Gaskill has had a tough past few years, having suffered his first heart attack in February 2012, and months later his home was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.
Dug Pinnick posting the following message on his Facebook page: " It is with a heavy heart that, World Entertainment and King's X, unfortunately have to announce that during a scheduled minor procedure, Jerry Gaskill, has suffered a heart attack during the post operation recovery, and as a result must undergo double bypass surgery within the next 72 hours.

"Until then, all info and updates will be posted on all King's X Sites, and we will keep you all updated on Jerry's status.- Faith, Hope, LoveKing's X
They're revealing their secrets bit by bit - Corey Taylor this week confirmed their new bassist and drummer would wear twin masks, and explained why his own headgear had "changed dramatically."
The frontman said: "For me, the mask is a representation of what's going on spiritually, emotionally, artistically. It's about what's coming next. People are going to get a lot when they see this video - it's going to blow their minds."

Frehley tells The Village Voice: "I could sense he always wanted to be me. He used to be in a Kiss cover band. He didn't do anything - he was hired by Paul and Gene to put on my makeup and costume and play my guitar solos - a business deal. If he wouldn't have done it, they would have hired somebody else.
"What they really should have done is, if they wanted to dress up a guy to play lead guitar, they should have come up with different makeup, like they did with Eric Carr and Vinnie Vincent. That's what the fans are upset about."
Asked about Thayer launching a limited-edition Spaceman guitar, Frehley responds: "I mean, how big are the balls on this guy?" Ace isn't done, read more

In a statement, Primal Scream singer Bobby Gillespie and guitarist Andrew Innes say: "We have lost our comrade and brother Robert Young. A beautiful and deeply soulful man. He was an irreplaceable talent, much admired amongst his peers.
"He was a true rock and roller. He walked the walk. He had 'Heart & Soul' tattooed on his arm and I'm sure on his heart too. In the words of Johnny Marr, 'Throb with a gold top Les Paul - unbeatable.'
"Our love and thoughts are with his sons Brandon and Miles and their mother Jane, his wife Rachel, and his immediate family." Read more

Panzer will release their debut album Send Them All To Hell on November 28. The band features Destruction singer/bass player Marcel 'Schmier' Schirmer, Accept and Victory guitarist Herman Frank and drummer Stefan Schwarzmann of Accept.
Schirmer says: "If you are a metalhead, you will love Panzer, I'm 100% sure about it. When Stefan Schwarzmann came to me with the idea of putting a band together, I first thought he tried to fool me.
"But the idea sounded amazing from the beginning and after the first meeting with Herman Frank, we realised really fast that this team could really kick some serious ass together. And instead of talking too long about it, we started writing songs right away and within some weeks had half of the album recorded and it sounded wicked.
"We don't want to re-invent the metal wheel. We play the music we love, easy as that." Read more and watch the teaser video

Asked about the future, Nergal tells MetalBlast: "This album opened many doors for us, but it also closed many. You can expect anything from us. Things could go in any direction. There might not even be another record; everything feels right.
"We're on a very exciting journey right now. It's a very joyful ride - but I don't know where it's going to take us. We might end in a dead-end, and just call it quits."

It's not the only cover on the album, with Seger also recording Steve Earle's The Devil's Right Hand and California Stars from Wilco and Billy Bragg's Mermaid Avenue - a collaboration built on Woody Guthrie lyrics.

The Liverpool-born musician's career began with Liverpool outfit The Big Three, formed from the ashes of previous bands and thought to be one of the UK's first-ever rock'n'roll trios. They're reputed to have been the only band the Beatles regarded as genuine "competition" and were signed to Brian Epstein's NEMS firm on John Lennon's recommendation. They're remembered for their single Some Other Guy, a demo recorded for Decca in 1963.
Gustafson then spent some time with the Merseybeats before fronting Quatermass, who released their acclaimed self-titled album in 1970, re-released last year. Later he played with Deep Purple's Roger Glover in his Butterfly Ball project, and spent three years with Roxy Music from 1973.
He appeared on four Gillan albums between 1976 and 1978, played with Gordon Giltrap in the early 80s and reformed Johnny Kidd's backing band the Pirates later in the decade. He released one solo album, Goose Grease, in 1997. Read more

In July the band confirmed he'd been "playing through pain" as a result of an injury sustained in 2010, but made worse by an incident during a UK tour earlier this year. He missed COC's summer US tour as a result - but vows to be back behind the kit before the band reunite with Pepper Keenan.
Mullin says: "Operation snip-and-tie was easy-peasy. I will be back to muling in no time. Doctor said it looks like I did the main tearing of my rotator cuff about four years ago, then completed the job this March in Cardiff.

Byford tells Rockposer's Roulette (via Blabbermouth): "I did this Scintilla Project with some friends. That came out last week. So I've been pretty busy and the band have been having a bit of a break.

Band leader Courtney Love said earlier this year that the classic lineup, also featuring Eric Erlandson and Patty Schemel, would work together again after a series of successful rehearsals. The following week she admitted her announcement had led some of her colleagues to "flip out" with her. Later she said getting back together was a bad idea because she didn't want to wind up on the "oldies circuit."
Now Auf Der Maur tells the Guardian: "Courtney described it as, 'We went on a date but we did not make out.' That's what I can say. It was f***ing beautiful to be in the same room with them for the first time in aeons. That was special - it was truly beautiful and there was a group hug. That's as far as it's gone. Now I'm back to being a mother and having a big old factory."

Drowning Pool were catapulted to success thanks to their hit 2001 single Bodies, but they were struck a major blow when singer Dave Williams died of natural causes on the band's tour bus in 2002.
The band drafted in a number of singers down the years, with Jasen Moreno the man who currently holds the job. The band say: "Sinner represents that amazing time in Drowning Pool's career when things really started to take off. It reminds us of that raw energy and excitement we had when we first got our music out there - when we first started touring worldwide." more details

It's their fourth full-length studio album and comes on the back of 2008's The Fathomless Mastery and guitarist Anders 'Blakkheim' Nystrom says fans can expect "destructive, raw, heavy, organic and sludgy death metal."
He says: "We're proud of all these different styled releases and we loved doing each and every one of them, but the objective was never to settle with a certain style, so our time has come to shift once more." Read more

Slayer say the album is set for an early 2015 release. Bostaph returned to the fold after last year's sacking of Dave Lombardo following a contract dispute. Exodus main man Gary Holt is on guitar duties, continuing in the role in which he has been filling in for Jeff Hanneman for the last four years.
After taking ill and stepping back from band duties in 2011, founding guitarist Hanneman died of alcohol-related liver failure last year. Watch the video clips

But he jokes that he might owe guitar icon Schenker a share of the record's royalties. In the first of five planned 'making of' video clips, Holt says: "Recording Blood In Blood Out was easily one of the most enjoyable experiences I've ever had. I wrote most of the stuff but I gave a lot of the control away for the first time.
"I was able to concentrate on leads when it came down to that and I just played some of the best stuff I ever have. I'm just shredding, ripping off Michael Schenker left and right. I should probably be paying him money. I owe him some royalties or something."

Soen features ex Opeth and Amon Amarth drummer Martin Lopez and Willowtree singer Joel Ekelof. Guitarist Joakim Platbarzdis and bass player Stefan Stenberg complete the line-up.
The band describe the album as being full of "intricate melodies" and "soaring choruses." They insist that despite its prog tag, the music is not trying to be too "clever" or tough to enjoy.

It's their follow-up to last year's recreation of the Psychomania soundtrack, which had been preceded by 2012 debut First Stage Zoltan. The Blind Dead films chart the adventures of resurrected 13th-century Knights Templar, who were put to death for worshipping Satan, but have fought their way back to life in order to perform monstrous acts of cannibalism.
While production values faltered at some points in the series, De Ossrio's work is revered for contributing some of the most memorable zombie moments to a golden era of cult European film. More details

He says: "The years have flown by - and it feels great to see that the tooth of time has not diminished the value of the album. Several songs are still part of almost every gig.
"Although we've played them hundreds of times it's still exciting to see the sheer emotion evoked by, for example, the piano into of Black Winter Day." He adds: "Most of us have feelings about the 1990s that are brought back to mind by the songs, so we're certainly talking about nostalgia here."

Earlier this week opinions on the subject were offered by Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant and Poison drummer Rikki Rockett. Now Snider claims the music has a bright future, regardless of business issues.
He says via Facebook: "While I have nothing but respect for Gene, he couldn't be further off the mark. The business model that helped Kiss and my band achieve fame and fortune is most certainly dead - but rock'n'roll is alive and well.
"It's thriving on social media, in the streets, in clubs and concert halls all over the world. And the bands playing it are more genuine than heartfelt than even because they're in it for one reason: the love of rock'n'roll."
Simmons blamed much of the industry's woes on teenagers who think nothing of illegally downloading albums. But Snider puts the blame on "greedy big-city moguls who made their own velvet noose to hang themselves with." Read a lot more

The first and only film produced about The Doors by The Doors offers a cinematic look at the band on the road during their 1968 summer tour. Whilst never truly completed, the film provides a stylistic approach in true sixties cinma vrit style. Concert performances are intercut with fly-on-the-wall footage of the group in their natural habitat, sometimes playful, sensitive, chaotic and touching. Other than a few appearances in film festivals in 1968, an official release would never be seen until now.
The first official release of the documentary also includes a compilation of outtakes called "Feast of Friends: Encore", plus a 1968 British television feature called "The Doors Are Open", as well as a 1967 performance of "The End" filmed for Canadian TV.
Completely restored from the original negative, as supervised by Jim Morrison, "Feast of Friends" has been colour-corrected and cleaned in high definition with the soundtrack remixed and remastered by long-time Doors' collaborator Bruce Botnick.

Frontman Stevens recently said: "Face I Love is dedicated to all music fans around the world, especially The Dead Daisies fans, because, without you, we don't get to do what we do. The preview is the first video issued by the Van Halen frontman since the passing of his uncle, Manny Roth, in July. Manny was a fixture on the New York club scene: he opened the original Cafe Wha? in 1959 at the corner of MacDougal Street and Minetta Lane. The legendary venue saw artists like Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Springsteen and others perform in its 1960s/1970s heyday.
"It is with great sadness that we report that Manny Roth, founder of Cafe Wha?, has passed away," posted the club on its Facebook page. "He was a legend in discovering talent, and he will be dearly missed by us all. Thanks for everything, Manny, and we hope to continue your legacy long into the future."
David Lee posted a personal tribute on his website, writing, "Uncle Manny has passed away. He was 95 years old. He was happy, laughing and smiling right up 'til the end. His presence already missed, his contributions with us forever."

I'm kind of a hybrid between a folk musician and a classical musician with everything in between. Since I was a young child I've been studying all kinds of musical styles, from Brazilian to Country and from Irish to World music. In recent years I've been also performing live and in the studio with great rock, blues, fusion, traditional, jazz and classical musicians. Because of these wonderful musical experiences with musicians I respect and admire, my desire of finding connections between musical genres grew stronger.
When I wrote the title track of my new CD Penumbra my intention was to mix two musical styles apparently very distant from each other, Baroque and Minimalism, partially because two of my favorite composers are J.S.Bach and Steve Reich.
On a more philosophical level, the penumbra is the lightish part of the shadow. When light shines on an object it creates a shadow, but if you look carefully at the shadow there is a lighter shadow. To me that reflects the human condition in a way. Most of us are in the penumbra trying to figure out life. Either you fall into the dark or you embrace the light.
During this sometimes difficult life journey, music has been the humanity's great consoler and the compassionate guidance.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album
