statement, "After fifteen full blown ass ripping years, it is with great honor to announce the end of Chimaira. Thanks to everyone that supported the group in any way shape or form. Everyone involved with the band from members to fans put their heart and soul into this project. We achieved a lot. We bled a lot. It f***ing ruled."

Kate Bush's 200-Year-Old Home In Danger Of Falling Into The Sea

(Classic Rock) Kate Bush has been warned her Devon home is at risk from collapsing into the sea. The singer has been celebrating extraordinary chart success on the back of her 22 sold-out shows at London's Eventim Apollo, which saw her become the first female artist to have eight albums in the top 40 simultaneously.

Now she faces a battle to save her 200-year-old home, which she bought in 2005 for a reported 2.5m. Last year, a huge landslide caused a section of the area close the singers's home to collapse and officials have now warned fellow Kingsbridge residents that unless costly re-enforcements are put in place, the area could be under threat again.

Steve Gardner of Devon County Council tells the Exeter Express: "If you live there, you can either accept it and let your house fall into the sea, or you can take action to prevent further damage - although it can cost hundreds of thousands of pounds."

Richie Kotzen Surprised With The Winery Dogs Success

(Classic Rock) Richie Kotzen says the success of The Winery Dogs came as a big surprise to him. The singer and guitarist admits he expected the three-piece supergroup - which he formed with Mike Portnoy and Billy Sheehan - to be a side-project, but he has been amazed at how it has taken off.

Kotzen tells Icon Vs Icon: "When we got together, in my mind I was thinking it would be a cool diversion from what I have been doing lately. I thought perhaps we will make a cool record. Perhaps we will do a handful of key market shows in Tokyo, New York, Los Angeles and London and that would be the end of it.

"I thought I would go back to what I was doing and a few years later we would reconvene and do something else. I remember we were making a connection from Japan to somewhere in Latin America and when we got off the plane there was an email from our manager that said our record just charted on the Top 200 at No.27. All of us were blown away. None of us expected that.

"Apparently, there was an iTunes Rock Chart where The Rolling Stones were at No.1 and we were at No.2. Needless to say, we were all shocked and surprised by this." more.

Aerosmith Star Says Band Needs A Unified Concept For Next Album

(Classic Rock) Aerosmith's Tom Hamilton says the band need to agree on what kind of sound they hope to achieve before they can work on any new material. The bassist is confident the veteran rockers will release a follow-up to 2012's Music From Another Dimension, but insists they need to be unified in their musical direction.

He tells the Detroit Free Press: "I think the band needs to have a unified concept of what Aerosmith is to our fans. Without trying to pander and do market research, we need to get closer to understanding our history and the band that the world wants Aerosmith to be.

"I think it's a combination of the stuff we did in the 70s when we really started learning the studio, like the Toys In The Attic album and the Rocks album, and then some from the later era of the band, when we did Pump and Permanent Vacation. I think those albums describe what this band is about musically."

The disappointing response to Music From Another Dimension led drummer Joey Kramer to question whether it was worth recording a follow-up, but Hamilton says a good producer and a united front would help. Read what he had to say here.

U2's New Album Will Not Help Launch iPhone 6

(Radio.com) U2 is denying reports that the new iPhone 6 launch will feature the band in a pivotal role. Rumors surrounding the band included the phone being pre-loaded with their upcoming 13th album or that the band would be performing at the gadgets launch party, according to Business Insider.

"They are not releasing their album on the iPhone, and they are not performing at the iPhone launch," a spokesperson for the Irish band said in a statement.

These rumors seem to have begun at, appropriately, Macrumors, where one Stephen Browne apparently stumbled upon a music video shoot for U2 (which included a director Mark Romanek sighting), with the music promoter claiming that the footage centered around a mobile device.

Jack White Performs Stripped-Down White Stripes Song

(Radio.com) Jack White doesn't revisit his White Stripes discography a crazy amount save for certain ones at concert performances, but the Nashville-via-Detroit artist made an exception recently while in France.

White resurrected one of his old songs for La Blogothque, appearing on the show to perform the White Stripes' 2001 White Blood Cells track, "The Same Boy You've Always Known," and a more recent song, "Entitlement," from his solo album Lazaretto, which came out earlier this year.

Performing alongside a cellist, banjo player and violinist in Paris' Chteau de Fontainebleau's Saint-Saturnin Chapel, White gives especially stripped down renditions of both songs, without using a microphone.

In the video, directed by Colin Solal Cardo, we also get a tour of the Chapel's gorgeous grounds as White meanders through them while playing his guitar.

Jack White is currently on tour in support of Lazaretto. Watch the video here.

Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor Inspired By Massage Parlor Music

(Radio.com) Ever wonder where Trent Reznor gets the inspiration for his collaborative scores with Atticus Ross for David Fincher's films? Like the one that won him an Academy Award for The Social Network?

In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, the Nine Inch Nails frontman spoke about his recent work with Ross on Fincher's upcoming film Gone Girl, and gave a strange and pretty awesome glimpse into his creative process.

According to Reznor, "[Fincher] said, 'Think about the really terrible music you hear in massage parlors. The way that it artificially tries to make you feel like everything's OK. And then imagine that sound starting to curdle and unravel.'"

Fincher remembers this conversation a little differently, noting, "I said a spa, not a massage parlor! I was listening to that calming, placating music and thought, we need to tap into this. The movie is about the facade of the good neighbor, the good Christian, the good wife. So the notion was to start with music that's attempting to give you a hug."

In the interview, Reznor also discusses how his process differs from traditional scoring. Read about that here.

Cage the Elephant Release Cigarette Daydreams Video

(Radio.com) In case that there was any doubt of the Lana Del Rey Effect, take a look at Cage the Elephant's new video for "Cigarette Daydreams." The mostly black-and-white video is a vintage-like collage of home videos and French New Wave-indebted vignettes that has a tragic lining.

There's a kidnapping, a fatal ending and dancing in the middle of the Los Angeles river. - which is to say, the whole thing is pretty surreal. The video comes a year after the track "Cigarette Daydreams" was released on Cage the Elephant's 2013 album, Melophobia.

"Cigarette Daydreams" was initially shared by Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney on his personal Twitter account. The two bands are going on tour together this fall, starting today.

Singled Out: Crucified Barbara's Electric Sky

Today Crucified Barbara guitar player Klara Force tells us about the song "Electric Sky" from their brand new album "In The Red", which comes out next week. Here is the story:

We started writing 'Electric Sky' already before recording the last album. The monotonous guitar riff was born when Nicki (drums) and I were fooling around jamming on the piano after a rehearsal. We played the kind of naive, childish octaves very rhythmically and made up funny melodies. The chorus was totally different at the time. It wasn't even close to perfect then but we felt it had a lot of potential so we decided to take the time to make it perfect.

We worked a lot on the beat and feel we found a cool groove that fits Mia's delicious voice and melodies perfectly. We wanted to write a song you can dance to and this is probably as disco as Crucified Barbara will ever get.

Writing and playing music is sometimes like a force of nature. The creativity and energy feel almost supernatural. It's like the northern lights, it feels magical but it is actually happening. That beautiful feeling is our Electric Sky.

So... You wanna dance or headbang? It doesn't matter, to this song you can do both.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself here and learn more about the album right here!
